Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Please bring back the classic horror atmosphere – a newer player’s perspective

Hello Behaviour team,

I’m still fairly new to Dead by Daylight (around 100 hours played), but I’ve really enjoyed the experience so far. What pulled me into the game, though, wasn’t just the gameplay — it was the dark, terrifying atmosphere I saw in old videos and trailers.

After watching YouTube content from the earlier years of DBD, I realized how much more gritty, oppressive, and scary the game used to feel. The older lighting, fog, map layouts, and sound design created a truly unsettling horror experience — and honestly, I wish I had been around to play it back then.

Suggestion: As a newer player, I would love to see:

  • a “classic horror mode” or limited-time event with darker lighting, heavy fog, and creepy ambience,
  • throwback map versions with the old visuals and sound design,
  • killers or skins that lean more into raw, psychological horror.

I understand the game has changed to reach a wider audience, but I truly believe many new players like me would appreciate the chance to experience that original horror vibe — even if only occasionally. It would be a great way to celebrate the game’s roots while giving newer fans a taste of what made DBD so iconic.

Thank you for your time and for continuing to evolve such a unique game.
