Who is the balance team now? Why are they hidden like MMR or SWF?
I find this interesting that the old balance team has left and nobody has said who is balancing the game.
Ever since that deleted Walking Dead stream it is interesting that not even the BHVR staff on the stream knew anything or what to do, in otherwise just figure heads.
I have never been so depressed about this game and their direction and know full well that this is going to be a 'We listened to our fan base and revered most of the numerous huge changes but kept the huge change in'
Sucks to even mention I play DBD to anyone right now

I'd rather they be anon due to how communities can get.
Not to say you personally would do anything OP, but we know how heated this community can get, and what some folks will do over the smallest things.
That said, I do hope the team is taking notes.16 -
Considering the amount of ######### a dev, who isn't even a programmer, got over a comment how they didn't like SM, I cannot possibly imagine us knowing the names of the live balance team being for the better.
21 -
Why do you want to know the names of employees? What difference does that make apart from being able to directly attack them?
11 -
This is a weird question. Why do you need to know their identities? If youre feeling depressed then step away from the game for a bit
7 -
Just to confirm, the people we've got working on the Game Design section have been there for a very long time, most over 4 years, some as much as 8. Some people have moved to other projects but the majority is still in situ.
16 -
Gee I wonder why, not like there's examples of more public-facing devs attaching their names to statements and changes getting immense amount of trash thrown their way as well as genuine harassment for reasons like saying they like don't like Skull Merchant or saying something that at worst just sounds a little out of touch, right?
Even just Almo back in the day as one example got a lot of trash thrown his way, and even me myself caught several threads that went way beyond "constructive criticism" pop up that absolutely 100% deserved to be deleted + OP banned quickly afterwards.

Do you know if the balance team consists of mainly killer mains or survivor mains. Imo it should be an even split.
-10 -
Almo kinda deserve some of that though.
- He told someone in his stream asking for quality of life changes for color blind people to stop asking him about it, as if it didnt matter and wasnt a priority. This create a huge backslash and got big attention from a social media. Shortly after Almo was featured less and less in their live streams….gee I wonder why.
- Almo plays the game poorly, he would always be camping with iri huntress on the hooked survivor. Gee look at that a dev doing the negative toxic thing that survivors hate and now we are here with a patch that is trying to kill slugging/tunneling/camping. Want another example?? Sure he would complain about not being able to hit skill checks especially with old huntress lullaby on Doctor, theres even a clip of it, so he went out of his way to get it nerfed.
He had a big ego and when someone has a big ego while they are bad at the game and are in charge of game balance….nothing good will come from that.
4 -
Except the moment he leaves, the balance team started working on the patch that will do everything that Almo warned about.
-6 -
I didnt read his good bye message, because he was just one of the worse devs I have seen in a long time. But I bet if I took the time to read it I could make counterpoints and dismantle it. Also there is no correlation that him leaving is responsible for them releasing this garbage patch now.

I'm in game design rn in college. I want to work on the balance team in some years on DBD.
-5 -
@Mandy I didn't say the 'Game Design' section, I referred to the balance team.
I don't need to tell you that your balance team's decisions have been awful and what is even more worryingly clear is the lack of foresight.
It is very obvious what is needed to be done asap with this game but I can predict this time next year this game will have crumbled. Please save your game before then, you need to listen to key people in your community and not by posting surveys with many many of those loaded questions.
Good luck and good night

There's actually not a "balance team" it's not a role in game design, the developers who work on Live design are game designers, and have been with us for many years.
21 -
In my opinion your company needs to employ staff back into your balance team, handing that task over to game designers will cause further examples like the last PTB as their tasks will be numerous. It would save time in the long run for development of this game. I will be honest that you no longer have a balance team.
-9 -
Asking for a "balance team" is essentially like asking a restaurant to have a dedicated team just to improve the menu. Even if they had such a team, that small group cannot possibly represent the thousands of daily consumers.
8 -
The issue is that they dont have a team AND that they dont playtest anything by knowledgeable players. And get easily scared by killer bias.
-5 -
Please re-read my comment, I am not asking for a balance team rather that that area be reinstated.
Your analogy is pretty poor, I could argue you are talking about the cosmetics team who have been amazing in dealing with the thousands of daily consumers. Why are people so negative in these forums?-8 -
What do you mean by reinstated?? And how could you argue Im talking about the cosmetics team when there is literally no mention of such and you clearly understand what Im referring to.
Also disagreeing with you =/= negativity.

I feel like they should have someone responsible for trying to maintain the game balance tho. Although, I wouldn't say there should be a full team. Just someone who actively coordinates playtests and reaches out to content creators/fog whisperers and potentially comp players. That way the game designers don't have to work this out themselves and can just work off what the 'balance manager' or whatever says. Just seems like a more efficient way to handle balance on a live service game.
-5 -
Why have a singular person when they literally have an entire team of people? Its not like this one person would be able to speed up the process of balance (in fact it would probably just slow it down) because they would still only be able to fit so much in 1 patch.
With all that being said, the game designers are your balance team. They just have a different name.
7 -
You may be right, I studied game design tho and I learned there was always a Research and Development role in big game companies. What I pitched is just a more focused version of that.
-3 -
We definitely don't want comp players to be in the area of decision making, definitely no.
Their matches are boring, repetetive and sad.
8 -
I agree with that, I said that because I lived in english class and I always use lists of 3.
-1 -
I do not envy your job.
1 -
It's always been a game designer position - you have Live Designers, who are responsible for all live content (so everything in the game that gets changed), and then perk designers, then new content designers (so new killers for example).
6 -
That's true, and that's what User Research does, they run playtests and surveys with the players who are signed up here:
Behaviour Interactive Playtesting
User Researchers are not game designers however, they are experienced in the field of user research and normally data analysis also.
5 -
oh thats basically what I pitched. thanks for the insight.

they want someone to blame and collectively shout at. Almo was that person before and now they need a new name to shout into the void.
3 -
Perk designers have been slacking off lately, most newer perks are reduced for just Adepts and nothing more. :(

Live Designers, who are responsible for all live content (so everything in the game that gets changed)
perk designers
new content designers (so new killers for example)
—Reference details above———————————————————————————————————From my interprettation of this and from the last huge PTB failure, it appears there are many cooks but no leaders in the actual balance of the game.
Currently this game like to introduce broken perks/combos to keep things fresh/exciting for the player base.
What is currently happening is that the core mechanic of camping and slugging is effective and the PTB was simply to punish killers to fix this. In the past whenever killers are punished for this with powerful DS, Off the record, basekit BT, etc it is then used offensively by the other side and not just defensively.
For this punishing of killers the other side need to be punished such as the obvious far too quick generators objective.
We are all heading towards, tunnelling 1 survivor out then 2nd survivor on a hook at end game which mathamatically is a balanced but unfun game for most players.
Killers when punished to acting like a bot in down, hook, down hook with no slugging/camping/tunnelling will lead to killer mains leaving, survivor mains playing killer then returning or leaving to evenutally have killers replaced with bots which will last for a few months before they become too predictable and survivor mains leaving.
Previously we knew these Balance team leaders, now imo we urgently need this role before all this happened. Good luck to them as if they are going off the pool average of players opinions and surveys they will not be heading in the right direction needing to be strong, fair, logical and game experienced.
