Why is Streetwise not killswitched?

This right here is why I took it upon myself to just killswitch all of DBD until these bugs are fixed. How tone deaf can a developer be?

Btw. Truly incredible how stubborn BHVR is being over something that so obviously should be killswitched. Can the devs just pack it up and admit they are in the wrong here? So much negativity could have been so easily avoided if they would just use the feature they made for exact cases like this!!!

StreetWise + Botany + Resilience + CoH

Alright then that's my bad, but still the other 3 having infinite charges is inherently a huge problem it's why they have charges to begin with
-1 -
And what do you want to say?
0 -
You heard it here first, folks. Straight from BHVR themselves:
- Streetwise does not warrant a kill switch despite making gens permanently take half the usual time.
- Streetwise actually does not impact that many games.
- Abusing Streetwise will not get you banned and the "exploits" section of the report function serves no purpose.
As this is the new survivor meta, it is quite clear that BHVR are encouraging you to abuse this as much as you can while it lasts. Infinite toolboxes are balanced, 30 second gens are balanced, and the one perk that could have countered it had that entire function removed.
Go wild, everyone!

I am a p100 oni Infinite charge medkits feel like I can't get power consistently no matter how well in playing
1 -
I personally disagree with not killswitching Streetwise. It's definitely not server-crashing levels of broken, but it's a very powerful exploit. I don't know if it works on items survivors bring in, too (I.E. can a survivor bring a medkit with speedy healing addons and do the glitch to get infinite use?) or if the survivor is only limited to the RNG of whatever item is inside the chest, but it's still something that enables infinite flashlight/toolbox/medkit.
Either killswitch it or at least prioritize a bugfix asap because it's impacting games significantly if survivors are getting faster healing/repairing literally the entire match.

These posts cannot be real.
2 -
Not a problem, it gives me a comment I can link to in case another user mentions it further down the thread.
I believe he's trying to suggest how you could get more heals out of a medkit.
-1 -
To answer your question, no, it does not work on items that you already bring in. If survivors want to guarantee a medkit with good add-ons, they can bring Pharmacy and Ace in the Hole alongside Streetwise to obtain the desired medkit.

I'm really disappointed about the situation:
First, there are many threads - here and on social media - that tell you, the developers, to kill switch Streetwise because it feels so stupid when someone abuses the bug to get an unfair advantage. At the very least, once the community comes to the agreement that something needs to be kill switch, you should talk about it and maybe change your criteria in this specific case. Having requirements is a good thing, so no one can abuse the system mindlessly, but there are also exceptions.
Next, not getting banned for abusing an exploit is insane to me. People abuse this bug to get an unfair advantage and it's not about losing or winning a match due to a bug abuser, it is also a sad statement for the community that these people get away with it scotty free. We don't need players who abuse exploits to get an unfair advantage or to make the game miserable for other players. Don't you think it is a sad statement?
Lastly, i know it is your job to communicate between the developers and the community but I feel really sorry for you - not only when some people are really ######### to you or any other CM. Even when the situation is bad, there is no reason to be rude to anyone. I wish one of the employees who told you "no, it doesn't get kill switched" would communicate with us in that case. So, at the very least, the one who causes this miserable situation gets our feedback directly and knows how we feel about it. Even now, when I write this message, it doesn't address the one who refuses to kill Switch Streetwise, but I also can not sit here and say nothing about a miserable situation.
Overall, it is not only about kill switching something to stop bug abusing, it is also about the health and happiness of the community aas well as having a good relationship between you, the developers, and us, the community.

Extremely tone deaf responses. What are the downsides of disabiling this perk versus keeping it in the game? This should be an extremely easy question to answer and draw a conclusion from after 9 years of development.
19 -
I reread this thread and I'm still cackling at just how ballsy their response to Streetwise has been
"Exploiting it isn't bannable :) also we're not going to killswitch it :) also we'll act offended at you thinking we should killswitch it :) there's so many other bugs and if we ban this one perk then we gotta killswitch everything sweaty :)"
"it's not exploited enough to be an issue for us to kill switch :) despite everyone complaining about it :)"
Like wow.12 -
They are being rude in the discord
5 -
They can‘t bann someone for something that is their vault. People who use this bug are only using mechanics that behavior added to the game.
2 -
They are :)
I wonder what other bugs they're alluding too. Maybe For The People crashing people's games? (Also not killswitched despite meeting the criteria of breaking people's games and making them unplayable)
14 -
What do you mean? The mod or the players?
-1 -
Do you have video or logs for this glitch, or a bug report thread you'd be able to link to? If none of these, potentially a way to replicate it so I can test it myself later tonight?
-2 -
They hae stated many times, that with the killswitch existing, they will never ban someone for exploiting a bug with something that can be killswitched. If they feel it is bad enough, they will kill switch it. No point in banning people for it.
4 -
The mod.

What happened there? I thought behavior doesn‘t Look over the Discord.
-1 -
This is a stupid reason to not use the kill switch.
A bug like this that is localized to a single perk should just be switched off until they can fix it.
This isn't something like "an issue with chests" that I might be able to see being "hard or impossible to disable", it's one perk, and this is the entire reason the kill switch was installed.
It was the same thing with merciless storm, but just because you screwed up and didn't kill switch something like that back then isn't a reason to keep avoiding it. At least learn from those mistakes and do better this time.
6 -
That can't be real.
PLEASE. Tell me that isn't a real message. Please, please tell me that wasn't typed out and send with the full confidence that this is worthy of going "gottem, that'll justify the decision".
"It isn't even the worst bug we have right now" That's because this entire patch is an annihilated mess!!! How is that a point in your favour?? Why is this a hill your company is deciding to die on? What does this accomplish?

Crashing might have been the wrong word but regardless the same sentiment of not being able to complete games if this bug happens.

The "gamebreaking" threshold has not prevented use of the kill switch before. Back in the Bone Chill event, Houndmaster's bonus movement speed from Search could be maintained permanently by hopping into event snowmen while using the Chase command. This resulted her being killswitched during the entire Bone Chill event, which lasted almost a month and meant players could not enjoy the new Killer in the new event.
The Streetwise bug is far more gamebreaking than Houndmaster was in the event since even a few uses of the exploit will give an item so many charges it is functionally infinite, and the case to keep the brand new Killer playable after she had been out less than two weeks was far more compelling than a single perk.
If Houndmaster deserved the killswitch back in December, I fail to see why Streetwise doesn't deserve it now.
21 -
Isn't the entire point of the Kill Switch functionality that it is easy to do and can be applied to anything on the back-end without the need for a patch? This means something doesn't need to be game breaking to be Kill Switched. Anything even remotely bugged should be disabled unless it's some shiny new paid character that they can't afford to disable.
11 -
Oh boy, the tweet it's quoting also is a whole list of other bugs like survivors sliding under pallets or killers being stuck in place holding survivors.
0 -
They are there, search their user on that discord. I shouldn't say anymore, i fear i am going to get banned on these forums with what i've already said.
7 -
"I am not discounting the frustration or feedback"
Yes you are though, thats exactly what youre doing. Thats what the devs always do, they always discount what the killer's experience is. Killers are expected to be the adults in the situation and have patience that far exceeds whats expected of survivors. You devs know for a fact how it is when survivors have a bug affecting them, and youl fix those ones within a week tops, but then you will expect killers to put up with broken scratch marks from 6-12 months.
"It is a nuclear option"
So melodramatic, for what? Streetwise went from a perk you literally never see, to seeing it at least once per game, solely because of an exploit. Your take is indefensible.
7 -
I'm just going to call out - abusing this bug is STUPID. You spend 5 minutes at a chest swapping items to increase the charges to make a gen go a little faster (no its not twice the speed of normal progress like people inferred above), but in reality you could just bypass that extra step and get on a gen normally with probably faster results.
Some people just do not understand logic and want to do the cool new thing like the sheep they are.
-21 -
this is proof once and for all this dev team are the most incompetent people in the game industry. Infinite charge items that lower the gen time a lot are not game breaking according to these BHVR developers.
And what actually are the team aware of? Cause every damn chapter and paragraph there are more bugs. These "devs" will killswitch things in this game over much less.
God, BHVR, you make it so ######### hard to be a fan of this game. Christ, If i worked as a dev for this company, I would be embarrassed to say so.
6 -
The worst part is that this does affect survivors! Not only is this making survivor queue longer (due to people wanting to abuse the exploit for free Iri 1 in surv and killers not playing due to the glitch), but the time taken to abuse the exploit means that the team is technically down a member for until the exploiter finishes, as well as the fact that the exploited items can be used to benefit the other survivors via healing and permablinding does make it affect the survivors.
8 -
10 swaps at a chest gives a Commodious item 11000~ charges. This is not "5 minutes" unless your controller lost a fight to a grenade, and you're missing both of your hands.
And yes - the literal % increase that an Engineer Toolbox will increase your repair speed is 100%. Aka, twice the speed. You can check the wiki, you can check in game, you are outright delusional if you just decide to not believe this.
Even a BROWN toolbox will increase speed by 50% - and if you don't think permanently doing every generator 50% faster isn't completely broken, you are utterly clueless about anything to do with this game's balance.
23 -
Don't be surprised if they either remove this thread or lock it. BHVR really dislike getting criticized I've noticed. I made a Reddit post about how the mods and the automod are way too strict. Because they remove so many posts for no reason. Even that post got removed. It got over 100 upvotes and everybody was basically agreeing with me. It was a civil discussion. But nope.
Here are screenshots of the post: Click here for screenshots

I find it ironic that the most downvoted comment on these forums BY FAR is going to be on a dev's comment, lol. I wonder when this thread will mysteriously disappear so ppl can't see it hit 100 downvotes.
13 -
Don’t worry DEVS, when the time comes, we’ll gladly hand you the Labor of Love award… wrapped in all the disappointment you've worked so hard to earn.
2 -
It should be kill switched.
Very strange decision.
7 -
Honestly this is an absurd view on this. As a SWF you can literally escape in a couple minutes, I know because I ran it with 3 friends all with the build for add-ons etc. and genuinely there's no way this isn't 'game breaking'. Sure it takes setup time, but with multiple players it's beyond broken. If it's 'not game breaking' why do items even have charges? Things have been killswitched for less, and rightly so.
This approach is disappointing given that player sentiment is in the ditch. From the cake nerfs in the event, the event being lackluster, to now releasing the worst update in years. There's so much that should have shown up in Q/A or that was flagged from PTB but still these things hit live.
I know you're only the messenger, but honestly this is so disappointing to see.5 -
What I am reading from this is that if it doesn’t literally crash the game, it’s not considered “game-breaking” and will therefore not be killswitched
And since BHVR for some reason stopped banning people for abusing ######### like this even though it is both incredibly obvious and has zero chance of ever being done on accident, people basically just have Carte Blanche to keep abusing this until it gets fixed, if it even does
What timeline am I living in and can I please leave it2 -
This isn't relevant to this, as the subreddit is not moderated by BHVR but by its own mod team.
-2 -
You heard it here first, folks! Tunnel and slug, bring your nastiest builds - it's okay!
"doesn't happen enough" is a load of bullshit. I get this kind of thing 9 out of 10 games. it ABSOLUTELY happens often enough. If all survivors are going to do is rush everything down with an exploit, I'm going to tunnel and slug like crazy - no exceptions. First person I see in a match is ######### from now on.
3 -
the timeline diverged whenever a reddit post blew up confirming that "sex in dbd" was tied to Plagues infected breakable walls which prompted the sudden "plague can no longer infect breakable walls"
I'm telling ya man
1 -
Can I speak to a manager please, because the thought process for this is nuts, disable this perk or toolboxes.
2 -
Remember that there's an entire perk for cleansing/blessing a totem (14 seconds) that increases repair speed 10-20% until hit.
Streetwise takes like… 10 seconds of glitching it, maybe, to give you a toolbox that increases repair speed for the entire rest of the trial by AT MINIMUM 50%.
This is a ######### joke, BHVR. And yet, also entirely unsurprising as the "our data says this unhealthy thing isn't being abused ENOUGH to care about" has been their cause for allowing all manner of bullshit ######### use to make the rest of the playerbase miserable for DBD's entire lifespan, whether it was facecamping, unavoidable locker saves, body blocking, the works. They have to be dragged kicking and screaming for every single change and still have the gall to condescend about how they have the magical data that says everybody is complaining about nothing.
5 -
Very disappointing to hear, and frankly completely unacceptable.
14 -
You know, one of the devs once said 'we look at the data and analytics of the game and try to understand the context of why things happen, we don't just take blanket decisions based on raw data'. And i believed him.
Seems i was mistaken, not only are decisions made in a way that it really looks like the people in charge of them don't actually play the game, but also every decision is pretty much just based on numbers, and that's it. There is no brain used, just 'if problem affects at least x players, we care about it, if not, we just don't bother'.
And then you guys try to ask to be voted for labor of love, please show some respect to your customers.
12 -
I agree that the bug abusers are jerks and they really should be prioritizing fixing the bug so it isn't abusable, but 50% is not twice the speed, it's 1.5x the speed. Not that it matters - even getting 1.5x speed is ridiculous enough. Just think it's important to be accurate when describing things
-2 -
Doesn't matter who is behind the moderation. BHVR or not, the company has good relations and ties to that subreddit. It's used by BHVR for feedback and communications. Maybe it would be better if BHVR would to distance oneself from it? Because that place is NOT it.
-2 -
Wait, what reddit post was that?
