Original Chapter - Ormond's Scythe
This is my take on a Killer based around The Legion. I love The Legion's backstory, but I can't really play them all that well annoyingly.
Name: Thomas Charleson
Epithet: The Revenant
Weapon: Scythe
Size: Average
Speed: 4.6mps
Appearance: They wear a black mask with a red grin painted on it. They wear a hooded black cloak with red accents along with a red scythe.
Description: A merciless Killer, able to rapidly and mercilessly wipe out the Survivors using their power, Oncoming Storm. Their personal perks, Hex: Without Mercy, Hex: Lethal Enforcer and Sound of the Drums allows him to gain Killer Instinct on people working on Generators and hunt Survivors more viciously.
Backstory:
Thomas Charleson was born in a mining town to a father who worked in the mines and a mother who worked as a midwife in the nearby hospital. His family didn't have much but they had each other. They'd sit in their small garden behind their dusty old house and they'd enjoy the sun. They savoured every moment with each other. When Thomas turned 12, he got into a fight outside his school over a girl he'd met. After the other boy, only about 14, charged at him with a knife, Thomas slammed his hand into his face, as he hit the floor lifelessly.
The judge ruled that Thomas was not guilty, and exercised self-defence considering the situation. But Thomas could not escape the looks, the whispers and the guilt of the murder. His parents moved to Canada with him to escape the ridicule. That's how Thomas moved into Ormond.
Thomas turned 15 when his mother fell ill with a disease the doctors concluded would debilitate her for the rest of her life. Thomas and his father would visit her every Tuesday with flowers and told her she'd be fine. Thomas's father was a good man, and worked in the Lake Mine on Mount Ormond. But, fate is cruel. On Thomas's 16th birthday, a mineshaft collapsed and Thomas's father was killed. They said that it was a tragedy only rivalled by the MacMillan Estate Incident. They paid Thomas and his mother a small amount of money and nothing more was done. Thomas was broken-hearted, but he stayed strong for his mother.
He had to find ways to pay the bills. Ways to get food. And so, he resorted to crime. He stole money, he robbed food and he hid cameras in shops to scout out when was best to steal.
One day, he left a shop after stealing food. He turned a corner swiftly into an alleyway, bumping into another teenager. He was wearing a white mask and a charcoal jacket. He noticed a small hunting knife in a sheath at his waist. Thomas felt the memories flush back into his mind of that boy. That poor boy. Thomas's sight blurred, as he fell to the floor.
Thomas woke up in an old, wooden room. Dusty bedding covered him, along with a purple-pink jacket. He looked up, and looked around. He was confused. How long was he out? Where was he? The walls were vandalised and decrepid with the smell of dust. He assumed that the man he'd met took him here. Where else would he be? He shot out of bed, noticing his head was bandaged. He looked about, and noticed that the same man sat, still wearing his mask, staring at him. He demanded to know where the hell he was, and he explained that he took him here after a nasty fall.
The man was named Frank Morrison. His friends were hanging around downstairs and that they were a bit worried. Considering the situation, Thomas felt the urge to leap out of the nearby window, but instead decided to follow. As it turned out, they seemed quite similar. Frank was quite used to moving from place-to-place and understood his troubles with adapting. Thomas spoke about his home country to them, detailing the lush hills and streams. Thomas had found a group who were willing to spend time with him. A group of people who took him away from the stress.
One day, after a successful day of looting, Frank offered Thomas to come with them to vandalise the shop that had fired him. Thomas realised that his mother was going into a surgery and he refused. Frank nodded, and he walked away towards Joey's car as they drove off.
He went to the hospital that night, waited for his mother's surgery to finish. But the doctor in charge of the surgery was careless and arrogant and the surgery failed. She bled out within minutes. He was without his family. When he found this out, they said the doctor was not going to face punishment whatsoever.
He stood alone over the grave of his mother in Ormond's church. One set of flowers, the same kind his father had. Both graves sat next to each other. He tried to hold back a lake of tears, but he failed. The cold wrapped its icy fingers along Thomas's body, as he weeped on the muddy floor. He felt his hands go numb. He somehow knew that Frank and the others would not be here. They were somewhere else, somewhere darker. He knew it was only him left.
Later that day, he broke into the doctor's house. He had brought with him a large knife and a rope. One for the man he was about to kill. The next for himself, as he saw no reason in living beyond this if he'd never be able to sit in the garden in the warm sun with his parents again. Thomas rushed up the stairs like a rabid animal in a feral frenzy. He burst into the man's room, as a gunshot rang across the house. The bullet pierced Thomas's chest, exploding through his chest.
The doctor mocked him, kicking him as Thomas's life left in a pool of crimson tears. He remembered the cwtches and the good times, the welsh cakes his mother made him and the reassurance of his father in his darkest times. He remembered the boy he'd killed, was this ironic? He'd die young as well. Maybe he deserved it.
But a dark force burrowed itself in his mind. Don't let him escape, Thomas. He deserves to die. Everything Thomas was burnt away into hatred. The Revenant's blood boiled. The Fog continued to chant in his mind. Kill him! Take your retribution, Thomas! As the doctor went to call the police, he rose up behind him. Blood staining his grey coat and mask. One swing took the man's head off. The Revenant felt his blood pumping. He looked at the bloodstained knife, and remembered the boy. He'd always be a murderer. He might as well submit to that fact now. He looked backwards behind him. The Fog called out to him. Asking more. Asking him to kill again. Thomas bowed his head in submission. As you wish, he said to himself. He stepped into the darkness, and he saw in the distance dark figures running in fear of him. His new victims.
Thomas was home.
Power: Oncoming Storm
"Try as they might, you will find them. There will be no escape."
Oncoming Storm has three charges. By holding the Primary Ability button for 5s, you can charge a Scythe Dash. This allows the user to leap forwards with the scythe and injure anything within the path. The dash is 24m at maximum but can be cancelled by letting go of the Primary Ability Button. While charging the Scythe Dash, you move at 4.4mps. If this dash hits someone who is already Injured, they are inflicted with the Deep Wound effect. Each dash takes 15s to be restored and can be used in succession. You cannot turn if you are in Scythe Dash, but you can turn after a Scythe Dash
If you hit a Pallet during Scythe Dash, you Vault it at a speed of 0.7mps and continue on the path.
Oncoming Storm also allows for another ability. Once you have used all of the Scythe Dashes, you can use Bloodslicked Cyclone, where you throw the Scythe immediately after the third Scythe Dash. This Bloodslicked Cyclone attack immediately puts a Survivor into the Dying State, but it is thrown 8m and can be dodged by crouching afterwards.
Perks:
Hex: Lethal Enforcer
"A Hex that applies pressure to your victims."
Whenever you gain Bloodlust, this Hex applies itself to 2 Dull Totems. If there aren't enough Totems to apply, a new one appears on the map. Until the Totem is cleansed, the Bloodlust effect is permanent. This Totem can be seen by survivors from a 16/12/8m range. If one of the two Totems is cleansed, both are snuffed out. This totem cannot be protected by Hex: Undying.
"Let's just get this over with." - The Revenant
Sound Of The Drums
"The beating of their hearts fills you with anger and resentment."
Whenever a Survivor is put into the Dying state for the first time, you gain Killer Instinct on any survivors currently working on a Generator for 3/4/5s.
"I can hear you." - The Revenant
Hex: Without Mercy
"You have learnt how to move silently."
This Hex applies itself to a Totem at the beginning of the match. For as long as the Hex is active, your Terror Radius is reduced by 8m and you Vault 50/60/70% faster than usual.
