This game is unfair for m1 killers.
The fact that people have to play nurse or blight at top tier mmr shows how unbelievably unbalanced the game truly is. Whether it’s map design, gen speed, or the thousands of second chance perks survivors have. The state of the game is dog water because devs refuse to balance at the game at high mmr.

guys do we even try

What entails an m1 killer to you? Because I feel everyone has a different goalpost of what one is these days lol

Technically Spirit is an M1 killer, and she does just fine.
Here's a pro tip: If you care about winning, play strong killers. I get it, M1 killers are generally easier to play. Clown's bottles are much easier to get the hang of than Blight flicks or Nurse jumps. Spirit is so technical that she needed a 350 page guide to explain. But you don't get to pick C or D tier killers, get rekt by good survivors who know how to loop, then complain that the game is unfair. Not all killers are created equal.

It's also true that M1 killers are rare, Trapper and Pig I see very rarely. All my games are Blight, Wesker, Oni, Billy, Kaneki, Huntress, some Nurse, some Spirit... the only M1 I see played consistently is Myers (with Tombstone) and Legion (I guess because it's fun to play). I mean, the norm in this game is to play against strong killers, not weak killers. So I think the game is generally balanced around the most used killers, rather than the "niche" ones.

Doesn't mean we should just leave them in the dust. It's been a problem for years, but for some reason BHVR is way too afraid of buffing weaker killers. Look at the Freddy rework PTB; He was still B TIER and they decided to massively nerf him out of the PTB, making him just a much worse version of Clown (that needs to put them to sleep first) with a really meh teleport that you can't cancel anymore. They made aspects of his kit actually weaker than before whilst making him have some slight anti-loop. They're genuinely terrified of buffing weaker killers that they need to "compensation nerf them" despite being in the gutter of D-tier hell.

To be fair, the bases of Freddy's reworked power are so inherently flawed that you can't really make him any stronger than that.
That also connects to what I, as a Freddy main, consider to be his biggest problem: lack of an identity. Ever since July of 2019, all that Freddy had available for him was copied from other killers. If you make it too strong, he easily becomes oppressive, as he was from the day he got reworked until his nerf in 2021.
And you can also easily make him weak, as he was from 2021 until earlier this year. No matter your approach though, Freddy will remain boring and uninteresting for as long as his power is based on his terrible first rework from 2019. His current version is basically as strong as he can get with this power without becoming a problem.
He is quite deadly, of course, but that happens because of other reasons: low pick rate, usually picked by experienced players and lack of survivor experience in playing against him.
As it currently stands, Freddy will never be in a good place.

i mean i have a 75%+ kill rate across almost all killers and i let survivors play for hatch in almost every game. my wraith actually has an 86% kill rate. and i'm not even a great killer.
i think the truth is that killers think they should win every game. i certainly think this way when i play killer. because it feels so bad when 3 or 4 survivors escape. but at the same time i don't really value most of the wins i do get on killer either because of how easy they were earned. it's a lot of black and white thinking as a killer player and i don't think it should be that way.
honestly, my perspective used to be different. there was a time when the game actually was survivor sided and when nurse and blight and spirit actually were the only good killers in the game. you kinda knew you were gonna have a hard time every game and because the expectations for success were so much lower losing didn't feel so bad.
and i think it's the combination of so many games being "free" as a killer, coupled with getting occasionally bullied by real teams, that makes losing feel worse.

M1 killers always meant that you need that basic attack to down survivor, so you feel that playing listed below killers is unfair?
→ Wraith
→ Trapper
→ Myers
→ Hag
→ Doctor
→ Freddy
→ Pig
→ Clown
→ Spirit
→ Legion
→ Plague 50/50
→ Ghostface
→ Pinhead
→ Sadako
→ Dredge
→ Skull merchant
→ SIngularity
→ Houndmaster
→ Kaneki

Trapper is the only killer in the game that can completely shut down loop without any chance of counterplay. He also is extremely good at proxy-camping basement. All his gameplay of survivor stepping into traps to give you free hooks is just so luck-based that it's not even fun to play. Fe. I trap pallet jym, three survivors step into same traps, boom… 3 free hooks, then another game I trap everything and they just disarm everything. Hot take here is just every trapper running double iri making him not so relying on resetting traps.
Pig is in the box of m1 killers despite her ambush got changed, she has stealth but everyone plays her like none of her kit other than RBT exist. Again, she's not fun to play either.

By the way they explained the MMR points, I will missinterpret it but just to imagine.
To get to max mmr you need 800 points, you get some every time you escape or kill someone.
→ Survivor gets 1 point per escape (1 max per match)
→ Killer gets 1 point for kill (4 max per match)
0-100 no MMR
100-400 mid MMR
400-800 Max MMR
So it's kinda hard to get off that max mmr and much easier to get into that mmr therefore it's most likely that once you reach it it will be super good survivor squad and top killers with 4 slowdowns and best add ons most of the game. It's just how MMR works and if you are so tied to winning, then don't be surprised of survivors you go against. I checked my stats on BHVR account, and my kill rate overall atm is 70+ %, so I don't even expect to have bad players in lobbied unless they play with friends.

And why? Because Blight and Nurse, Billy and Kaneki are absolute top tier with way higher chance to win. So those people who want to win as much as possible will always pick Nurse with corrupt, pain res, dms and grim embrace over Pig with much needed chase perks. It's in every game where two sides compete, they are tend to pick the best they can.

then you’re low mmr

I have literally the sweatiest survivors. :D Maybe just you have some problems making right choices throughout the game.
