Cheating or Original Gameplay?
So I've recently started playing Dead by Daylight and have been enjoying every minute of it, the reason I started playing is because of YouTuber, John Wolfe.
Well, I started watching content by YouTuber, SpookyLoopz, because he was in a couple video's on John Wolfe's channel. I've been watching a mix of older and newer content by SpookyLoopz and noticed something odd that I haven't experienced myself and I'm wondering if this was something that used to be part of the game in 2023, or if the content creator was cheating: In some of his videos as killer, you can hear the hatch sound before the hatch has been opened.
One of the video's I'm referencing is
Not accusing or alleging anything, I'm just wondering if killers could hear the hatch before it opens, when there's multiple survivors alive?
Thank you.

If I recall correctly, I do believe there was a period of time back in the day where the hatch would be physically on the map collision and all but just invisible until it was supposed to open. It could also be a bug as those happen a lot in dbd cause the code sucks, especially regarding hatch.

I'm not watching 2 hours of video now, but @angrychuck is correct if you mean that. At least since 2021 where I started playing it was possible for I believe 1-2 year that you can find the hatch by running over it, at I believe 2 gens it spawned in physically but invisible, so if you random ran over it and reconized it you had the advantage of knowing the position of it.
This happend mostly around shack, sometimes also randomly xD

I'm wondering specifically if the killer could hear the hatch when it's not open. I know about the old issue where the slight increase in elevation could tell you where the hatch was located, but I'm wondering if killers could hear it when it's closed.
I'll have to watch the video again and get timestamps to show what I mean. I'll follow up soon.0 -
No, you can't. You never could. In some really old versions you could see it (and even older, you could leave in it after a few gens). But there's also a million different bugs every patch so it's not impossible for something like that to have happened. Wouldn't be a useful cheat anyways.

I've re-watched the video. Are you talking about stuff like at 6:11 (https://youtu.be/LYfbkb_TezA?t=371)? That's the sound of a nearby Boon created by a Survivor. There's also times you'll hear a faint whispering in a few of his games from the perk Whispers (makes sound/high lights the perk when you're within a set range of a Survivor).

There's a chance he was using something along the lines of Streamloots where viewers on people's stream can send sounds to them. I recall hatch and random skill check sound was popular so if it was gameplay of a stream it could also be that.
