WHY SPACE ??!!!
CANT WE SEPARATE VAULT AND LOCKERS ??!!!
I'm tired of going into the nearest locker when I just want to take the window

Yeah... this is the issue with mapping multiple things to 1 button. Its the same issue as when your trying to heal avteammate, and pull down a pallet instead. Allowing more button mapping will get some hate though since it would ALSO effectively kill CJ techs and similar stuff.

Button mapping would be a godsend especially those of us on PC and if you use programmable mouse buttons as well.
2 -
Theres plenty of unused buttons on console as well. No clue why BHVR looked at a controller and just said "yeah... we only need half of those buttons".

my suggestion is mapping out all actions and letting players on pc/console/switch fully map out each action to the button they want to instead of having several actions tied when you only want to move certain actions. I think this would create a much better UX(user experience) for players.
Ie item pick up/drop
Chest
Unhook
Heal
Ect
That way we can all assign what we want where.
I am on PlayStation for example maybe I want item pick up drop assigned to O but I want Unhook assigned to R1Maybe I want locker assigned to ◾️ but vault assigned to R1
As examples. Like let players do their own button bulk assignments and separations to preferred sequences.

You do know you can do some remapping right? I don't believe you can separate locker and window vaults but you can avoid the trying to heal accidentally drop a pallet mess.

it’s not just heal pallets, it’s locker vaults, it’s item teched on heals, pick up items when you’re trying to vault, They all add up.
It’s little things like item pick up/drop but it brings over like a plethora of other actions like unhooking, repair, heal, totems ect when I try to move the action over but it brings the action that creates the item/heal tech issue with it because it’s bulked actions even when it’s labeled as “drop item” for assignment.
So you move stuff around to try to fix the issue and it doesn’t even solve the issue, nor create a better user feel; because now you gotta learn like 10 things you just moved to a button trying to move the 1 thing “drop item” and you still have the initial WHY you did the reassignment in the first place going on. It creates a bad user experience. When they can break the actions up and let people map their own stuff.
it creates a bad user experience, it’s maddening because the binding available doesn’t solve the WHY I wanted to reassign.Post edited by HeroLives on0 -
This is an issue on some Killers as well, the number of times I've teleported when I wanted to cancel my remnant because teleport and remnant spawn are the same button is obscene. The number of times I've chosen the wrong Dracula form and lost momentum when I had it because the buttons are similar or mismatched. The number of times I have tried to use a Pinhead chain and canceled because the button was wrong.
In all cases I had to totally remap the controller. Don't get me started on opening lockers or vaulting when I JUST WANNA PICK UP A SURVIVOR NEAR A WINDOW/LOCKER.Post edited by LockerLurk on1 -
Imagine the beautiful interface and user experience if input binding was relegated to the survivor selection tab(since they’re just skins anyways) and you can fully map out your actions.
And each killer had their own designated input binding tab upon selection you can save with the same break out but for their powers and basic killer actions.
It would be so nice and just make the game FEEL better.

I know. I'm just saying you can mitigate some of that.

This issue ALSO means Killers will vault, open lockers, etc. when they mean to pick up. It definitely hits both sides. Survivor just feels it and is affected by it way worse.
This has been an issue in the game for years is my point. Maybe let's address it?4 -
I appreciate you trying to help, I really do, I mean that.
I’m just trying to leave feedback and what I think can improve user experience, and why someone would want a more complex system for binding(especially when you feel like it solves nothing you went to it for). I mean this so nicely(honestly I appreciate all the hard work everyone puts in on the team whether it pans out or not, at least they’re trying, I know a bunch of companies that give 0 cares and dust their hands) the binding system needs work though. I agree with other players when they say it creates an undesirable experience.

I get that. I just wasn't sure if you were aware that you can make some keybind changes.

What I did on console was bound actions to L2. So gens would be holding L2, pallets would be R1. Completely fixed that problem. The locker vault one is the only problem I ever really had.
On PC I haven't had any double binding issues despite only rebinding my activate power thing to E

Yeah :) I’m a gamer 😂 controller settings is the first thing I go to when I don’t like a games overlapping action mechanics or even basic mechanic set up. Binding is my bread and butter as a gamer. I’ll go to settings over something as small as i don’t like which button dodge, jump, and duck are assigned to. I think I spent a solid few hours pathing buttons for Nioh just to get the feel right for items, buffs, debuffs, and actions so it flowed smoothly in combat and felt intuitive(and still to this day it’s one of the things I appreciate most about the game).
Anyways yeah I rolled the rock up hill several times trying to get the binding system in DbD to “feel good and give the results” and solve my own woes in game before marching to the capitol. I even tried turning the console off and back on. I took the cartridge out blew on it, and put it back in, I made sure everything is plugged in, newest update installed, made sure the batteries were good in the controller, went for a drug test to make sure I wasn’t high and tripping, asked if the binding system needed a nap or was hungry, alternating combinations testing in trials.Nothing.
I’d sacrifice my first born to the entity to get a fleshed out and functioning binding in this game.

look at the window instead of the locker

It's like when you're looping on Yamaoka Estate, going for the railing vault, and bam! The locker pulls you in like it's hungry juicy survivor meat.

No, it needs to be space, I don't want to press any other extra key
This is a map design problem. They just need to remove lockers close to windows, thats all

WhySpace sounds like a 2006 sitcom knockoff of MySpace

MySpace walked so that Facebook could run the WhySpace production of TikTok dancing awkwardly in the kitchen.

Its happened a few times to me…more so lockers than windows. B/c a lot of pallets are placed right beside lockers and sometimes it just drags your character into a locker when you're trying to activate/drop a pallet. Its pretty frustrating when it does happen however it hasn't happened recently. Do decently well in chases but when it does occur, damnit is it annoying lol.

Same button is not the issue.
Locker placement is - map organization is.

Another nasty one that happens on occasion is a survivor goes goes right next to a drop pallet. You want to destroy pallet but instead you pick up the survivor and BAM another survivor comes and slides over the pallet and blinds you.

I could not find anything in the input bindings that would solve this problem.

Maybe then I could actually play Plague, she only seems to work for me if I play her a bit like a twinstick shooter on controller, controlling the cam and the vomit at the same time.
2 -
From a designer point of view, it would just be easier to allow mappings. It would take much more effort to go through every single map that has a locker next to a window and try to rearrange it. Take shack for instance. Just where exactly would you put the lockers in there to get it away from the window? Not even really possible.
3 -
yes. Straight up breaking up actions instead of bulking them and letting people bulk assign their own or even adding combo mapping like ex: “L1+O “ for an assigned action would make console feel so much better. Probably pc too. I’m sure they have their own woes.
2 -
Not much effort at all, not many maps with lockers next to a vault. And shack locker and vault are far enough, if you are entering the locker by accident then you are doing it wrong

As a killer main
i also have technical issues picking up a person if they are crawling to close to a locker, or those portal doors, One time they even body blocked me from punching a generator 😅0
