trying to win as survivor is miserable
nobody has any interest in doing gens so the only remotely viable pathway to victory is to spend the entire game sat on them to the detriment of doing anything vaguely interesting
if you actually get to get chased and run the killer then its a guaranteed loss because nobody on your team will be doing gens whilst you run

Funnily enough, I actually started playing DBD on my new gaming laptop instead of PS5… and I hit a revelation... I now understand why people say gens are boring...
Good God, skillchecks are so damned easy on PC, I feel like a kid who grew up on gruel and tried chocolate for the first time at the age of 21. It's mind blowing... you literally just click when the line goes over the crit bar... there's no need to time anything at all, you just follow it with your eyes and click... they are so trivial it is embarrassing xD
On console skillchecks are actually hard... you've gotta stay alert and really time it right to hit a great, and the dreaded 4 o'clock skillcheck is brutal. I've had so many close calls and near misses on those skillchecks, I've genuinely breathed sighs of relief when I've clutched an important check... especially when using something like Fast Track or Specialist. BNPs? Butt clench moment every time. Sometimes even Decisive Strike an be an arse.
You put Huntress Lullaby on any of that, good sodding luck...
If people wouldn't get so mad about it, I'd genuinely suggest putting the input lag on consoles as standard for PC, cause I had to stop playing on laptop for fear it would mess me up when I go back to console xD

I wish I could share a similar story… but my notebook is a potato… game runs so bad on it…

I found it too hard to switch, honestly.

I will literally nod off on gens if I'm tired enough. I don't mind doing them though.

that is the exact reason i gave up being a survivor main. it has nothing to do with being tunneled or being slugged.
The reason is because at its core, survivor gameplay is boring. 1 person looping the killer? 3 others should be sitting on gens doing diddly squat. Generally boring concept.
Trying to win in solo matches is difficult, again not because of tunneling or slugging but because no one does gens. Even now when i play survivor i go in with full gen build because i know if i dont do gens then they just dont get done at all. I dont complain too much because the objective of survivor is do gens and escape so i know what im signing up for when i play that role which is why i avoid survivor these days.
The only time people want to do gens is when they are on death hook and they dont want to die, then its "ok dont tunnel me, let me sit on a gen" its a very frustrating role lol

Today when i played survivor i had multiple people doing nothing hiding etc
switch to killer and had teams every game in a row with gens being slammed at lightning speed multiple flashlight saves pallet saves tons of body blocks were was all that in my survivor matches lol.0 -
Lol this often happens to me too. I almost never run into the same kind of survivor teams that refuse to do gens when I’m playing killer, but when I play survivor it happens all too often.

i noticed this too, i came to the conclusion that its because as killer my actions are my own win or loss its on me. as my skill increased im assuming my mmr increased and i started getting swf teams that smash gens like no tommorow.
But survivor im reiiant on team effort so as my skill increased my mmr hasnt due to other players actions like going next or avoiding gens.
The result is that im teamed with equal low mmr players that face similar issues. killer matches = sweat fest. survivor matches = pretty easy going "whatever" sort of matches. very different experience.

I just had to come off for the night as killer so stressful the toxicty and think i had two subtle cheaters as well its doing my head in. I'm trying to play normal but the time to go round hooking people just doesn't exist against these teams even if you have a really short chase by the time you move away 2 or 3 gens are just gone they come off hook almost instantly healed in 2 seconds as if you were never even there.
Solo is always a mixed bag you can get some good people but some days it just throws you the worst ones an today holly molly it was some of the utter worst and then you switch to killer for a change and it's full on sweet with every second chance in the book.
I just wanna play a fair game were it feels like it could go either way but it feels like games are decided in the lobby these days.-2 -
I don't play survivor anymore (outside of specific quests) but i can tell you, it never used to be this bad a few years ago. You always had useless team mates but they were few and far between. I feel like maybe they're not retaining enough new players to keep them all in the same SBMM bracket while they learn, and they now get thrown in with the general playerbase. I dunno. You always hear about "the weak link," because it's just the standard these days that solo teams will have at least one survivor with low hours. They're usually the ones I'll let live when I get them in my games because it's not their fault the matchmaking system failed them.

It really depends for me. Matchmaking is the element that affects the most, bar none. Then there's the types of Survivors I'm matched with, which is more of a luck thing than anything else. And then there's camping/tunneling/slugging. More often than not, the first two fail in some way and then we're too handicapped to overcome the third.
The first 100 hours is usually not a bad time, so I never know if it's just me waxing nostalgic or not, but that's my experience too. The game wasn't perfect years ago (still very frustrating), but I don't remember it feeling remotely this bad around 2019-2021. Back then a lot of Survivor complaints felt flippant and a lot less valid than they do now.

Hehehehe, I felt that... which way were you switching I wonder?
I was playing 2v8, and I legit could not hit skillchecks all game... I had to play healer a while and use the heal boost to hopefully avoid getting any while I figured it out xD
I eventually learned to quell my skillcheck instinct and started timing off sight, and I got the hang of it... and man, it was so easy. The only time I had trouble was when I wasn't quite ready for it and I went back to autopilot again xD
Indeed xD
It's strange, the console input lag makes skillschecks surprisingly engaging... I ain't kidding about the 4 o'clock skillchecks...
I remember one time I got 4 of them in a row Vs. Doctor with Huntress Lullaby... I lost 60% gen progress in 12 seconds 😩 😩 😩
I definitely ain't bored on gens... I'd say I'm much more:
In fact, advice I give to PC players... if you see Huntress Lullaby, do try and cleanse it. That perk is rough for your console brothers and sisters 🥴

I'm gonna be honest. I'm that guy that if the trial is already ROUGH and I see Lullaby is in play, I'm like "alright I'll just do other stuff instead of gens". 😵

Yes, it basically takes a fully coordinated SWF to defeat any killer where A) the player isn't completely braindead, and B) the killer isn't F-tier like SM.
Because the game is killer-sided right now, but they're supposedly working on it, lol

Yeah the input lag on console is really bad, I wish they'd fix it. I'm on an Oled TV and it's the only game I play with like that much input lag recently, wild.

Ok, whatever. Keep pretending that survivors never, ever win. I play solo queue and as long as I have teammates who are semi-competent, we can win on a regular basis.
-2 -
Survivors would win more if theyre werent so many dc's on first down at 5 gens which is happening alot rn

It was pretty easy to win or have a really good, close game as survivor whilst 2v8 was up. Team mates pretty much always seemed to have a good grasp on what to do and when. Now 2v8 is over though, it's just a mess of dc'ing on first down, nobody doing gens and total and utter frustration.
It's actually pushing me into the camp of wanting 2v8 up permanently even though I barely touch it. It does seem to attract all the survivors that ruin 1v4 matches for the other 4 players.
On the skill check on console thing, is that input delay not solvable by changing the mode of the TV? I used to have when I switched to a better TV but eventually changed it to gamer mode or something like that and it was instant. Took me a while to get used to it as I was still going too early all the time because if being so used to compensating for the delay!
