Please walk back on supporting DBDLeague
Recently, it was announced that BHVR is officially supporting the DBDLeague. This is a bad idea in my opinion and I hope you walk back on it.
The DBDLeague is best known for its members being extremely toxic and at times even bigoted. I don't think "tryharding" to win is toxic. But DBDLeague players are the type of person who, before the abandon update was added, would go for the 4 man slug and then jump the survivors on the ground as they bleed out. They are the people who tbag, nod, hump, etc... and insult you furiously in egc, especially if the other person does it to them back.
Now before anyone makes an assumption, no I don't ######### talking or tbagging should be banned or anything. I have faced plenty of toxicity and it doesn't really affect me.
But I still think we should try to reduce the toxicity in this game. Things are just nicer if people are nice to one another. And this move goes completely counter to that.
There is a reason not every dbd content creator is automatically made a fogwhisperer. But what you have done is basically give the most toxic part of the community your stamp of approval.

I'm not the biggest fan of comp at all but It's the people running DBDL who've got the endorsement, not everyone who's ever played in it or taken part in it.
I don't know the reputation of the people who run DBDL but I heard they're alright and try to maintain a high standard.
I think that's the situation at least?

I doubt the support will last long

As long as the support will be things like monetary support, venues and advertising, or even giving them some updates and optimization to the custom games, I'll be fine with that.
But I hope they won't start adjusting the base game, perks and killers for them and their playstyles.
This game is already a hell for newbies, making it more competitive would drive off all the new players FNAF brought in AND MORE.
So, yeah @VibranToucan , if they start catering gameplay and killer changes to them, I'll absolutely agree with you. Until then…

BHVR has wanted the game to have comp presence for a long time, even though the game is way too casual at its core. It makes sense that they'd back the comp scene after all of the changes the game has undergone in the last 4 years.

It also just doesn't make any sense to support comp DBD when the game isn't even competitive viable without removing half the content it has.

I just think they should because the moment this becomes widely known as a comp esports game it’ll be flooded with cheaters and people whose only sense of validation is winning in a game. Comp is the death of laughter and casual enjoyment

as somebody who is pretty often in contact with people from DbDL, i think it's about time to stop the hate train towards DbDL when your statements towards them are based on assumptions and random players that have never even played in DbDL, but some random tourneys instead.

my response above.

They are the people who tbag, nod, hump, etc... and insult you furiously in egc, especially if the other person does it to them back.
again, this is a very absurd statement taking in mind how most DbDL players spend 99% of their time playing scrims and tourneys.
But I still think we should try to reduce the toxicity in this game. Things are just nicer if people are nice to one another. And this move goes completely counter to that.
how exactly does acknowledging dbd as an esport mean more toxicity in the game when, as i already said, huge majority of DbDL players barely ever play pubs?

i don't wanna name, but literally some of fog whisperers are spreading toxicity and are pushing hardcore us vs. them mentality and you are now blaming DbDL for it :)

All of my examples were from established players involved with DBDLeague.
Also, lots of comp players play normal games (For example, I checked Knightlight's Twitter and out of his 10 past stream announcements, 8 were for streaming public games).
And it doesn't matter how little they play the regular game mode, when they play tend to be disproportionately toxic.

Most people don’t even care about comp DBD, because it has such a long list of custom rules, that it’s difficult to take it seriously.

That just sounds like the usual pub stomper icl, everyone bags their opponents and some times its not even to be toxic, maybe they're genuinely the best at taking chase and want the killer to commit.
Comp players try hard the least out of anyone, as they practice for hours on end to not rely on in game machanics to win (perks, items, favorable offerings, anti camp). Even in pubs when they do Winstreaks they often have a ruleset for themselves. Them finally deciding to support the comp scene again is an amazing thing, and potentially means community tournaments could return in the future, hosted through DBDL, which may i remindyou were open to join for everyone, not just comp players.
On a side note, I find comp players to be some of the most respectful people to random players, to eachother, thats when their expectations take over their emotions and they'll often call out others for selling, never for winning (they're not sore losers). Its just their competitive spirit, they take the game they enjoy seriously, as even some pub players do.

especially when all the job is basically done for them already and they can just give a few extra suggestions.
they just need to give thumbs up and add some in-game adjustments to the gamemode that makes it possible and otherwise it works without their interference.

The „No true Scottsman" rule strikes again.

comp players play among themselves. they don't even play in public matches dude. your statements about toxicity are just nonsense. any school kid who came to dbd from cs2 or dota2 has much more toxicity

Plenty of comp players play normal matches. I literally just opened Knightlight's stream and he was finishing a public match as Springtrap. (I think he swapped to a comp match now, but feel free to watch the Vod.)
And I never said that comp DBD is the most toxic community or that it should be banned. Just that I don't think BHVR should give it their stamp of approval.

I mean, it can't go worse than the first time BHVR tried to make DBD enter the Esports scene.

I don't care about any of that, I care about the fact that the game isn't competitive. And any attempts to make it so will actually kill the game. Any game that starts to care about being competitive dies or becomes nothing but a cesspool of anger and frustration. In DBD, it might suck to lose or get hard tunneled or tbagged after a 4 man out but at the end of the day it doesn't matter, nothing changes, unlike in a competitive game. Plus in a competitive game any sort of "Having fun" or "Just goofing around" is heavily discouraged.

That's actually just untrue. There's soooo many examples of streamers who do comp DBD going into public lobbies and sweating their asses off, belittling the other side, and being as toxic as humanly possible.

the thing is, you're talking about streamers.

Yeah… who are comp DBD players. Often the biggest ones in the comp community.
