The attack on titan killer skins were enabled in 2v8
Idk if anyone has talked about it but the armored titan and the war hammered titan for oni and spirit were enabled for this 2v8 iteration and you used to not be able to wear the skins in 2v8. Could this be a bug? Or did BHVR re negotiate a new deal for the AOT cosmetic collection to return possibly?

...they're gonna bring back my little oni with this, aren't they? Seems like such a missed opportunity if not.

What do you mean by “worked their magic”??? Like the cosmetics are returning or they were only able to get permission to use the killer skins in 2v8?

sadly, all we know thus far is that the skins themselves have been blessed for 2v8.
to me, that's an...optimistic sign. I was previously despairing we'd never have the skins in 2v8 at all, but now that they are here it's definitely possible. it means bhvr and the licence holders talked so that's a good sign. originally, the licence was 1 year only, take it or leave it.
I'm hoping it'll come back sometime this year for the folks who missed it.
