I think this patch will finally make me want to play the game again
Honestly reading everything about his patch seems great
It might actually revive the survivor players by making it so not every game is a confirmed loss
Killer players will now get into matches much faster because of it aswell they get basekit bbq!
Literally all killer players need to do is not tunnel and theyre given really decent basekit buffs
Survivor players will be able to live for more than 5 minutes :D
As i see this patch going is tweaking it a lil finally bringing survivors back, then once the game is in a better position FINALLY working on survivor gen issue, because honestly people just saying gens should just take longer please just NO, give survivors a new objective to do heck i wouldnt even mind if it took longer to do then gens if its not just sat on a gen for 100 seconds like i loved the idea of the blood gens (though they definitely couldve taken longer to fill and reward all survivors who worked on it and not just the one to complete it) but 100% you cannot nerf gens until you get rid of the 1v3 meta without completely eradicating what remains of the survivor player base.

If implemented correctly, it'll restore some autonomy and hope which is vital to the role. Can't make them chase a carrot on a stick if there's no carrot.

Lol. I hope you enjoy staring at the queue screen. Because if these changes go Live, survivor queues will hit ten minutes within a month. And once you're done sitting in those queues, you'll finally get a match against a cracked, sweat lord Nurse that hasn't seen the Sun in two years, and she won't give two fudges about the anti-tunnel or anti-slug systems… because she doesn't have to. And after you get sent back to the lobby, you'll be treated to another ten minute queue while you wait with baited breath for your next match… against a cracked, sweat lord Blight that hasn't seen the Sun in two years and doesn't give a fudge about the anti-tunnel or anti-slug systems… because he doesn't have to.

Watching all the killers lose their minds has been entertaining to watch.
Killers abuse a system that wasn't meant to be used that way and then complain that survivors should just be punching bags.
If the game was meant to be 1v3 then it would be.
If slugging everyone was meant to be a thing, there would be no hooks.
Killers have no argument here. They only care about winning. They aren't interested in actually gitting gud. They just want to abuse technicalities for the 4k.
The idea that they aren't as good as they think without abuse is driving them mad.
IMO the the killer role is more stressful. There's much more that you have to keep track of. That is not an excuse to use cheap tactics. It should be an incentive to get better.
You can't expect to pick up every killer and be good. It takes practice. It should be a badge of honor not using a slowdown perk. Let alone 4.
It's absurd how the extreme are trying to justify tunneling. They are literally saying it's ok to ruin everyone's game for their own entertainment. The mental gymnastics to attempt to justify that is asinine.
Game balance is not a bad thing.Post edited by BoxGhost on7 -
It's 90% killer buffs and 10% killer nerfs, and that 10% is setting them off, big time.

This content has been removed.

Well if you don't wanna play survivor after all these changes, you're just crazy.
5 -
No way you're not trolling lol. This is literally the most one-sided patch in the history of DBD lol.
-3 -
Please explain to me how everyone knows this is a good patch or not. Do all of you have inside information from behaviour?
Like 90% of the changes are made or break depending on the numbers. The gen speed boost, all the killer "buff" changes regarding unique hooking and of course the survivor & killer perk changes regarding these.
No one knows how good this will be. But i am personally afraid of an abomination of a patch looking at the recent balance patches where the devs also dont listen to feedback and just push it live anyway. Aka clown situation of last patch.
9 -
This already happens all the time, its either Blight or Nurse whenever I play survivor and the occasional Ghoul or Billy.
Literally.
-5 -
Cool. Then you'll be used to it. And you'll just have to wait longer to get into these matches.
-6 -
Can you read? It already happens all the time, people are used to it.
Queue times as survivors will never get bad since killer is literally the most desired role, I don't tunnel nor do I slug so the faster queue times with the extra bonuses after hooking different survivors is gonna fit very nicely into my playstyle however other killers that are so accustomed to having to tunnel to win or heavy slugging are gonna start struggling really hard.
Gotta say bye to those training wheels dawg, it's time for them to come off.
Plus these slug changes besides crawling while recovering isn't problematic in the slightest 90 seconds total slug and even if you down them when they get up again they gotta recover 32s.
Soloq survivors won't be as abused anymore (ofc they will it's the weakest role by far) but this will help a bit.
10 -
Lol. Plenty of killers will drop the game if these changes hit live, because SWF will basically be an instant "I Win" button against all but 2, maybe 3 killers.
I know, because I'm one of them lol. I havent touched the game since the Streetwise and Fog Vial patch, and now I have no intentions of coming back any time soon, if ever. I'm not going to play a pvp game where I'm punished for playing well or capitalizing on opponent's mistakes.
While you're staring at ten minute queues, I'll be skonging.
-9 -
I'm pretty hyped for the killer buffs but I honestly don't feel like the survivor ones will change much, despite the salty tears being shed about them. 90 seconds is more than enough time to slug and hook all 4 people and hard tunneling will still happen, they'll just eat the penalty. End games builds will likely see an uptick too.
I'd be surprised if half of it gets out of the ptb tho, and whatever does will be nerfed.
4 -
What? I'm a killer main if what you say is true my queues will decrease, atm its 5-10 min for me to find a match.
Also the ptb isnt up yet and you're here doomposting like crazy we don't even know the numbers dawg or how certain killers will be affected like sadako with condemn, its BHVR tho..
But I am very certain they'll try their hardest to make it non abusable though like if a survivor kills themselves on hook there won't be any penalties, but idk if their hardest is good enough tho hahahaha.
11 -
Because of 2v8 lol.
Sure they will. BHVR has a long history of giving killers the shaft
-8 -
It's becoming clear that it's less "I'm forced to tunnel" and more "I want to tunnel". Because BHVR are not only giving buffs to incentivise not tunnelling, but removing tunnelling means it can no longer hide any shortcomings from weaker killers and they will likely receive necessary changes as a result
13 -
Oh, please. We've heard this argument so many times. "Hey, guys, we know this survivor buff will absolutely destroy weak killers, but we NEED it to go through because of Nurse. But don't worry, we can balance weaker killers later when we know how it will affect them!"
Except it never happens. Or if it does, the buffs are so meaningless that it's laughable. "Here's half an addon as basekit." Pig jumped from low D tier to high D tier. Trapper is still untouched. Demo has still been power crept up the whazoo. All of the C and D tier killers are still C and D tiers.
-4 -
I wish they were removing tunneling but you know these trash players will still do it, or they'll find some work around, like staggering two tunnels.
0 -
Oh, gosh, you mean that killers will find ways to try to win? The absolute HORROR!
-8 -
That's exactly what's going to happen, it'll be some weird rotation. But at least that'll prevent unskilled killers from trolling out one player while the other three do whatever they want.
I always feel bad for that first player who that happens to. Not fun when it happens to me either, but depends on the map. If it's a boss map with good pallet placement and loop play, I can drag out a two minute chance on someone who can't let go, but if it's a trash map…. yea.
3 -
Listen, we're all trying to panic and/or celebrate here. What you trying to pull being all reasonable?

Three universal basekit buffs versus conditional nerfs that mostly slightly balance out a situation where the killer's already winning.
I never tunnelled, camped or slugged, this is a HUGE buff to me without having to do anything for it.
11 -
I just got out of a match like that. The killer ignored everyone else except two people and used an aura read build to keep locating them before they could heal. I tried to intervene and got slugged. Once those two were dead he slugged me for the 4k.
Also had a match with a Billy who got two hookings the whole match. He was absolutely horrible. Got a 4k from slugging. We all died in end game collapse.
These changes will fix neither of these garbage playstyles. The cheaps will keep cheating. There's no way around it.
0 -
Lol. Are you honestly trying to tell me that you've NEVER hooked a survivor twice in a row to get someone out of the game at 1 or 2 gens left? I don't believe you.
-1 -
Yeah, I haven't. I hardly ever needed to, and I don't go into a panicked 'must-win' mode when the going gets tough. It's a lot more fun that way.
4 -
Lol. Okay. I totally believe you. 👌
-4 -
Yeah I might come back myself, I was looking forward to 2v8 but unfortunately Legion was put in again so I haven't played it.
While the killers who hard tunnel at 5 gens are a minority in my experience, they are enough of an issue to leave a bad taste for me and make the game feel unfun and not worth the stress. These changes will hopefully reduce this dramatically so I am interested in at least giving it go
5 -
"The killers will find ways to circumvent the clear intention of the devs in trying to reduce the constant use of cheap tactics."
There I fixed it.
9 -
Oh, wait. Is ping ponging a "cheap" tactic now? JFC you guys are never happy. They're literally cutting every killer not named Nurse or Blight off at the knees, and you're complaining that it wasn't at the hips.
-1 -
OK man. I'm sure the overall KR is about to become 10%. Totally reasonable and not at all melodramatic take.
12 -
I am a bit scared but mostly excited about these changes.
If you're a non-tunneling, non-slugging killer player, this looks like it is going to be a net buff.

^this guy gets it

I feel the same. I haven’t played since they nerfed fog vials, it was kind of the straw that broke the camels back for me. But then I read the new update and I felt cautiously optimistic. I talked to my friends about it right away (who have quit DBD years ago) and they also were intrigued to come back.
I feel like it’s going to push the game in such a positive way for both roles. Excited to see what it ends up looking like live after testing.

Every game is a confirmed loss for survivors? Average escape rate of 40% says that is not true. What is your escape rate?
My past 30 days has been over 50% escape rate (solo queue only). And it’s not just me escaping and everyone else dying. I’ve had several games recently with 4 escapes or where killer DCd because they were losing so badly.
The game is very winnable as survivor, even without all these upcoming changes. It’s really disappointing to see such a knee-jerk reaction by BHVR to address issues that I really don’t see as prevalent when I play survivor. The average kill rate is right where the devs are targeting, so I don’t understand why killer side deserves a massive nerf.-2 -
Believe him, he plays by survivor rule book.
-4 -
I can name 10 other patches that are more onesided.
4 -
you guys really struggle to read patchnotes I think, if you don't hook the same person twice in a row it's pretty much only basekit buffs for killers, free BBQ chilli/free POP/free haste
survivors get bonuses ONLY if you're hard tunneling it's conditional… it's a net buff if you choose to chase someone else, the only question mark is the 6 hook states thing
6 -
It's funny that this update is such a huge thing that nobody is talking about the new killer and surv that'll come with this patch.
Aside from the changes it's a original chapter, so most people don't give a damn and because most original killers are ass.
Unknow and Huntress are the few they hit a huge lucky shot.8 -
there was a new survivor and killer?
0 -
Oh yh they put out a shorts teaser about it during all the chaos.
0 -
These sound exactly like my trials. Rarely we'll pull through, but you get so used to steamrolls that it's hard to keep giving 100% or expecting anything decent. I'm not expecting much after AFC, but I'm optimistic that this will make the game at least a little more fun if done right.
6 -
Yeah I feel autodefeat immeditely now. Yet according to these killer mains survivor is soooo easy and handholdy. Tell that to my 10-death streaks lol.
5 -
No kidding. I guess it's rare but I had a roughly 22% escape rate in 2v8 this cycle which feels unheard of. Thankfully I got all of the challenges pretty easily, but it would be nice to feel like I'm showing up for trials too.
2 -
I did read the patch notes, but thanks for the condescending reply anyway.
I don’t want to have to pick and choose what survivors I can chase and down. You know what happens sometimes? Sometimes after I hook someone, I happen to stumble upon that same survivor I last hooked working on a gen or healing. With the new rules now I have to ignore that survivor and pretend they don’t exist or else I get punished. I used to be able to chase whoever I wanted, but I guess that’s not allowed anymore because it isn’t “fair”.
4 -
I have a feeling you'll find that "can't" will be a strong word.
-2 -
But you still can so what's the problem exactly ? You just don't get the bonus perks for fresh hooks, and if you do it 3 times and kill that person early in the match others get a repair bonus, i'm ok with that at the moment early 1v3 is a free win
-1 -
They won't be 10 minutes. At best a minute or two. Right now they're currently like what, 10 - 30 seconds? While Killer is still staring at a queue screen for anywhere between 5 - 15 minutes depending. If anything, all the killers who are saying "I'm done" might make the Killer queues finally not stink.
2 -
I don't think this will be the big survivor win a lot of people will think it it.
We don't know the numbers yet... but I will be surprised if all these features make it to live, as unless those unique hook bonuses are exceptionally strong, if nothing changes there will be very big concerns that B tier and down killers are gonna really struggle (more than they already do), especially if not running max slowdown...
If these unique hook bonus numbers aren't strong, then any quirky build is gonna be punished really hard... as a masochist, I do play off meta lower tier killers often, and try to follow a personal rule of no kills until 5 hooks... and my experience of playing like this is you have to accept you can abd will get steam rolled by strong survivor builds, especially on an unfavourable map regularly. Now you don't always face strong Survivor builds, but when you do, you have to hope for a favourable map or you get cooked... I don't mind losing, I lose reasonably frequently to this kind of thing... and even if I win, I often give hatch (and the only times I don't is when Survivors have been particularly egregious with pushing nasty meta in my face)... but the point I'm making is that no matter what, I never want to be in a pushover, and the times I get annoyed as killer is when the game is a blowout.…
One good sabo, one bad chase, one clutch flashy or pallet save, strong toolboxes to break 3 gens early... you just can't try claw back in and try to pose some kind of threat once you're behind by being nice in these scenarios. I have spates where I keep getting rolled and have to take things that are stronger, and in these scenarios trying to handle everything that I need for low tiers often means I've thought to myself "man I just don't have enough perk slots". These changes could help with that, but it looks very rough for lower tier killers if those unique hook bonus aren't crazy good... and if they are crazy good, they will be extremely annoying for Survivor.
I have a feeling survivors clapping for this update will be disappointed when all they face is A tiers and up (if basekit is weak) OR the lower tier killers will have some really strong basekit effects that allows them to forgo some build staples take some really strong combos.... and the top tier killers will obviously be able to do the same (if the basekit effects are strong).
I'm not doom posting... but I imagine we're gonna see a lot of really nasty combos after this change, and there is gonna be a LOT of teething issues with it.

Also love how everyone assume that survivors (bully sqyads especially) aren't going to abuse the hell out of these changes, like they were doing with DS and other anti-tunneling perks. Humans are known for being decent and considerate of others and never exploiting anything just to cause misery, y'know /s
-4 -
How do you think they'll abuse them? Give the killer free kills?
