So... apparently BHVR uses the FREE version of Easy Anti Cheat

A well know youtuber just released a 48 min video about all the things that happened since BHVR asked for Labor of Love last year, then came the Operation Health, the issues leading to TWD chapter, it's release and etc.
At the end he talks about specifically cheats and this can be surmised into two points:

1-The server should handle "resolutions" instead of the client.
2-The point I want to highlight here: BHVR seems to be using the FREE version of Easy Anti Cheat! SERIOUSLY?!

It's impossible to prevent cheats in any game unfortunately, but if these two points above would be addressed then We would have WAY less cheats ruining our matches.

Link to video? I’m interested to learn how they know what version of EAC that is being used for this game.

Last time I linked a video I got banned for 30 days under the "no name shaming" or whatever reason.
One more ban and I'm cooked for good.

    Definitely interesting and worth investigating.
I'm not blindly thrusting the video, but the evidences make sense.

EAC is free to developers, (or at least those using the Unreal Engine/Account services) is it not? There is no 'paid' or premium version from what I can see.

I’ve said this many times before - I don’t think BHVR is going to do anything differently unless they start bleeding players. Their player count recently shot up to all-time high despite some really messy content releases, a couple notable PR disasters and what some say is an ongoing problem with cheaters (to be fair, I haven’t seen a blatant cheater in a very long time). There’s no incentive for them to do anything differently unless they are put under financial pressure to do so, which apparently hasn’t happened yet.

I believe Ardatha brought up very good points which should atleast be looked into.

The game which is there biggest success yet has free anti cheat just doesn't make sense or i cant wrap my head around it, in the video it states that epic (owners on EAC or so I assume) will help implement said anti cheat into there game so its not like its gonna be a whole lot of trouble.

We all love this game, it could and should have a super bright future with amazing creations but with everything going on recently where even Otzdarva can't even suggest something just isn't looking to good.

Im sure something good will come out of this, I sure hope so

Which is unfortunate, because when there is financial pressure, the game will be in an almost unrecoverable death spiral.

Really glad more people are becoming aware of the things Ardetha put in the video.😁

Pretty much everything with EAC uses EOS these days, and there is no way to know the extent to which Unreal provides support to DBD or any other games that use EOS.

Arderpa is just cashing in on the recent climate of rage that has infested this community of late with another poorly informed take. His """""expert""""" didn't seem to offer any pertinent information, either.

I'm sure the developers are scratching their heads or more likely laughing their asses off at this bollocks.

Btw, the game had cheaters long before they switched to EOS.

    Yeah. And?

I was talking specifically about the claim in the title of the thread that DBD uses the """free""" EAC, as if BHVR are cheaping out on anti-cheat software, even though every other EAC game uses the exact same thing.

The problem is more that EAC sucks in general. Which is brand new information, btw. Totally need Arderpa to tell me that.

If it's the same video I'm thinking of they never go on to elaborate on why that is a bad thing in the first place. They mention a few examples of features that were incorrectly implemented in the past and have since been corrected but that's with the free version - they didn't need to upgrade to fix anything. They don't actually mention any limitations the free version has that would otherwise be present in the paid.

    • Guys, I'm no expert, but it seems IMPOSSIBLE to me that DBD has a "free" anti-cheat system. Are we sure these claims are true?
