Share Your "Fun To Play Against" Killer Tier List!
Greetings, friends of the Fog! I hope this thread finds you doing well.
It has been a while since we've had one of these discussions, and now that Springtrap has been out for a while and the new chapter doesn't have a killer, I think it is the perfect moment to have one.
It should give us a good idea of, overall, where people place Springtrap in such lists and they should remain up to date for a while, at least until a new killer releases.
Here is mine, updated yesterday in fact:
Personally, when it comes to our newest killer I think Springtrap is really fun to go against, especially now that they fixed the invisibility glitch with the doors.
So, what does your "fun to play against" tier list looks like? Every opinion is welcome here!

I will explain if necessary.

that one strat is like infinite T3 myers or camping as bubba / huntress or endless zoning like a bot instead of using power normally on demo/huntress/springtrap or playing 3 gen too hard.
"if they are not better than me" basically means if I can actually keep up with the player, like they dont just destroy me in every mindgame, make perfect reads, etc
not fun not too unfun is not something I can consider aggressively unfun but it's something I would rather not face than otherwise
3 -
I might try do a list later if I get time, but 100% with you on wesker, to this day if I get 2 wesker games in a row I get off the game regardless of the results or how they go. I'd put ghoul & Springtrap with him though, ghoul is just obnoxious & many hit still feel worse than a huntress hatchet, Springtrap I was never going to like but too many little things annoy me.
As for favourites though Oni for sure as my favourite killer, & Trapper, as a trapper main I appreciate well placed traps!
3 -
iI'm on mobile and seem to be struggling making a list so I'll just say that the peak survivor experience is found on Xenomorph, with other fun friends next to them such as Vecna, Cenobite, Unknown, Leatherface and Springtrap.
the absolute bottom of the barrel I would say are Clown, Artist, Plague, Hag, Ghoul, Knight.
if lights out ever comes back I'd highly recommend looking out for the Xeno players :3

I think this is about right for me, although it will probably change slightly from day-to-day.

Probably something like this:

Reading your 'Absolute hatred' tier and I was nodding along until I saw Dredge
What's your beef with Dredge? I'm guessing Accessibility related stuff? He's not exactly as oppressive or strong as the others in that tier
6 -
Yeah. He triggers super bad headaches for me so I seriously consider walking away whenever it's him. Luckily for me, he isn't common.
But yeah he's an accessibility nightmare
2 -
Yeah that's pretty fair
I could see how nightfall would be way too much for some people given the constant sounds and all the visual stuff.
1 -
some say the nightfall groans are actually the cries of pain from people like Pulsar who get headaches from the power as well as the lamentations of people suffering from sunglare on their TVs
7 -
They are.
His whole power is wildly overstimulating. Like pre-rework Doctor, when he had all that stuff that'd pop up on your screen.
3 -
Here you go friend found a spare few minutes to get it done.
Kiillers aren't in order in their individual tier lists so Dracula isn't my favourite of the all good for example, though it is fitting wesker is last & I didn't particularly do it that way just dropped him in first.
& before anyone asks Demo has my number for some reason, its almost always in the end game too so i'd rather not!
I won't quit no matter who the killer is nor will I give up, never have. But 2 games back to back with Wesker, I'm playing something else, ghoul & spring trap are about that point too but i'm giving them the new content benefit until the summer is over!

- Note: Nurse and Blight are very fun only when the player is "normal" and not the "GOD of killers". I'm traumatized by the "old" Skull Merchant... I still can't appreciate her even if she is not very strong.
2 -
Thank you very much for your replies, my friends, I sincerely appreciate them!
After going through everyone's lists here it is really interesting how different the perspectives are. Skull Merchant, that I have in my highest tier @Pulsar has on his lowest, while the character I hate most is one of @ImWinston 's favorites.
But I did notice the similarities: @LegacySmikey shared hatred for Wesker, my dearest friend, truly an insufferable killer. And it also seems Bubba ranks reasonably high on literally every list so far. So does Myers, actually. Ghouls seems disliked, overall, but didn't always make it to the bottom of the lists.
2 -
- I notice that (in general) Twins and Trickster are not very loved🤣
2 -
Hahaha, that's true! Trickster seems to be slightly more loved than Twins, though not by much.
Still, pretty bad designs I would say.
1 -
I don't know if I "like" going against any of them anymore. Not a lot of memeing anymore, lots of camping/tunneling/slugging at 5 gens. Very few stand out anymore.
Historically I did like Trapper because he's one of the rare exceptions that changes the nature of the trial and is pretty interactive. We need more of those.
-2 -
Notes
B is like indifferent, leaning either good or bad.
•Nurse only because I like to see how others play my original main.
•Meyers broken addons they all play the same
•Blight is a joke, everything wrong with dbd top tier killers. Too much movement, no cooldown.
•Pig/SM hate because its just unfair with how weak they are.Post edited by ChuckingWong on-1 -
It is unfortunate we have these bad experiences, my friend.Though honestly I don't mind if killers do not meme around, but I don't like camping/tunneling/slugging either. A normal match is more than okay, ya know?
But I agree with Trapper, I think he is fun to face.
Very interesting choices here, my friend!
I think the killers we enjoy playing as tend to be more enjoyable to play against than the others, it is interesting. And I agree completely regarding Blight, yes.
Though, I must ask: Pig / Sm being low is because they are so weak that they provide an enjoyable experience, or because it is unfair from their perspective?
0 -
From their perspective, empathy for my opponents. And it so sad they are in the states they are in. PTB included for the pig.
1 -
plague, huh. now that is spicy. is that gameplay related, or do you just enjoy the puking noises survivors make?
1 -
Plague I enjoy because I like the macro decision sometimes to make either to cleanse during or after.
Rotating around if someone is disased or not, it breaks up who can save or who shouldnt say if a survivor on the hook is diseased.
Maybe you can get away with saving when you are diseased, and keeping the disease on just two people rather than a healthy person going to the hook and getting infected.
Stuff that breaks up gameplay a bit more outside of the box like that I think is fun to play against. Also why I like going against pinhead, who and when to get the box.
Where to solve it.
Stuff like that.4 -
Ye. Memeing isn't necessary but it's a very different trial with a Pig that has no idea what booping is. Stuff like that. Feels like the culture is dead.
The excuse for liking Trapper is usually that he's bad and I want easy wins, but it's not that at all. I miss feeling anxious about loops. I was hoping Dredge would have a similar feel but he didn't. It's better to make objectives unsafe imo versus health states like Legion or Plague.
1 -
Fair enough, my friend.
I do think Pig is better in the PTB, but Skull Merchant really needs her nerfs reverted, because her current state is weak (though still extremely fun imho) and the design previews were terrible.

Why do you HATE weskin time!?

Everything is in order within tiers.
2 -
Poor dredge players. It almost makes me want to play as dredge because it seems cool
2 -
Mine's a little something like this and it's contingent on how they play, how well they play (I want them to play the Killer correctly), and how vibey their mains usually are. If they're based around a particularly unfun playstyle or often run particularly unfun builds on that Killer, it's instantly a tier lower. If I find the Killer's mechanics just generally annoying they tend to also go down a tier.
3 -
I exist! Many of us kinda tend to play highly map oppressive which can be very unfun, but we're not monsters. We do tend to lock in very hard. Most of us aren't all that bothered by maps unless it's Coldwind or somewhere very locker poor, which isn't that many maps. Most of us just wanna be spooky. :)
For me personally? I'm a pretty chill Killer overall for everyone I play. I don't even really care if you get hatch or not, I can 1-2k and be happy. As long as you do not hardcore start sweating, I'm pretty nice, and if you treat me with respect (don't teabag at pallets, don't try bully squad tactics), I'm not going to bite your head off or anything. I'll even do a little dance for you. :) If you are being a little nuisance though, I can and will put you in slug time out. Literally just had to do that to an attempted Stun Setup squad on the Game a few days ago.

@LockerLurk I love the idea of this killer and think they're probably one of the coolest killers ideawise. I feel bad though because I feel they should get a rework to their night ability. It's such a cool concept and really puts the spookieness back into the game.
I'm a similar way when I play my killers, like an example, as a dracula player, if i'm in wolf form, and anyone immediately stops to give me a boop mid chase, that person is safe for the rest of the trial for me. I don't personally care whether I get kills or not, I just love getting to mess with the different abilities on the killers. My MAIN KILLER is huntress. I have a personal rule I set for myself which is no M1 unless carrying someone, as I just enjoy flinging hatchets at people.
Good to see a dredge player though! I really hope more people pick up the character :D1 -
Yeah, he is easily the killer I hate most in DBD.
And it is mostly because of how bloated his kit is for a dash killer. A killer whose primary power is movement based cannot have so many things in their kit, otherwise there is very little you can actually do to stop them.
Wesker gets dash, injury on windows, passive slowdown with the infection, killer instinct when you remove the infection, and he can throw you on a random direction which no other killer can do. It is too much, way too much.
That doesn't make him impossible to beat, of course, but it makes him utterly miserable to go against, in my opinion.
LockerLurk!
It is good to see you again, friend!
Our lists are very, very different now that I'm looking at them, but that is the fun part of seeing the different perspectives on each killer.

No surprise SM is near the bottom of my list.
Sort of feel bad for her mains though, well, just not the weird ones. Kinda like the few that called themselves Twins mains for the time after their release til their failed rework. Felt bad for them.
Doesn't mean the Killer isn't still absolute cheeks to play against though.
1 -
Most of the Killer are unfun and unfair to face, but I do find Springtrap, Ghostface, Vecna, and Unknown decently fun to face. Haven't gotten to face Houndmaster enough to know how I feel about about her, though she is fun to play.
-1 -
Honestly, my friend, it is really interesting how different our approaches are to one killer, who is either at the best tier possible, or the worst.
Skull Merchant is an interesting case because I wasn't really here for most of the 3 gen mess… well, I was, but only in the very last one or two days, so I don't have the "release bias" like others do, and like I have for Legion (very obvious reasons, my dear friend, you were there you know how bad it was).
The only time I ever disliked her was like, the first ten or so matches I played against her after the rework where my teammates would DC for no reason, but I moved past that. Skull Merchant 2.0 was, in my honest opinion, perfect. Not a single thing I would change about her. Quickly became one of my favorite killers to go against and, as of this moment, she is my favorite killer to play as, despite the nerfs.
That will remain as long as the design previews do not, under any circumstances, go live. That would be horrible.
If I may ask, old friend, what caused Singularity to be placed at the bottom tier?
0 -
Primarily being held in stalemate 3 gen situations for upwards of half an hour in what is the closest we have in the current game to old "chess merchant". Having as many as 3 cameras on each of the last 3 gens, and spaced in such a way that you need multiple EPMs to even start repairing. On top of other toxic strategies of cameras on top of slugs or recent exit gate strategies.
Then there's the autoaim shots, the fact he's never punished for getting outplayed at a tile. It doesn't matter how well you loop, he can always autoaim back on top of you in seconds. I also don't find his voicelines or general design scary or interesting at all.
I think if he hadn't directly followed the most hated killer of all time, he would have taken a lot more heat.

General, you looks different! How have things been? :)
I'm actually sorta with you on Wesker. He's not that much fun, I think there's other Dash Killers that feel more fun. Also I've run into A LOT of really rude Weskers. It's kinda tainted my opinion of the character.I mean this very kindly and seriously: If you truly find 95% of the Killer roster unfun and unfair, do you even really enjoy DBD?
1 -
Doing good, my friend, thank you for asking! Currently in my permanent-unless-reworked Skull Merchant phase and trying to P100 her. How about you? I hope you are doing well!
Honestly, I am just not a fan of dash killers in general, except Hillbilly. But Wesker is the worst in my opinion because of how much his kit has. I really dislike going against him.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts, my friend, I think I have a better understanding of where you are coming from.
Though I must say that I personally almost never go against 3 gen Singularity. In my experience, it is a very rare scenario.

Yes, I enjoy the Killer role, and I want to enjoy the Survivor role as well, but that's proving to be impossible against the majority of Killers. Now, I can see where certain Killer can be fun to face - I have had fun matches against a good chunk of the Killers, but either due to the horrible balance or due to facing too many toxic players, most of the Killers do not feel fun to face most of the time.
0 -
Escaping 40% of the time means that enjoying survivor role is “impossible against the majority of killers?” What is your average escape rate? If it’s around that 40% average, the only explanation for your statement is that you have wildly unrealistic expectations for how often you should be escaping. If it’s significantly below the 40% average, then that’s an issue with your own gameplay, not a fundamental game balance issue that applies to all players.

How do I do one of those fancy tier lists?

Right here, my friend!
3 -
Escape rate means nothing to me. I don't even care about escaping. I've done five Survivor matches today, only had one crap match, while the other four were fun. And I only managed to escape twice. Maybe my expectations are too high when I expect a PVP game to be fun and balanced and not skewed to one side. Defeat can be just as fun as victory so long as the balance is fair. Unfortunately, as of now, that just isn't the case.
Whether it be because of BHVR's horrible idea of balance, the amount of toxic players (on both side, while most of my matches are ruined by the Killer, I've had plenty ruined by my teammates), or whatever the reason, the game is not in a healthy state right now, making it darn near impossible to actually enjoy Survivor even half the time.
Survivors need milk to help counter toxic behavior, more things to do in general to help with the stale gameplay loop that the Survivor side has had to deal with for the entirety of the game's existence, maps in general need a rework to be more balanced for both sides, and there are some Killers who need help because they're struggling even at low-MMR.

Yea I get it we all have the ones we despise. I too dont particularly enjoy him, hes a one trick pony and very unoriginal to go against. You load in and you already know how things are going to play out pretty much there is very little "revolutionary" Weskers out there.
"Me see unhook me double dash immediately back to unhook notification, me succeed, me laugh"
Definitely in the crowd for me of too much movement too little cd.
To be clear I think the exact way of nurse as well. Shes unbalanced as hell, just because I love to see what others do with her, does not mean I think shes fair by any means.Yea would agree with this sentiment as well. Its not so much about the specific killer but how they play.
If we got some turbo tunneling blight/kaneki I kind of just laugh. Seems to be the majority of my opponents are those two killers and how they play as well.
I dont get to face the killers I like to face, everyone just wants the path of least resistance and originality it would seem. Is what it is
edit: As an aside guess what killer I got to face my first match of the day and how they were playing?
YOU GUESSED IT!They even bmed me on the ground as well.

Im the #1 Nemesis hater in the world. The bottom four actually make me want to play a different game, the rest of them aren't the end of the world or won't kill the mood or anything

Truly nothing better than "fun" and "engaging" gameplay for both sides involved!
And this one also had a dose of BM, of course.
