Is this a pro tunneling update?
so killers can see hook states so now they know who to tartget. off the record gets nerfed…. can even tunnel a slug to get them to abandon. another speed killer added to the roster to help hook returning to tunnel.
what exactly is this update supposed to be saying?

I don't think the visible hook states actually matters here, if you're tunnelling someone you already know who you're targeting, it's the person that just got off the hook.
The nerf to OTR is the more relevant thing here, and it definitely isn't a good idea. Hoping for a hotfix reversion of some kind on that front.

Yeah, this patch started out as a big benefit to survivors, but launched as "we were joking, we made killers better again".

not always, if i leave the hook area then see 2 survivors both injured both same skin but 1 is on death hook and the other hasnt been hooked at all. then it can help determine which one to target. might not be hard tunneling straight off the hook but it can help to tunnel out 1 player fast

As in, the injured survivor is on death hook but wasn't recently unhooked?
That's just flat out not tunnelling, it's light target prioritisation. Nothing wrong with that.

no i mean recently unhooked, ran away from the hook to heal, killer follows scratch marks and find 2 injured survivors healing. as killer i now know which one to chase and which one to ignore. might not be hard tunneling instantly off the hook, maybe 3 seconds off the hook? pretty much tunneling a player out fast while ignoring all other players which i thought was the issue people were complaining about. its all good to me, i hard tunnel at 5 gens every time so this makes it easier for me but even i can see this is a pro tunneling update that makes tunneling easier

Oh, I see.
Nah, I still disagree. The only detail that actually matters in that scenario is them having the same skin- if they're different in any way you already knew who to prioritise anyway. I'll grant it technically does make tunnelling slightly easier (though not much, you still have to pick one and wait for the chase indicator to fade on the other), but only in a very hyper specific niche scenario.
I just don't see it making an appreciable difference overall.

Unless both survivors are the same survivor wearing the same cosmetics this isn't really an issue. Showing hookstates to the killer doesn't really matter to killers who don't care about tunneling. It purely benefits killers who are trying to spread their hooks out.
This is the same reason why when I play survivor I always switch if someone picks the same survivor as me. It does nothing to confuse tunneling killers since tunneling killers don't care, it only confuses killers who are trying not to tunnel.

true different skin then ye it wouldnt make a difference but there are so many people out there especially in swf that go same sailer seagull steve skin. loads of times i have had multiple sables with minor differences which can be hard to spot in the heat of the chase. doesnt help much, but it does give an indicator if im chasing the wrong one before i commit fully and lose the original target. if the hud shows im chasing the wrong one i leave them and go for the other one which is still injured so shouldnt be hard to find/hear. my point is that an update that was supposed to be anti tunnel/anti slug has turned into a pro tunnel update, even if the changes only help a little.
same with the slugging abandon option, i dont even even need to hook them, i can just down them repeatedly and try get survivors to abandon. when they turn into a bot, hook them and go after the real threats. lets face is bots a useless so any situation that turns players to bots will benefit the killer.

it remains to be seen, but im willing to bet it will help me know who to target. i will need to test it out more but im almost certain in some situations (not all) it can benefit a tunneler which is the opposite to what this update was supposed to be about.

Pretty sure the clear message is if you don't like the changes, then threatening to leave, blowing up the forums, and review bombing the game are the only effective ways to get the devs to listen to you.
Because asking politely "hey, can this go next mechanic not punish people for being tunneled" or "maybe we shouldn't nerf OTR until the other anti tunnel features land", while reasonable feedback, are completely ignored.

While not the correct nerf for current OTR it definitely needed a nerf. Mainly talking about its post unhook body block potential with DS and DH for quad health state off hook.

i said it before, devs wont listen or care if people complain because lets face it people will complain about everything and anything. if its not fun then dont play. its a company like any other, if people continue to play while not enjoying it then why would they change it? this has been the pattern with survivor behaviour for years, complain about literally everything but continue to play the game and say its a miserable experience.
personally, i used to be survivor main, then killer main, now im more 50 50 maybe slightly more survivor sided the past couple months. i find fun in both roles, and if i dont then i simply dont play that role. if both roles became unfun i would simply quit the game and keep an eye out for any improvements that might bring back me back at a later point. But some people are so blindly loyal and dedicated to this game that they will endure months or years of horrific gameplay hoping their polite requests will be fulfilled.

The update basically says: don’t play solo-queue Survivor; grab the new DLC and a couple of skins, then queue as Killer.
And, from a sales perspective, that playbook works every time.3 -
hey im playing solo survivor fine. hatch offering helps big time. last match i escaped and 2 others waited by the gates and the 4th survivor was being chased by the killer, they went to the shack and luckily the 2 at the gate left which meant the 4th at the shack could get out through hatch.

I have no idea, either they're completely clueless or they're deliberately trying to make all survivors quit the game, I can't tell
9 -
thats the point, now they dont have to remember. as a tunneler myself i can be pretty sure not having to remember or think about my tunneling will help slightly. i will test it out over the next few days and see if it helps but im pretty sure it will.

maybe but still a long shot from the anti tunnel this update was supposed to be. if the point is to prevent tunneling so survivors are not taken out super fast then even if a random encounter with 2 players of the same skin would help the killer prioritise who to eliminate first. not hard tunneling but still pushes the killer to pick their target. i know who im going to pick in that situation, the one with more hook states. without the hook state being visable it was pot luck which of them has more hook states. not anymore, will aid in killer choosing to eliminate the weaker one. it can help killers know which one not to target which was needed in the ptb so the killer didnt get punished for tunneling but i honestly think it can be used to tunnel/target a single player out the match now the ptb changes didnt go through.
