Aren't The Cages in 2v8 Supposed to move to prevent camping?
Aren't the cages supposed to move if the killers are close for a certain amount of time in 2v8? I have seen multiple occasions of the two killers camping a cage to get to second or last stage, and the cage has never moved. Just wondering if this feature was removed?

They changed last iteration to not move as easily. It's really random now as to whether they do or not.

The worst moment I've had on 2v8 was when both killers were proxy camping a feng in a cage and for whatever reason the cage would just not move so she went into second stage
I managed to sneak past them while a few other survivors were distracting them and JUST as I was about to pull the feng out of the cage, the game decided it was finally time to move her into a new location where there were no players and she ended up dying.
I felt so bad for her

They seem to take longer to move now

Strangely enough it seems the killers can also easily predict where a cage is going to go.
I had a spirit that downed me, then came all the way to my cage to proxy camp that. When it finally moved, 15 seconds later she had phased right to my cage again. Someone else had to trade just so I wouldn't get bullied out of the game.

Cage spawns aren't that hard to predict. It's like totem spawns: there can only be so many total, and you can easily learn them. With cages, it greatly narrows down the possibilities since it's trying to move "away" from you.
It's the main reason this cage system would be ineffective at deterring camping and tunneling in the main game.

At least you made the effort. I had a Nea the other day who was the best looper in the match. I finally nabbed her, and I ended up passing by her cage. Next time I saw her she was still there, second stage. I stood there a moment hoping it would move but it didn't budge, and her team let her die so they could play for hatches. I felt bad about it. At least in 1v4 I can facecamp until someone with bad teammates can unhook themself. There was nothing I could do in this one.

any amount of time on Pyramid Head makes this second nature tbh; the current cage mechanic works the way it does because killers can proxy camp the cage and whenever someone went to save, the killer could push the cage away to make the survivor die in the cage
idk what the solution is, just highlighting why we are in this situation

In 2v8 before they didnt move but now they do as they should it only takes some time to be in killers terror radius like 20 seconds and maybe it depends how close is the killer to the cage maybe.

The only times I've seen a cage move are the few times a teammate is going into second state and I am almost at the cage - killer won't even be nearby. Any times the killer has been nearby preventing a safe uncage the cage isn't moving. They should make it if someone is near the cage they have 15 seconds to make the unhook before the cage moves, that way it isn't moving in someones face but also doesn't stay in an area for an extended period with killer nearby.

Just give the choice to the caged player in 2v8. If the killer stays enough time near the cage survivor gets a button to press to move the cage. This would give the choice to the caged player if they see potential to get uncaged by someone there or move the cage.

I mean, are you surprised that it doesn’t work?

I'm not sure if that's the solution though, I've watched players loop killers in front of me until I've died and the cage not move like it's supposed to. The terror radius rule is just too small for the mechanic to gage if it should move or not, especially if both killers are near by. They're insanely easy to camp.
Also, if the killers are spread out, sometimes the cage will pop up waaaaaay too close to one of them. This puts the person in the cage in a situation where they bounce back and forth between areas of the map within Killer patrol and chase routes. I've had this happen on the ski lodge map a couple of times, since it's way too small to begin with.
I'm not sure what the solution is; ping a bigger radius, lower the move timer, etc. There are things they can try, but the root problem is that some of the maps being used for 2v8 are just far too small for the format.

What happens to the gens if the team is on-point and both killers choose to lurk around somebody in a cage?

Good for them, the gens get to actually play the game.
Oh wait, no. Gens aren't players.
Almost like, if the killer(s) are standing around doing nothing, it doesn't create any actual gameplay in the match.
Could you imagine if there were some kind of mechanic that discouraged the killers from standing around admiring a cage that already can't act?
They should really implement something that forces the killer to go actually play the game. Oh, hey, look: a thread about exactly that topic.
