that's good I don't want crows when i'm not afk…👍️👍️that was way overtuned these sort of things shouldn't pass the ptb

Good to know. 🤙

Definitely don't hesitate to run it through its paces and let us know how it's treating you 😀

I can’t believe that survivors can crouch walk in a small part of the map for 8.5 minutes before they get 1 crow, and 12.5 minutes before they get 3 crows.
I severely hope that when the phase 2 changes happen for camping, tunneling, and slugging, that BHVR has the same mindset that they did with the AFK crows, where the changes are so small that they are barely noticeable.
Math:
1 crow = (120 seconds / 0.25) + 30 seconds =510 seconds = 8.5 minutes.
3 crows = (180 seconds / 0.25) + 30 seconds =750 seconds = 12.5 minutes.-14 -
yep, as it was before i never hard crows, RN they just hard nerfed to what is was before basically…

I dont even udnerstand why they even reactivated this feature during the anniversary event. looks like they badly want to injure their reputation even more.

I feel like it's better to make it more lenient FOR NOW, and revisit them in a later patch.
The crows weren't that bad imo, but they needed some adjustments. They had a lot of exploitable gaps. Way too many to just leave unchecked through the last Masquerade, as it seems.
7 -
The crows are currently so lenient, that I don’t understand why BHVR still has it in the game.
Why are we pretending to have an AFK crow mechanic, when survivors can hide for over 20 minutes, if they open 1 chest during that timeframe?

🤷♂️ idk

I feel like this is the new version of 'it's not anti-camp its anti face camp'
The survivor in this hypothetical is clearly not AFK. Anti-hiding elements were always going to be difficult for a game were hiding is a core element of the gameplay.

Probably because hiding in a game about avoiding being killed with no way of directly fighting back is an intuitive choice. Also because hiding or not being on a gen for a bit isn't the same as being afk. I'd also be perfectly fine with them removing this overly complicated system though.
15 -
I mean, I guess it's still technically better, but unless I'm missing something here the "slug for the 4k" situation is still basically a free kill.
They still haven't addressed that this is 4+ minutes of the where hiding is valid gameplay (and the only play), especially when gens still remain.
4 -
Again, I hope BHVR has the same mindset with the phase 2 changes.
We should have a "it's not anti-slugging, it's anti-slugging-all-4-survivors-at-5-generators" mechanic.

I have to be honest but I'm not entirely sure where people were coming from with the first iteration of the AFK crows. Unless I've always been a VERY active survivor player I've never once gotten crows since it's implementation. And from my perspective on killer matches I've only seen somebody get the crows once because they were afk for 5 minutes. I have to wonder what people were (or weren't) doing to gain crows in their matches because I've hardly experienced them or seen anyone experience them. The only way you're getting them was if you're just spending 2 or more minutes at a time doing nothing.
2 -
That's probably going to be their mindset, because that's been their mindset for what they dub Quality of Life changes for awhile.
Gen regression limits, AFC and AFK crows are meant to deal with extreme scenarios and rarely have a game impact. BHVR seems generally happy with the game and is unlikely to make radical changes. If they follow course they'll offer a minor change that they'll weaken even more after testing it on the PTB / first release.

Unless you're actively looking for them, you'll rarely see your teammates getting crows specifically because they are hiding in a corner, dropping and picking up an item non-stop, for ages. Survivors rarely see their teammates' crows because crows (are supposed to) mean that they are being inactive and out of sight for a long time.
The first iteration wasn't an issue in every match, nor was it an issue for every players, but it was limiting and it made certain situations horrible. The worst one was when the Killer slugged the 3rd Survivor to look for the 4th and there were still at least one gen left, the Killer could simply patrol around the slug and the last Survivor (obviously unable to save the slug without trading at best) would be forced on a gen in order to not get crows, however when the gen eventually gets done it would light a massive "I am in this direction!" sign which would likely lead the Killer right to them. It would create lose-lose situations which should never happen, for either side.
The first iteration was also harsh on newcomers who didn't know anything and are obviously much more prone to hiding at the first sign of the Terror Radius and even more so when injured, now imagine that in a tight 3-gen, not to mention totem hunts were problematic depending on spawn rng (especially with Thrill of the Hunt) and were even worse for newcomers who didn't know the spawns.
There are other examples but these two were the most common and egregious. Newcomers were hit hard in certain situations and would sometimes get a crow just for being completely lost in indoor maps. Let's not forget that a single crow is enough to remove any ability to hide within a rather generous radius due to the noise it makes, no need for three crows.

To be fair, I made a similar comment a few days ago, and I ended up getting crows in one of my games after that comment. The killer was Knight, and I received crows after having multiple chases with his guards. Endgame builds can also be problematic with the AFK mechanic as well (looking at you, No Way Out).

Makes no difference. I had NO crows and still got a message that I was flagged as inactive! The message says I will get a penalty the next time - next time what? I play the game??? I had zero crows and earned pips for each of three matches and got a warning anyway!!! Can't wait to see what they do to me in the next game. Punished for playing?
1 -
Honestly, this iteration feels substantially better. I've been able to stealth when needed without seeing a crow, and those numbers are much better at not punishing players who don't deserve it.
3 -
I hope so... if I do something impressive like get 4 downs with a single Bubba saw, it would really suck for survivors to just pop back up because I can only have 2 ppl down at a time or something.

8 mins for 1 afk crow is overkill that's an entire match length they just Skullmerchant treatment it and moved on
-3 -
I was one of the people who said it was half baked and didn't once receive crows until the night before the patch. Blight with No Way Out, I'm on death hook and he's patrolling exit gates, I completed 2 full gens from start to finish by myself that game and still got crows before I could open the exit gates which just gave me away and caused him to get another kill that was not even close to deserved. Glad the system has been changed, but I don't understand how it even went live to begin with.

Doesn't this mean holding Survivors hostage is possible again? You can hold a survivor in a corner for 12 mins before survivors lose collision and possibly longer since it's slower during endgame
0 -
So? If they’re crouch walking they’re not AFK, just like how the anti-camp feature only works if a killer is basically hugging you. It’s not meant to give you free information
3 -
It's great tbh, not getting crows while doing the event totems!
1 -
Crazy this is getting ratio'd when you're right
Yes it's an anti-afk mechanic players shouldn't get crows when not afk, but they could, so the ptb crows were an issue and did not work
Now though any player who wants to afk is not getting stopped by the crows, it was adjusted way too dramatically. I get the crows have been in the game for so long bhvr wants to keep them but at this point why?
With the inclusion of bots I don't see why the anti afk mechanic doesn't just kick the player and replace them with a bot.-3 -
- The 0.25 modifier only happens if the survivor is moving, so it wouldn't be that bad.
- That argument won't help, because people won't say "the crows should be more strict", and instead just expect the collision removal to happen sooner, while keeping the AFK crows as weak as possible.
The feature is officially called "HIDING & BODY BLOCKING PREVENTION". The intent is to reduce excessive hiding. It's just that someone at BHVR made a poor naming choice, and said "AFK Crows", when it really should have named something else like "Excessive Hiding Crows".
Because if the mechanic was actually intended to detect if someone was AFK, then it wouldn't have needed this whole complicated system to detect a bunch of different variables. The mechanic could have literally said "did the survivor move at all in the last X seconds".

Nerfed from the 9.0.0 update, but nerfed or buffed from pre-9.0.0?

What is your definition of free?

Yeah, it's the classic panic change we all come to love from BHVR. Take an issue and flip it 180° in the wrong direction and say it's fix. If the goal was to not get crows during normal play the result was to never get crows.
Where they took it too far was the multipliers making the whole thing pointless.
