Is Clown and Ghoul going to be changed again?
I feel that clown is way over tuned… and often is very unbalanced.. especially stacking speeds. 27% faster clown is just not fun to go against, especially if you get a map that is tiny and only spawns in 8 or less pallets (which happens a lot to me lately).

A community manager confirmed on the forums that Clown will be getting some changes in the next PTB.
As for Ghoul, I believe it was stated on Reddit some time ago in a Q and A that he's on the radar for tweaks.

He was 25% faster for the past few years before this update. Why weren't you complaining, then?
-16 -
Maybe because people primarily used the hindered bottle (which takes aim, prediction, and was actual PVP interaction with counter play) and situationally used the haste bottle (which takes throwing it at your own feet).
25% haste that has about 5% uptime vs 27% haste that has nearly permanent uptime.
I seem to recall that "free, permanent haste" starts breaking the game at 3%, especially when it stacks with other haste. That was made very clear by the community a while back.

Because they messed up when they made the yellow bottle activation nearly instant. It is way too easy to use, since you just throw the bottles on the ground where you need to go, and you get the speed boost right away. That is what leads to zero counterplay for the survivors.
Before, there was a significant delay to the yellow bottle mist, where it took around 2 seconds before the speed boost activated, which required you to plan ahead when using the yellow bottles.

Clown isn't exactly overtuned. Just in an unhealthy spot.
-6 -
Because it used to take 2.5 and more recently 2 seconds for the yellow bottles to activate so they had to be thrown a long way ahead to be worthwhile to use. It was very rare to play against a Clown that used them well. Now though it's just brain dead no skill play with haste stacking add ons and perks. Completely killed any skill with Clown.

Well then you agree that it's not the 2% that matters, despite what OP implies. They dumbed down Clown so much that every peon can now do what above average Clowns already could mostly do for the past 2 years. Hell, could also argue that previous yellow Clown was sometimes stronger than current one thanks to Cigar Box actually being a thing.

for someone who has okayed for a while and reads the forums and generally handstands the flux of buffs and nerfs, I can usually ride out a storm in a teacup such as this and try not to let things get to me if I can help it. But I sometimes play with a friend who is really new to the game and I can see they’re on the verge of giving up on the game as the learning curve is so steep. It’s difficult enough trying to explain to them the various powers and perks and how to (in theory, as I myself can’t lol) deal with them. But with this iteration of Clown, and the frequency of which we face them, I can say that they are really not liking the experience.
I often tell friends new to the game: you will need patience and expect to die A LOT. Expect things that will feel unfair at times but just hang in and you’ll get better and enjoy the game as time goes on.But it is getting more and more difficult for new players to adjust or acclimatise when their experience is game after game of Clowns who are constantly on their back within seconds.

good lord.. I can’t edit my many typos lol please forgive me

Yeah, it's the activation speed that is the problem not the actual yellow bottles themselves.

this is so true, my partner who I introduced to dbd gave up and uninstalled it… he was facing the ghoul and clown and I felt bad for him as I could see how unfair it was.

They just need to put the activation speed back to what it was. I could count on one hand the amount of Clowns I've faced in almost 4 years before this that were good at using both bottles well together, there was a P100 TTV I played against a while back that was amazing with them, the best Clown I'd ever faced.
But now can imagine he's next to impossible for people new to the game to play against. You need pretty much perfect pathing and judgement to run him for any length of time. Something I definitely don't have after nearly 4 years so what chance do new players have?

Not just newer players, also us who are well into the 1000's of hours, and good at looping other killers are struggling against this version of the Clown, since we'd make no distance, whatsoever. I have close to 7 years of experience with the game by now.
You can win every mindgame, and still go down quickly, because you simply cannot run away once he is on to you.The only grace period you have is when he has to reload the bottles, but that downside is quickly eaten up when he throws down the next yellow after reloading. It's a lose-lose situation playing against him in this state, or at least looping against him.
The only counterplay I have seen is to use cosmetics that blends in well with the environment, play like a rat around gens, and hope he does not use Nowhere to Hide.10 -
Funny is Clown kinda shows it's simply impossible for lower tier killers match top tier killers in general.
He is miserable to play against, yet still worse then best killers overall. Lack of map pressure is simply too big of a deal.
-1 -
They said he will receive changes and not a revert which worries me there trying to keep it but shifting a lil
2 -
The difference is other killers can get into more frequent chases as they can zoom from gen to gen. But typically their chases are pretty standard where looping mind games can get you an escape or really punish the killer.
Clown still needs to walk up to any gen giving him less game pressure but you can't mind game loop or any other tricks to escape. So really the only counter is hiding from him.

He has access to the best map pressure in the game; fast chases. If you struggle with him (including with his few previous versions) then that's not a Clown issue. Respectfully.

I still see clowns using purple bottles you can usually escape against these ones, but the knowers you can't do anything against, only use yellow, rapid brutality+STBFL, hard tunnel someone asap it's very very hard to counter this
the fact they didn't hotfix him in the same patch with fog vials is really laughable I have to say, please lil bros start playing your own game

Yes, and I hope it doesn't take too long, especially when it comes to Ghoul.
This killer is an affront to DBD's design. Far too oppressive and unfair.
5 -
Next PTB should have both Clown nerfs and Ghoul nerfs as well
1 -
I really hope so, my friend.

Purples can still be useful to prevent a rushed vault but that's about it. Even on release yellow bottles were more used than purples now are. BHVR designers truly have a special talent for creating problems by fixing problems that didn't exist.

Even not being new I'm dying constantly and it's really dragging me down. It wouldn't be so bad if the killers were simply better players and I was outdone, but it's more like this situation, with zero-ability zoomzoom Clowns steamrolling me.
I've played 12 survivor games tonight. I've died in 9 of them. That's, what, a 25% escape rate? In those matches, I died three(!) times on my first hooking thanks to camping. I was aggressively tunnelled out of another three. And two had egerious with slugging. That's eight of the nine deaths that all featured garbage tactics by trash players who refuse to simply learn how to participate in active gameplay. Killer mains complain about survivors holding W or using fog vials to avoid chase, then they use all these tactics that help them avoid chase, cause that's all their doing when they kill me with one hooking or leave me on the ground for three minutes.
I don't think I'd try to convince anyone to play this game as it is right now. As least, not as survivor.

I don't play Clown, I am pretty sure most players were able to win their games even before his change…
But you want to tell me you consider current Clown stronger than Nurse, or Blight?
0 -
Oi, you went from "overall" to Nurse and Blight. Gaslighting much? 😏
0 -
No need to gaslight, when it was written from the beginning :)
I clearly wrote it as top tier killers. Who do you think top tier/best killers are? Considered by majority of players those are Nurse and Blight. Noone is better than those two.
So nice try, but yet again. You think current Clown is better than top tier/best killers?0
