Ghoul confirmed getting Nerfed but later
In the reddit Ama Devs address are aware of ghoul friction points but ain't looking to change anything until a later date so my guess late 2025 or early 2026 for Ghoul to be nerfed
Question #25: Any plans to change The Ghoul?
Answer: "The Ghoul is on our radar. We are aware there are some friction points, which we'd like to address. However given the fact that he's still new to the roster, we're taking the necessary time to review everything before setting things in stone. Once we've reached that point, we'll make sure to share all the details." - Jeff
(OP Side note - in the replies to this question they said Kaneki vaulting a pallet while locking a survivor in place was "not a bug" but I'd give them the benefit of the doubt on this being some kind of mixup or something.)

They are milking this cow for all it's worth, trying to sell as many units as possible before proceeding with the nerfs.
I am also convinced that this scenario (Kaneki vaulting a pallet while Locking a survivor in place) is currently being deliberately labelled as fair for the same reason, only to be retracted in the future and classified as a bug, because something like this is beyond the limits of what is conceivable.
Here is the footage:

way back on release, I was hoping they'd nerf kidnap tech first and then base all needed nerfs from there. instead, I fear were gonna do the opposite by making him feel terrible just to keep this unfun interaction in.

This is where I stand as well with my perspective as well, I feel bad for killer players who are getting hyped to play something they feel like they are doing well with only to have it taken from them, that said Ghoul should never have been this strong in the first place and as I keep saying, their designer needs to play against an experienced one over and over again until they see the flaws in their design from a survivor point of view.
I'm really pleased they've been at least listening though and I do hope they fix it so I can not worry about my session being ruined by the killer, rather look forward to playing against them instead.
Coz I enjoy all the recent killers, I think Ghouls is the first I really really really hate.8 -
I would guess we will see similar scenario as with Chucky.
They keep Ghoul as he is for several months, then throw bunch of nerfs at him, so there is room for new killer.4 -
i know they won't because they value transparency, but i wish they'd just shadow drop the inevitable ghoul nerfs instead of announcing them 3+ weeks in advance. because that 3 week window is going to be the absolute worst time to play survivor if history is anything to go off of.
5 -
i remember last year in january when blight was announced to get his OP addons nerfed/reworked, the 3 weeks between the PTB and live was miserable on the live game. every other match was a blight with either compound 33 and adren vial, double speed, alch ring and crow, double iri, iri tag and crow, or adren vial with crow. it got to the point where i stopped playing survivor until the midchapter dropped because the game essentially turned into Dead by Blight.
4 -
so thats what, 4 nerfs the ghoul has gotten
-13 -
That is strange… so they say the "kidnap tech" is not a bug, but it's also not intended and that they plan to address it.
I work in software, if it's not intended and you plan on fixing it; it's a bug. I'm not sure what the aversion to labeling things as bugs is. Bugs happen, there's nothing to be ashamed of.4 -
I don't know why you are surprised. Blight and Nurse are the only S tier killers allowed. Any new killer that accidentally ends up in S tier will be nerfed to A or B tier shortly after release.
-13 -
they are not panicking and gutting him this is good, i like this approach
should have been a thing from the start but i guess skull merchant had to be the training wheel…
4 -
Tell me about it, and judging by the amount of downvotes on this thread, the loadest complainers are jupming for joy right about now.
-8 -
I hope they don't beat bushes and nerf it to the ground or rework. Free hits with auto aim and pallet vault while survivor is stunned is busted. From my experience Kaneki and Wesker are two kings of survivors auto DC from my lobbies.
-2 -
That remains to be seen could just be a slow gut but it's definitely better since people can enjoy playing him for awhile before the inevitable
2 -
All I face is tunneling Ghouls, so good riddance he deserved that thanks to p100 Ghouls who plays like that
3 -
well I kind of feel like once or twice is enough but I guess they'll nerf a killer as many times as the survivors want
-8 -
yea kind of like when they heard of the nurse nerf a while back, acted like it was the end of some oppression. seeing it in some posts talking about "Phase 2" cause 2 basekits werent enough, god forbid survivors use the counters that are already there.
Killers have to evolve and adapt. not survivors though, no no no
-7 -
That's kind of unfair for people who don't play like that don't you think?
-3 -
So much for changing Nurse and Blight, addon changed and or removed, and they're still the top two killers in DbD. Kaneki barely holds a candle to them, but ISTG people just want to cry and scream and demand he gets Skerchanted.

Being consistently steamroll 4k'd by a variety of killers isn't really better than it being done by 2. It's the losing every match part not the lack of variety.
6 -
You gotta pump those numbers up, those are rookie numbers
1 -
Typical bhvr tactic, he got nice skins and they sold a lot of ryze ( the girl one she screams less) now its time go make space for new one.
1 -
Ah yes the calls for him to get skull metchanted
-1 -
Good.
He's fun to play and easy to pick up, but the skill to reward ratio is wildly skewed with Ghoul.
7 -
That is a good thing.
Ghoul is extremely oppressive and leaves little room for counterplay, if any. He needs a nerf.
4 -
My Conspiracy Theory about this subject goes beyond that.
Not exactly Blight and Nurse are the only ones allowed. I say that no LICENCED killer is allowed to be top tier.
After they nerf Ghoul I fear for Dracula.0 -
Chucky is great example he came simular to ghoul easy and strong with rich kit, then he was slowly nerfed but not that harsh from beginning but after his 3 skins release then the bhvr balance nerfing began and he was trash, finally they reverted his last nerfs.
0 -
They tried to fix the bug called kidnap tech basicaly thats how he stuns you in place while he vaults something enraged now they see they cant fix it so its feature thats ok, they will nerf his vault hard and keep this bug as part of his power.
0 -
Just wait when they switch to nurse and blight they can tunnel even better than ghoul can sadly, that wont be funny either and even basekit ds wont stop them.
-2 -
I bet most Ghouls can't play Nurse or Blight. If you remember Spirit nerf or any other used to be S tier killer, only those who truly want to main it, kept playing it. Abusers moved to next "abuse". If anything, I would say they will move on Wesker. 2nd brain-dead killer after Ghoul
-3 -
Wesker with ton of bugs and having messy hitbox is a braindead killer that people can abuse? Woah
0 -
Wesker situation is kinda….interesting.
When released he was deemed as a "perfect" killer. Good on the right hands but has counterplay, the only two complains were "he tunnels easily" and "there are Weskers everywhere".
After years of not being touched he was hard nerfed. His tunneling ability went out with the removal or infection on hook and for some reason they also nerfed his full infection hindered mechanic.
When they fixed the bug where Wesker could grab you when you already vaulted a window it was not only fixed but also made it extremely difficult now to hit when vaulting over windows, much harder than most killers, most of the time you just "bump" on the window and not hit the survivor even when he is still in the animation.
The only thing he got buffed was his CD reduced by 0.5 seconds if i am not mistaken.
So Wesker seems to be far worse than when people called him "the most balanced killer", but now for some reason he is even more hated?
3 -
I don't hate it. I don't hate anything in this game. Wesker on my list is same boring as Ghoul. Even watching streamers play it, I don't understand where's the fun or interesting gameplay part. Wesker M2 most survivors in less than 20 sec chase unless it's highly cornered or closed map, or Wesker player fuckes up.
-2 -
Agreed, as much as I hate to say it, Ghoul will need to be taken down to Chuckey's level (if not lower) before BHVR can safely revert nerfs and buff him without gaining the ire of the shift+w gamers.
-2 -
Well, he's getting his "S techs" removed in the patch so that's already a nerf, technically.
0 -
I mean, technically, it's his power working as intended, but in an unexpected way. Which is what most "techs" are.
0 -
the survivors will just call those "exploits", just to demonize the term "tech"

Nurse isnt that hard killer to play as she is mediocre in skill, she is hard only when experienced survivors like 5k dwight. Blight is hard only with flicks and some textures like invisiable walls but after 20 matches you will do fine with him only difference between him and ghoul is that first hit isnt that easy as ghoul but then you have greater antiloop power with his dashes and catch up after breaking palett, very generous hit in form of shoulder flick which is almost impossible to doge if blight wont missplay it. Wesker is more harder maybe harder than blight if we count what you can pull with each killer, wesker is very generous to survivors with his dashes hitting someone mid vaulting and he wont imedeatly vault behind them only gets stuck behind vault or is forced to use second dash ( thats why he is so easy to bait into vaulting the window like in the shack if he hesitates he wont get any value from his dash only he will slow himself down),each dash has 5,5 seconds cooldown and is more restriced in chase not like blights 4 dashes ( not counting 5 because first cant injure you) with more range and breaking ability, when wesker grabs you and then falls down even from single step or hill ( same thing has demogorgan with charged shread) he will drop survivor with like 2 seconds cooldown whitch is just free escape or open areas like field on coldwind you need some object to slam survivor into or throw into to injure him blight needs to bump into some object but easiest is just when survivor is near some vault and you are like 5-8 meters away just rush near vault and use second dash to get easy hit. Comparing wesker one of hardest killers who is lower a-tier being braindead to s-tiers which are braindead by default and broken with op powers is just crazy like many players miss blights hug tech even when he didnt even needed it to be still second best killer in the game (just look what you needed in skill and experience to pull blights hug tech and what you need to pull wesker one of the hardest even maybe hardest tech in dbd like his instahug tech). Nurse just plays only with her power but ignores all loops and creates her own looping in changing direction and using objects to block view ( los), blight is just super agressive with strong mobility including strong antiloop and wesker is one of well balanced characters in the game he has good strong sides but still big counterplays. Try to play wesker without egg on rounded loop you will find its way to harder the blight and you have only one max two tryes to get hit that have to be perfectly done compare to bligh who can just get power faster and break palett if he missplays and catch up the same as ghoul with more antiloop.
2 -
I miss when we had 3 S tier killers. Spirit was nerfed to hard. Even though I don't think Ghoul is up there with Nurse and Blight, if survivors just want those two, then its just those two they get. 🙃
1 -
Problem is they are bad at fixing killers nerfed to ground only salvation is rework max year after killer has been gutted and that only happens if most of comunity likes the killer or most survivors just cryes that this killer stoped existing like billy who was both loved by comunity and hated by devs ( if they get leatherface sooner he wouldnt even exist thats why overheat nerf came right after leatherface rework with charges) and liked by survivors in term to go against and looping.
1 -
Or more accurately, its a tech when some survivors do it, but an exploit if it's on killer. At least that's how it feels to me. And I'm saying this as a 70-40 killer to survivor player.
0 -
Agreed, people only liked Billy once he was nerfed so hard he was easily one of the most loopable killers in the game. So that when he was buffed (perhaps a little over buffed imho) people instantly started to hate seeing him because he was able to counter the shift+w to pallets and loops.
Much like Kaneki imho, funny how patterns repeat eh? Like yes, I'll concede that Kaneki needs some numbers adjustments, kidnap tech needs to go, but he doesn't need or deserve an outright gutting.
