Botany Self Care questions
So Botany got changed.
Does the 50% speed increase even count when using a medkit?
Do Self Care and Botany stack? So 85% healing?
Asking because im talking to someone who is saying stuff I think isn't true.

Yes the increase counts with a medkit. You basically heal at the same rate as someone else healing you.
When using Self-Care and Botany together the plus 50% from Botany is 50% of the Self-Care healing speed. So you gain plus 50% to the 35% of Self-Care. Meaning with the combo you heal at 52.5% of normal speed. Or about 30.5 seconds assuming you don't hit any great skill checks.

Selfcare+botany=85%

It's multiplicative not additive. Unless they changed that at some point.

Botany counts for all healing, self and altruistic, with and without medkits.
Self Care and Botany are multiplicative, and in DBD, bonus are all applied before penalties are applied.
The full calculation for Botany and Self Care is:
- 16 charges to heal, which is normally at 1 charge per second. 16c ÷ 1c/s = 16s.
- Botany applies +50%, which now becomes 1.5 c/s. 16c ÷ 1.5c/s = 10.67s.
- Self Care reduces Self Healing to 35%, which becomes 1.5 × 0.35 = 0.525c/s. 16c ÷ 0.525c/s = 30.48s.
A medkit is also affected by Botany, but has 33% less self heal efficiency and 33% less healing speed. So for medkits the calculations are:
- 16 charges to heal, medkits consume 1 medkit charge (mc) for every 0.6667 of charges healed on the survivor (sc) (ratio of 0.67:1). 16sc ÷ 0.6667 = 24mc.
- Charges healed on the survivor remains the same though. 16 survivor charges to heal, which is normally at 1 charge per second. 16c ÷ 1c/s = 16s.
- Botany applies +50%, which now becomes 1.5 c/s. 16c ÷ 1.5c/s = 10.67s.
- Medkits reduce Self Healing to 66.67%, which becomes 1.5 × 0.6667 = 1c/s. 16c ÷ 1c/s = 16s.
You can follow the same process for anything, e.g Strength in Shadows is at 70%, so SiS with BK = 16 ÷ (1.5 × 0.7) = 15.24s.
For healing, just do c ÷ c/s = s.
Any other thoughts on Botany UndeddJester?

Wasn’t the hit medkit efficiency scrapped in the last patch?

The Botany 20% penalty was scrapped yes, but the inherant 33% medkit penalty is still there.

Oh, right. Gotcha.

The self care + botony does still take a while to finnish healing, if they added up itd feel as fast as strength in shadows, which also gets buffed by botony

Botany is additive, but the medkit 33% speed decrease is multiplicative, so it evens out to 100%

Self-Care and Botany is my favorite combo.

It’s pretty good if you need to body block for a teammate getting tunnelled. Take a hit to give the teammate time, quickly heal, rinse and repeat.

Not sure I follow this.
I assumed the speed would be 85%. Meaning you heal just 15% slower than "100%". 100% being the speed one heals another.
Where the hell does 52.5% come in?

The important rule here is that action speed increases are additive but penalties are multiplicative.
Self Care functions by applying a 65% heal speed penalty when using it (thus giving you the 35% heal speed that it lists).
Basically it looks like this for Botany + Self Care:
(1 + 0.5) * (1 - 0.65)
(1.5) * (0.35)
0.525
52.5% total healing speed
The healing time is 16 / 0.525 = 30.48 seconds

Because if you're using Self Care to heal you heal at 35%. If you bring Botany and start healing with Self Care you a 50% increase to the 35% rate at which you heal. Meaning you get 50% of the 35% which is 17.5%. The 17.5% is added to the 35% giving you 52.5%. If it was 85% Self Care/Botany Knowledge would be the meta.
