Why does this game have so many fake content creators?
N.B. Just to make it clear, I'm not naming anyone in particular, just generally discussing a trend I've noticed. This isn't intended to be an attack or anything, I'm legitimately curious about this. Also putting this in the off-topic section because it's a bit random.
With that aside, has anyone else noticed this game has a noticeable population of players who put LIVE, TTV, YT, TT, etc. in their username or bio, but when you go to check them out, you find that either:
- No account exists on the platform under that name or anything similar.
- An account exists under that name but it's blank and has never been used.
- An account exists and has content on it, but all of it is years old.
I'm somebody who likes to watch my killer games back from the survivor's POV afterwards, so if I see a content creator in my lobby I normally check out their page afterwards. But about 9/10, it's one of the above situations and I'm just left confused as to why they would put it in their user or bio.
I've encountered this four times in the past 2 days. Is this just a joke to get people to waste their time or something? I've never seen this in any game other than DbD lol

Just encountered more.
Obviously I've had to scribble out the start of the names, but you can see they both end in a variation of TTV but neither of these are real Twitch profiles. It's so bizarre lol. It must be an inside joke or something haha

Just leads to a blank Twitch profile that has never streamed.
I've seen so many lately it's almost conspiratorial lmao.

If they're console they have to pay to change their names but otherwise idk

A lot of the time it's console players who can't change their name freely like on PC.
They go "oh yeah I'll put my twitch in my name for when I'm streaming" and then they never end up streaming, and they can't change their name because it usually costs money.

Ahh I never knew that. That could explain some of it. Kind of wild that you get charged for something as standard as changing a name. Console companies are kind of greedy for that.

They might be rage baiting to get Killer to tunnel them harder. Kinda like bagging to initiate chase.

If that’s what they’re doing then kudos to them for the ingenuity. Very creative strategy.
I’m not the kind to tunnel over that, but I can see it working on a lot of killers.
