My fear with the coming Meta shift

Hello everyone,

It is kinda impossible to see all the posts about the anti Slug and Anti Tunnel coming to DbD soon.
I was thinking about perks which could be used and had following question poping up in my head.

What if the Killer is hard tunneling and brings a complete Late Game Build?
Yes the Survivors can repair the Gens with all the Buffs for the Game after someone got tunneld out but what if the Killer exactly wants them to finish the Gens?

I think about something like this.
No ed
NWO

BW and the Kaneki Perk which blocks all Pallets.

Hyper Tunneling would still be viable with a build like this.

Tunneling is still viable even without a Lategame Build since turning the game into a 3v1 is still better than having it a 4v1. But since you would need to replace the Regression-Perks anyway, they could indeed be Lategame Perks or Chase Perks. Or Anti-Healing.

So true they need to look at those perks, or at least 30s endurance should stay with elusive, because rn in ptb it's still those miserable 10s endurance that won't even let you reach exit gates in time

Nah, 10 seconds is fine in Endgame. 30 seconds would mean that the Killer can hook the Survivor basically anywhere and they would get out of an open Exit Gate. 10 seconds is what we have now and if the Survivors are smart, it helps to escape and if not, at least one Survivor dies.

But 30 seconds would completely remove the need to play smart in Endgame on the Survivor Side.

Well it should be at least 20s, 10s is not much I remember one match where killer didn't even hooked me that far from a gate yet I still didn't reach them I even had SB after a hook, so 20s would be great for such a purpose

I mean 10 seconds is fine. And if you're being killed at zero Jen's my opinion is all protection should be off. A survivor staying behind to unhook. You should not guarantee both of you escaping it's supposed to be a risk for a reason. There's plenty of games. I've seen a killer turn. A one kill into a three kill at endgame because of greedy survivors. This is how it should be with 20 or 30 seconds. They might as well not even try to chase you

endgame builds are a gimmick. we all know this. I doubt it will change much from what it is right now.

    It is a possibility.

Since some regression perks people used the most are worse now, some might transition to purely endgame builds. The Singualrity + Haywire one comes to mind.

I think that chase perks are more likely to become more used.

Brutal Strength, Fire Up, Superior Anatomy, Enduring, The new Deerstalker, ect.

Unless I'm misunderstanding the question, doesn't this already happen now? I've gone against plenty of endgame builds over the years in survivor games. Nothing wrong with them.

There are Endgame Builds already, I just dont think many people play them, because they are kinda boring. You basically make it harder for yourself just for a big push in the end and I guess people want a more balanced experience during the whole game.

However, OPs point is that if someone wants to tunnel, they would rather use Endgame Builds, since they will face a penalty for tunneling and their Regression Perks are useless. And while the penalty for tunneling is not strong enough to completely discourage it, the second point is indeed valid and Regression Perks for people who tunnel might be replaced by Endgame Perks (or Chase Perks).

I mean to be fair, Killers might just adjust their build to tunnel.

Completely blocking regression doesn't do much when the Killer will just end up bringing 4 Chase perks instead now. That way, they not only ignore one of the punishments they would get, they also end chases quicker leading to more pressure on the survivor side. Even the gen speed bonus would get diminished from this, because quicker chases means less time to be able to spend on gens, since you will get pushed off of them quicker and more rotation needs to happen to keep survivors off of hooks. After all, hooking and downing survivors is still the best form of stopping gen progress, the changes that are coming won't change that.

I don't think most Killer mains realized this yet though, they are still in panic mode when looking at the Threads.

Idk what about meta will change just like now gen deffence with regression and endgame builds with some info perks because most chase build arent that good especialy now when you cant tunnel someone out, pure chase build lack the ability to buy you time even when your game doesnt look good for you and you struggle a little. For killers the gab between a-tier and b-tier will be just way bigger than its now so I dont believe this patch will bring more weaker killers like bubbas, wraith or chuckys.

I could see folks bringing more end games builds.

I think what we are more likely to see is an increase in slugging. Killer comes across someone, not sure if they were the last party hooked, so they slug and leave them down instead. Sure they can get up after 90s, but thats 90s for the killer to find someone else to hook instead

I already do exactly this with springtrap lol. who needs gen regression? you got 5 whole generators to kill 1 guy for that precious 1v3 then you get 4 perks to toy with the remaining 3.

since these perks are failsafes, they give me the room to relax and take it easy if I'm dominating too much.
