They're turning 1v4 into 2v8
I suspect 2v8 is so popular that the goal is to make 1v4 replicate that experience. They've just increased the pallet density on pretty much every map. They nerfed strategic play styles. They gave both sides enough base kit to constitute a "class" in 2v8.
The more frustrating, higher skill curve stuff is just not going to be as popular as the mindless party game. That they have to juggle perk incentives to sell new killers/survivors and also the comp/creator scenes are the issue.
The average person doesn't want to be a 1v1 comp sweat. They don't want to spend hundreds of hours to get half decent. They aren't toxic and they aren't critical of Behavior. They probably buy a lot of skins too.

If that's the goal, why not just announce that 2v8 is going to become the new flagship mode?
I feel like there's some merit to this idea tho, but its probably more like 2v8 was the testing ground for these new changes not the origin.

They're still heavily tweaking 2v8 and integrating killers and maps into it. A lot of their IP is not compatible with it yet.

true but what I meant tho was like a pre-emptive announcement, I feel like that would harbour a ton of use for BHVR in both generating hype and getting feedback on what the players would actually want for that mode. But idk maybe I'm just giving them too much grace.

August 16th - September 9th (3 weeks)

It makes sense if 2v8 is more popular than 1v4.

Increased pallet density?? You gotta be kidding me. There are already waaaaay to many pallets. They need to be reduced.

I mean remove everything 2v8 related to your post and your probably right on the money. The game makes more money and successful having it be accessible and lowering the skill ceiling. Most people in the game like the party aspect of it. Like the horror and the chase vibes. They buy skins and killers and don't complain nearly as much. I have 6 friends that play dbd and non are like me I'm not very good at the game but I really enjoy the game love it. Probably my favorite game in a long long time the thing I talk to them about they don't care. Sad but true

Is it more popular, or are there more people playing it because of the bonus bloodpoints? I have a feeling that any role that also had 5x bonus would seem pretty popular.

Though I want some changes, I do agree some of the current ideas--specifically basekit aura read on both sides--are becoming too much like 2v8. And I hate 2v8. It's all chaos and no strategy. There are no tense moments, no stealth, no nuance. It's just action. I barely play it as is, and when I do, it's for point farming.

I personally play it for the bloodpoints. I would not go near it without the bonus. Especially since they added Legion and Oni.

more like 2v8 is a better testing ground for experimental features.
