How to Make DBD Fun! (NEW GAME MODE IDEA)
Intro
I think we really really need a DBD classic mode. This mode would be like the old DBD, but polished up. It would be a more simple and nostalgic version of DBD, more beginner friendly, more immersive, and for many, more fun.
What it is
Old DBD where we have the old graphics, old maps, old lighting and old movements, old killers, and old perks. For immersion reasons I'd say old survivors too, but since they're just skins maybe that's not a hill I'd die on. I'm thinking the patch 2.7.0 (I mean chapter 5) would be the best version of DBD to base it on, but this is debatable.
A DBD classic doesn't have to just be an untouched/unupated DBD, sure it would have the old killers, but the newest versions of them. It would only have the old perks, but the best versions of them. It would be the old maps with the old lighting, as I said, but I wouldn't complain if they had some of the needed balancing updates.
Why We Need it
I think the reason DBD is becoming so survivor sided is because there are 41 killers to learn and over 300 perks with a thousand different conditions. That's not a fun video game, that's homework. Not to mention I'm gonna be honest, the killers seem uninspired and bloated now. I don't wanna go against a killer that's just recycled powers from earlier killers, and don't feel immersive. I understand immersion isn't everyone's priority, but it should be one of the dev's priorities. I was complaining about Trickster and Skull Merchant, now we have Kaneki, Houndmaster, and Spring Trap. I get FNAF is horror but it feels like popularized kid's horror, ya know? Popular doesn't mean good, but I get it does mean successful and I see why BHVR added it. Plus I think we need more straight forward perks even if they're strong, like old iron will, which should have been restored already. Not to mention the many maps and many different versions of them you also have to learn.
Side Note
Different game modes could be available at all times too. Beginners and old players/players who missed old DBD get DBD classic, everyone else gets the new DBD with many features and killers, bored of one? Switch to the other. Everyone wins.
Edit: typo fix

ah yes... 2.7.0... the introduction of Ghost Face- I mean the Endgame Collapse.
I wouldnt mind it, but I feel like theres a lot of things at this point that are still fairly modern. I would say 1.9.3 or 2.0.0 would be better picks since theres a lot of things from those patches that simply arent in the game anymore.

I wouldn't mind if they did some mixing and matching as well as like I said, balancing. Just trying to start the conversation, but the old maps with old lighting, and older killers IMO would be nonnegotiable. Thanks for sharing ur thoughts ^^

Thats why Im suggesting those older patches, for the most part its their very first itterations with the exception of Wraith and Doctor who had already received their "Cube" by then.

Do we both mean that ghostface with 30 seconds cooldown on power yeah if anything from this patch no ghostface indeed.
0 -
Im saying that because this was the patch they accidently released the dev build lol

All I miss from old dbd was its atmosphere and looks thich fog, nice grass not that one we got now seems like ground is balding and loosing grass etc. but old mechanics like no antitunnel or palett vacuums, old ds,dead hard, og ruin and og nurse I personaly dont miss these things they were busted fun maybe but just for one side and other was forced to suffer them.

Yeah there were A LOT of busted things back then, but you cant really do a classic dbd without em.

oh i remember when ghostface originally dropped he was really bad

I guess the joke wasnt very clear, but Ghost Face wasnt released in this patch. Its just they accidently released the dev build which had a prototype version of him lol
But yeah I will always say PTB Ghost Face was the worst killer in the game. Extremely sensitive reveal which you only needed to look at him for .5 second anywhere on your screen. He made a mapwide audio cue when entering and exiting stealth, cooldown was 30 seconds, stalk built up slower, marked only lasted 20 seconds, Undetectable wasnt a thing so his aura could still be revealed, and finally he had a sort of "lullaby" which sounded like distorted sirens. (hot take, they should bring it back but reduce the range and how loud it is)

you could also hear his cape fluttering in the wind from a good distance so he couldn't sneak up on people either

You can actually still hear this!

Or they could do a historical approach like Overwatch did with their classic mode.
Started at version 1.0, and then went through the most beloved patches.0 -
Absolutely not lol
-20 second cooldown (yes cooldown, exhaustion wasnt a thing yet) Sprint Burst
-True facecamping
-Perma sabo hooks
-Perma sabo traps (and also taking 3 business days to set down only to be screwed over by several perks and items)
-We'll Make It stacking with it self and applying to personal healing as well. Pair it up with Botany and Self Care and you were able to heal yourself before the killer had time to finish the blade wipe animation
-60 second gens and no way to slow them down. There were no gen regression perks at the time, unless you count Unnerving Presence which only made skill checks a measly 15% smaller. Gen kicking also wasnt in the game yet.
-Traps under hooks
-True infinites due to no entity blockers or bloodlust
-Insta gen complete with BNP
-Insta heals
-Insta blinds
And thats all I can think of at the moment. Now you might say "oh well just remove all of these!"
But at that point, its not dbd classic is it?

I didn't say that they needed to make the 1.0 patch a true 1:1, did I?
Of course a classic mode could be a true 1:1, but hopefully, some thoughts and QoL would need to be put in for it to be a better experience.0 -
The thing is there is so much that would need to be changed to make it a more enjoyable experience and at that point it aint even dbd classic
The whole reason why I suggested 1.9.3 or 2.0.0 is because those are the closest patches that have the essence of old dbd while still being somewhat balanced.
