Not complaining about the charms and stuff because they look cool but because that we requested so many times for a spider killer for years on end and then you saying "We got no plans for a spider killer" and refuting the Joroguma rumors through social media then adding all that is a huge ballbreaker.

A spider themed killer would be a cool idea, but I am firmly in the camp of getting a velociraptor as a creature-based killer instead.

Are they still trying to die on that phobia hill?

Well they did say they weren't going to add a clown because of coulrophobia but we got him. I think they said something like 'the only spider legs in the fog belong to the entity. We have no plans of adding a spider killer to the game.' I think it was on twitter if I remember correctly.

I’m going to need you to get behind this or I’m telling them to turn tryks into a killer

There's been a lot of discussion about it amongst the player base, with people not wanting a spider killer for that reason. I recall hearing that BHVR was taking that into account as an accessibility issue but I can't confirm it, but I've heard that they cited that reason in the grapevine quite a bit. I've just never seen the words from them myself.

It's an absurd idea though. This is a horror game and quite a lot of common fears and anxieties are amply on display with characters like Blight and Clown.

    that’s false

Mathieu cote had an interview and was asked about the spider killer.

He said they are not adding a arachnophobia mode. So that means we will see a spider killer if they add one. But they won’t add a arachnophobia mode

Either you haven't been reading the discussions on the issue, or you're picking and choosing only the things you agree with and the ones you can attack. Its fine if you don't care about accessibility issues, but this is a game that people have been devoting up to nearly a decade on. You can't make those decisions lightly, and if you refuse to even bother remembering the arguments, I'm glad you don't have a say.

I haven't followed it closely but most of what I've seen is people feeling about the same way I already expressed, though they're expresing is often a bit more blunt. There's a very easy to find Reddit post with over a thousand comments that have quite a lot of agreement on the issue, many from people with this specifc fear. If you took every anxiety into account than there'd be no game. It's a game where innocent people get murdered in horrible ways by a variety of monsters over and over, forever. Arachnophobia is one specific fear in dbd's ocean of fears.

But I have no problem with addressing phobias. I actually think it'd be cool if you could go to the settings and opt out of being paired with one killer for that reason. Not sure how you'd keep people from doing it for killers they just don't like though. I have my own deep fear. It gives me intense—sometimes crippling—anxiety. I don't call it a phobia because fears and phobias aren't the same, and I've never had a proper diagnosis. It's also in the game, yet here I am, experiencing it regularly.

The easiest way to address this would be to removed DC penalties so as soon as you hear the music for the killer that triggers you, you can just leave.

The issues concerning Plague and Clown get addressed most times it comes up, which just in case you just haven't seen it come up, the argument is that when elements are already in the game, they require extra work to accommodate (which still doesn't get done, and is long overdue.) If you continue adding more already knowing the issues they introduce, you are telling those customers that you do not care about their money. People who want spiders in the game are more likely to be retained regardless of their absence than people unable to deal with them being able to stick it through as continuous players. This applies to all accessibility concerns regarding mechanics and elements.

Edit: This isn't even getting into concepts like psychosomatic reactions that can accompany phobias, the difference between safe and unsafe horror, or even just the difference between good and bad adrenal responses. Even from a business standpoint, you make these decisions early in a game's life or not at all. But especially not after billions of blood points across years of matches.

Maybe, now hear me out, that the <~0.1% of people with horror-themed phobias, so extreme and pathetic they can't function when a video game depiction of that phobia is present, SHOULDN'T BE PLAYING A HORROR THEMED GAME.

By addressed, do you mean they say "we hear you" and do absolutely nothing? And where exactly is the line drawn? Many people are scared of being attacked by dogs and, unlike spider fears (since most spiders are harmless to humans), they might have actually had a dog attack experience in their life. Did they factor that in to Houndmaster, a fairly recent killler? What about Chucky and doll fears? What about Blight and needle fears? I imagine the amount of people with these fears being so intense they can't play this very fake looking game would be extremely low. Pandering to this one specific fear doesn't make a lot of sense to me when they continue to release other common triggers. The argument of not adding spiders won't make anyone who's already here leave grinds the game to a halt, because everything is someone's intense fear.

They're generally radio silent on anything having to do with accessibility unless its a fire they need to put out. There have been a few crumbs about things like allowing aura colors to be changed (something that has been recommended as an option for years, and should be relatively easy to implement) but they rarely even bother with posts about hearing players' concerns. I'm going to be completely honest, if you're trying to fall back onto a slippery slope argument, you've already forgotten what I specified earlier, once something is in the game, you have to put in extra work to "fix" it. You avoid that work by not introducing it in the first place. I am very consistent about this every time it comes up, and regularly offer practical ideas on a case by case basis for them to try to lead things in the right direction, accessibility is not about being crabs in a bucket.

The argument of not adding spiders won't make anyone who's already here leave grinds the game to a halt, because everything is someone's intense fear.

Again, this is why I wasn't even getting into what effects phobias actually have on people, I kept it strictly to a business standpoint. Even if you can't understand any of the physical or mental aspects, you should at least be able to understand the importance of not alienating players who are part of the reason your game has even existed for nearly a decade just for something some people find neat. You can argue about things like potential profit vs player retention, but you lose a LOT more goodwill than you gain within a community when you disregard existing players like that. You're supposed to reward retention in a community, not spite it.
