Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Please, either remove map offerings and give us BP or rework them to "map ban"

Self explained title

I decided to only offer maps the whole day. Apparently I got the map that I offered after about 13 tries, and it's not even possible to be certain that the map we got was because of my offering or if we were going to there anyway.

I don't want to spend my bloodpoints on useless offerings. Even the clear reagent is more valuable to me because my PC is not running great, so removing a bit of fog actually makes my game run a bit better

Remove the offerings, refund us some Bloodpoints

OR

Rework them to map bans. I would gladly offer RPD or Midwich every time I play survivor.

Thanks

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I kinda preferred being stuck in Sacrificial Ward jail.

I'd loveeee if they turned into map bans. I'd never have to go to the swamp ever again

It's funny how people think Map Offerings as they were gave too much of an advantage but think turning them into a Map Ban is better. Isn't the reasons the same but the other way around and giving the other side less of an advantage?

In the bloodwebs I now avoid map offerings when I can. Like the OP I played a map offering 10 games in a row. Got my map 1 time.

I would rather just not have them so I can use BP on things I would use. They really need to come up with something.

Same on PS4. The fog (and other particle effects) are awful in this game. I wish BHVR would get rid of the dust floating in the air and other nonsense that makes my PS4's fans go nuts.

Yes, please. These offerings are useless. And they're expensive for how useless they are. The Bloodweb needs less unwanted clutter, not more.

Honestly I said years ago they needed removed. There's so much killer in the blood webs it's crazy.

Yeah honestly I hate how the current system works. Say in the future I want to get on the Freddy's map and bring ichorous loam to try getting it, now I have a 20% chance to get a 33% chance to get onto it? Honestly just bloodweb clutter at that point.

I think a solution could be a preference system that unlocks after a certain milestone is reached (maybe 3 characters prestieged) allowing players to simply select a set of maps they like, and maps they dislike. Each player loads into the lobby, and the game picks a map that hopefully lines up with player preferences. Would everyone always get what they want? No, but it make certain maps rarer or more frequent based on lobby consensus, whilst still giving each player a certain degree of control.

Alternatively or in addition to the previous thought, maybe just let a player suggest a map before the trial begins, and if the killer and two or more survivors agree, pick it? Might lead to DC's, but it isn't like people already do that on maps they don't like.

Yes, if you want to play in a very specific Map you would need a lot of Map Offerings. For your example it would be an average of 15 Map Offerings needed to get on the Freddy-map.

But I think the preference system you propose is not really a good idea. I can potentially really limit the Map Pool for the game, because it might happen that up to 15 maps can be on "disliked", which would still leave quite a bunch of Maps, but overall it can lower the experience. Also it would make it harder for the Killer to get a Map they would prefer, since most killer-sided Maps will be on the "disliked"-Section for the Survivors and this can be up to 12 maps.

In general, I dont think that it is bad that you end up on a Map you dont like or even a Map where your Killer is outright bad or where you will have a hard time against a Killer. This is totally fine. I also think that 100% Map Offerings were completely fine, because the issue was always the Maps itself and those should have changed. There is no problem with slightly killer-sided or slightly survivor-sided Maps and there is no problem with guaranteeing a specific Map. It was just the extend of the advantage, which was the issue and this is still present.

I would prefer map ban, getting Midwich and Nostromo every second game made want to offer some map again. Didn't work though so… if you are on Toba Landing 3x per 6 matches that happened too, just offer map you want to avoid.

They should be removed and refund all BP spent on them. Map Offerings have always been unhealthy for the game, they should never have existed and it's shocking they lasted as long as they have.

Yeah tbh I'm not really a fan of my own idea looking back. The nature of a 1v4 game would mean a killer's preferences would either be outvoted or it'd be weighed so their vote would be worth more than a survivor, which kinda defeats the point of giving everyone a say in the map prior. Especially since it would just be the same 5-8 maps that get disliked and thus become unreasonably rare.
