Because it's a way for people to agree or disagree with you, without commenting. And with the game being asymmetrical, half of the players won't agree with you..

If you disagree with something though, you should at least explain why before you essentially put a rep on someone's post

Welcome to the forums, where reasonable is laughed at and logic is crying in the corner. We still don't really understand why it showed up effectively randomly.

people just use it to bury any type of opinion they dislike without actually saying why they dislike it, even if that opinion makes a lot of sense or even fanart
they just disallow people to have a proper and normal convos without some genless imp hitting downvote like the mindhive they are
downvotes shouldn't have came back

Oh I agree with you.. But it's purpose was to agree or disagree with the post.. Unfortunately when you give people toys, they play with them.

it's a good thing I'm a cenobite irl so I feed off the downvotes. I will say it's nice to show solidarity without needing to be quipped and sarcastic to contribute all the time; sometimes I wanna show my support by downvoting something silly but I don't have anything proper to add.
