Is Hyperfocus alone viable?
Most of the time i see it with Stakeout, even when the player is experienced. You can hit some without it of course, but is it really worth it compared to other gen perks?
Im just asking bc i rarely see some player with it (full kitted loadout so they probably have every perk) and all of them are on Epic.

If you're very good at skill checks, then yeah sure.

It is, especially when paired with a Toolbox, but Hyperfocus is made SO much stronger by Stake Out (or other synergistic perks) that basically no one who has access to those other perks ever runs it on its own. Those who do run it on its own are often cheaters, who use it as a cover for volatile generator speeds.

I run it without Stake Out sometimes and as long as you're good at skill checks, yes you can get good value.

i run it without stakeout when im on point but i’ll never start games without it. Some days i just never miss greats and others i miss almost all of them lol.

Scott Jund or Otz or someone said, in a recent video, that it's not really viable alone. Too hard to hit the skillchecks consistently.
I knew I couldn't hit them, but it's nice to know that even top-level players can't do it, for the most part.

Only if you're insane at hitting skillchecks. I run it alone sometimes just for the sake of practicing and gettibg rewarded. Though great skill check bonuses are bugged rn and sometimes don't give a bonus to gen progression.

Theoretically, yes.
Though I do run it alone sometimes because it makes generators more interesting, regardless of how good I actually am at hitting the Hyperfocus skill checks.
It is possible that some players are running Hyperfocus with a skill check cheat, though. Epic players are immediately more suspicious to me too. It could be nothing nefarious, though.

Don’t listen to people who say this perk is bad just because it’s “too hard” or that “you won’t be consistent.” That mindset is exactly why DbD has reached a point where perks are only seen as strong if their value is basically handed to you. If you actually take the time to get good with it, this perk can save you a huge amount of time on every generator.
The only real downsides are the RNG factor of getting Hyperfocus started at the beginning of a gen, and the fact that it really shines when you’re uninterrupted. That means it works best either in a SWF or at MMR levels where survivors aren’t going down 20 seconds into a chase.

No offense but otz and scott are not top-level players. Ask the comp survivors for advice not people who while they play a lot are nowhere near the level of the likes of idk knightlight, xeno or the like.

It's not really a 'skill issue'. If you have the reflexes you can do it, if not then you can't.
I believe most of the comp community is in their teens / 20s which is when a person's reflexes are still incredibly sharp. They start to drift after that. I know Hens has joked about being too old for comp, and he's in his mid 30s I believe.

Also requires you to be running high FPS.

More than just "very good". You need superhuman abilities to make it work as well as you would with SO, really.

I mean, feel free to ask them and come back when you have something?
