No more button mashing please. Press and hold to struggle.
I don’t play survivor very much because of how much I don’t like the struggle phase alone. Even if I rarely get hooked to that state, it’s just not good for your keyboard or controller, and not good for your hands either. The only way I’m going to mash buttons, is if I can get off the hook for sure. And to my understanding, you are mashing for a chance to stay in the match, and even then it doesn’t depend on anything you can do, it depends on your teammates.
At least make it an option in the options menu, it’s not any trouble to implement it is it? I wonder if there’s an explanation as to why this hasn’t yet been implemented?

I agree, its just pointless honestly. I think its part of the game that is just outdated to the current style of the game. Oh no you could die if you don't do this! Scary Scary...but really the devs don't want people dying that way and like 1% of players ACTUALLY die from messing that up.

ever heard of a Macro?

especially on ps4, my dual sticks are getting roughed up badly through it
2 -
Bind it to a scroll on your mouse. It's not that hard.
No one mashes their space button...

Ever heard of a controller?

Macros are banned since the last patch.

The Dbd developers are partnering with keyboard manufacturers. They are deliberately ruining our keyboards, so we need to buy new ones. Wake up, people!

Or at least make it to where you have to just hold the assigned button.
1.) It wears out keyboards/controllers prematurely; 2.) It's prone to messing up due to lag spikes; 3.) There's nothing skill-based about it.
Hell, I'd prefer hanging there with a button held while completing skill-checks to having to wear down a single button to the nubs.

Everyone knows about macros, but not everyone had the time to create his own script with AHK, not everyone has a specific mouse from razer with its software, and also devs/eac haven't whitelisted anything so far. So in worst case you can get banned for that (which is very unlikely cuz I don't know anyone who got banned for using macros)

You can't get banned for macros.
At least not ones that you set up on the app that comes with your mouse ,like razer/logitech.
Maybe you may get banned for using a 3rd party macro program, I dunno.

they need to just make it R1 + L1, I damaged a controller because of it (and yes I understand you can circulate the joystick but it still damages the controller more than pressing a button)

I really wish they would change this. I accidentally kill my character every now and then because of this.

bannable btw

change your struggle to MW Down.

@TreemanXD I once accidentally reset struggle to spacebar (I set it to scroll) without knowing and it took 3 deaths before I noticed the change.

If you had read the updated EULA agreement (or whatever the agreement is called) introduced in patch 2.6.0, the use of macros is now prohibited.

Please. Or idk implement occasional skillchecks you have to hit during struggle phase.
0 -
The phase would be allgood if there was a point to it, struggle more = more points or stay alive longer etc.

I too hate the struggle mechanic after so many years. It's wearing out my hand and I die occasionally even though I was hitting it. Really tired of that. Wiggle is wearing stuff out too, but I don't know what to rebind it as. Would it be too strong if it were automatic? Or, you press a key to toggle it on and off?

As a killer, I am obligated to tell you to get good at struggling

I hate the mashing so much. My carpel tunnel syndrome makes hammering that space button for survival into an actually painful experience.
1 -
What I dislike most about the struggling is how it is programmed. If there is a lag while you struggle, you die - despite continuesly smashing the button.
1 -
Does mashing your buttons faster, actually makes the wiggle bar go faster?
0 -
@Reiverdemon No.
0 -
Only up to a certain point. There's a maximum wiggle speed.

Button mashing just means that my controllers taking a beating and is closer to breaking. When it's broken i can't play dbd.

Yes I would agree to this. Press and hold a button to struggle to avoid accidental suicides. Alternatively, it could be made into an "opt out" option instead of an "opt in" option, where you automatically struggle and have to press and hold a button to make yourself die.
Also us console players need to rally together and get them to change wiggle from a stick thing to a button thing. Unlike buttons, analog sticks can and do get drift and have other issues caused by these sorts of controls. Not to mention, Mario Party 1 pretty much proved why "wiggle the stick" is a bad control option. My palms still have scars. It should be alternating run/crouch buttons or point/come here gesture buttons.

As people already said it would so much easier to automatically struggle and have an option to let go yourself in every moment. So many little problems with the struggle that could be avoided.
Good QoL change if it's done

I'm willing to bet that everyone would accidently mass suicide on hook the first few rounds after said change.
0 -
LOL right?! Like you get put on the hook, and like a trained lab rat without thinking you mash the button and die 🤣🤣🤣
I can see the threads now. "DEVS why did you change the button I keep dying" LMFAO

I need this, because my controller cannot handle the pain of smashing a button into the controller

I just move the stick in a circle casually and it fills the wiggle meter quick, I never had a problem with that part. Everyone goes ham on it but it makes no difference to roll the stick clockwise.

Press and hold button sounds great. I accidentally suicide way to much.
