ITEM PLACED DIRECTLY NEXT TO WINDOW VAULT CAUSING ITEM PICK UP INSTEAD OF VAULT
SUMMARY OF THE ISSUE: I was in shack, running from the killer, then I tired to vault the shack window and there was an item directly in front of it causing me to pick up the item MID CHASE instead of vaulting the window. I then tried to vault again, but same issue, now picking up my toolbox. Then at that point I got hit again, hooked, and died. #########?! I thought that items can’t be placed next to windows, pallets or gens. I’ve tried to do that before in customs, and it didn’t let me. I had to back away a decent amount before I could. So I’m so confused as to why this happened.

STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW THE ISSUE OCCURED: idk. It just did. Idk why there was an item there in the first place, but it stopped me from vaulting so yea.

another thing to add, that is the distance it would usually bring up the “running vault” action button on screen so you can’t fault me for assuming that was the action button for vaulting while in chase

This is not a bug issue, it is an issue with the default binds on console, which you can change in the menus. Rebind vault and other integral binds to something else.

Dbd needs to create a bigger spectrum on which actions are linked to the binds.
I am also on playstation. And there isn't much we can change from our binds when so much are connected to one action.
We need to seperate them more. That could fix a lot of many problems.
There are many ways to solve this option.
1 like u said: not being able to drop an item near a vault/pallet
2 seperate binds
3 have to crouch to get the option to pick up
But not only items can make the chase short. Lockers and totems next to a window is a huge problem too.

The game needs more diverse controls or better priority with actions. Defensive/unhook actions → item/killer interactions → healing would be a good start.
