Chad Flashlight Update
As you all know, flashlights used to be a very cool item with unique interactions with killers, like the nurse and the wraith, where you would be able to burn them to prevent them from blinking or causing them to stun. Although very unique, it is understandable that it got removed, due to the strong counterplay against specific certain killers (Even though hag's might be arguably worse now since they can always be removed now), this change has decreased the amount of depth there is to the game, and therefore also the amount of fun, and unique interactions.
That's why I've decided to add back some more depth into the game and adding more unique ways of skill-expression and teamplay through the following change:
Shining the flashlights on scratchmarks removes the scratchmarks.
This change allows for unique and special plays, as well as teamplays where you can attempt to help tunneled survivors in chase.
Since the fashlight as a gameplay mechanic is meant for the player to chase a survivor that's being chased so you can save them, this new change completely revamps this chasing role, by allowing the chasing survivor to be helpful even during the chase, instead of having to exclusively stalk around idling and doing nothing more than waiting for the other survivor to get downed, to truly blow life into the flashlight role!
Throwing a flashbang will also remove scratchmarks in an 12 meter radius, allowing for more dynamic play and further increasing the depth of the items.
I believe game-depth and possibilities is what truly blows life into the longevity of a game, and making people feel like they haven't tried anything out yet or maximized their opportunities is what keeps people playing. With this change, I truly believe we've compensated fairly for the previous removal of depth of the flashlight, and allowed a new era of great and engaging clips of the community creating high intensity moments where this skillful mechanic ended up saving them in clever ways ❤️

stop buffing survivors

This aint about buffing anyone. It's about making the game more fun. Killers can get buffed in their own ways

translation: I don't want flashlights and grenades to remove scratchmarks that don't work well in the game anyway.

And there are many people who would love for it to

It is an interesting idea that gives Champion of Light and Inner Focus a bit more utility.
Does have a bit of a weird trade off though where you have to somehow find a scenario where you can erase the scratch marks without the killer seeing the flashlight beam doing it... the timing seems so tight that the only way I could imagine it working halfway reliably at all is with maximum duration effects on a pallet blind and hoping your teammate can break LoS. Then ofc there are blood pools that still won't allow the Survivor to get away...
An alternative option tahts a little.more universal mechanic, it could be made part of the blind effects list, where being unable to see scratch marks lasts for 5s after being blinded or something. Given killers can listen through their headphones almost every time for footsteps or injury noises during the blind splash, this will rarely save the flashlighter themselves. For flashlight saves, this won't prevent blood pools, so it gives them a slightly better niche reason to exist.
Combined my Lightborn proposal to make it so the killer can still be "blinded" (so can proc blind perks) but is immune to the blind splash, blind stun while carrying and blind lunge disable (and ofc new blind scratch mark removal), that would be an interesting set of mechanics to make flashlights a little more viable.
Cool to think about.

Scratchmarks disappearing when being shined upon with a flashlight definitely isn't a free value mechanic. I think it's a nice tradeoff, especially if you're using it yourself in a chase. You can use it to mind-game but if you fail you'll also have lost distance on the killer. Where as if your "supporting" friend uses it while you're in chase, the options become more vast, with ofc the downside that the other survivor has to get somewhat close to the killer too, also risking being hit or out of position.
It's definitely very interactive0
