This pallet density update is killing M1 killers
I tried playing ghostface today and man it's noticably worse playing these low tier killers. I played 5 games, 2 were 0 kills, 2 were 1 kill and 1 was a 3k that handed to me in endgame by altruistic survivors.
Every corner is just a safe pallet. I know you can mindgame and what not but once thoes pallets are down you HAVE to kick them. Even when I do just kick them right away there's another around the corner. There's like 20-25 pallets on some maps right now it's crazy. For killers who don't have chase powers you stand no chance.
The worst part is I don't think this even addresses the issue they were trying to fix. I understand having this many pallets against nurse, blight, krasue etc you know who I'm talking about, but they aren't even really affected by pallets?
Ok just a side rant I've been playing in like the same 5 maps for a week can we please just do away with map offerings on both sides? I really just want a random map man.

I think people who downvoting you simple are not aware of all the changes that have been made.
You can't seriously tell me that buffing map like Asylum, that has allready great main building and the map is pretty big is something that was good choice. Go look on Youtube or in custom games for your self, its absolutely overdone on some maps. Not all of them, like Haddonfield needed more pallets because that map was awfull for Survivors and now it's better.

I probably should of clarified what maps I meant I really wasn't talking about haddonfield. But yes some of these maps are just spawning every possible pallet. For a game that wants to encourage killers to chase more and get more hooks this is certainly a step in the wrong direction. It's really hurting low tier killers more than the A-S tiers

Yeah, new pallet changes mean there are pallets everywhere. Granted, they’re technically playable by m1 on their own, but they’re so frequent that there’s always one by every jungle gym window and another pallet not too far that you’ll waste too much time chasing as a normal killer.
I love this change for killers with good or even decent chase powers, but man it’s rough on killers like springtrap and myers lmao.

To be fair, maps like asylum also got size reductions and less tiles because of that. But yeah the outdoor maps have so many pallets now that it is kinda insane.

I have to say I noticed I struggle to get M1 hits on Oni way more than before, survivors always seem to reach another pallet…
Had kinda same issue with Legion.

Brutal Strength + Fire Up or Spirit Fury + Enduring are starting to look REAL good.

I think in general it's not okay that BHVR updated so many maps at once with no notice and so subtly putting it as a "quality of life" update too. I know they updated a lot of maps overtime for killer but they only did that one at a time
9 -
Shadow buffing pallets, then calling it a QoL update, is incredibly dubious. It barely tickles certain killers, punishes others while handholding survivors who will always have an escape route.

Were at new gas heaven there is bus loop and before this patch there spawned the weak window loop now there I got bus loop which deffinitly what this map needed it was already survivor sided before palett density update.

Just slap on a wrist for blight while its another nail into coffin for ghostface.

They will get you through paletts but wont give you more time because gens will have no regression or blocking which would stop them little bit so you will have to have super fast chases or you wil loose in 5-7 minutes.

Why are you playing M1 killers? At this point can you not see you are merely a toy for the Survivor teams amusement as an m1 killer?
The only type of killer welcome in modern DBD are highly mobile dash killers. You should be playing Spirit, Wesker, Hillbilly, Blight, Nurse, Dracula, Kaneki, Krasue... that's all anyone wants. Nerfs to these killers are slow and basically inconsequential.
Every other killer keeps getting screwed over by ever improving survivor basekit effects and perks designed to crap all over m1 killers... whenever anything that gets added that further increases the gulf between m1 killers and the mobile/lethal killers, far too many players clap like mindless seals and defend the changes zealously.
- Made For This
- For The People + Buckle Up
- 5s Decisive Strike
- Old Circle of Healing
- The fights for Shoulder the Burden to lose it's exposed effect
- Ghost Notes and Sprint Burst
- Tunneling and Slugging PTB
- The list goes on...
They slaughtered Skull Merchant and refused to entertain any of the myriad of suggestions to fix her, instead opting to just shoot her in the knees with a shotgun. Chucky got reworked over and over again to remove all of his uniqueness and become just a plain dash killer. They even tried to gut Pig's RBTs and make her all about her ambush... and to this day won't let Sadako have anything to help her out.
This game hates m1 killers. The new standard has been set, nothing can deviate from it, and it's name is Dash.

Good news is, Wraith is fine with this update, he was already a pallet eater before, whats a few more pallets now XD
3 -
Oni had problem with first hit against good players even before this patch, but now I'm literally scared to play him. I saw streamer struggles to land first hit even with BL3, because rng was simply 5 pallets connected to 2 windows and you can't lose it here even if you are worst survivor player.

I had 5 pallets chain into shack window with main building window on suffocation pit. Made the poor unknown dc. One of the most ridiculous updates I’ve seen over my years of playing.
7 -
some of the set ups on certain maps have been crazy. Multiple decent fillers chaining into shack/ into a long wall. The pallet density is so bad it reminds me of 2v8 pallet generation lmao
6 -
The people downvoting this are the usual ones who don’t play killer and thus don’t care how badly any changes made to the game affect the killer player experience.

Calling it “quality of life” is straight up dishonest, frankly. Adding more pallets to maps is a pure survivor buff. If that’s what was intended, then fine, but the devs need to at least be honest about it.

I am starting to wonder if blindness might become more viable, but it likely won't.
Some people are not dumb enough to be lost without their run to yellow perk.
2 -
not every m1 killer, singularity or wraith, its negligible at best.
In fact my main Wraith build is all chase, no gen regression or info. I use STBFL, Bamboozle, Enduring and Brutal, I don't have too much of an issue.-6 -
Yeah my issue is there's so many pallets in range now you don't actually have to play a tile vs a killer without a chase power because if they try to mind game you can just hold W to the next tile enforcing a REALLY boring playstyle. It's a shame some people don't like looping nowadays because not every tile is some super safe "you can only get mind gamed if you don't pay attention" tile.
Like MOST pallets are playable but obviously not the ones like the midwich hallway pallet.1 -
I really do believe BHVR could add increased action speed for M1 killers - like a stacked fire up as basekit for them. They could start with Ghostface and Trapper and then test it. If it turn out to be right could be done for other m1 killers too.
Edit: i don't agree with the amount of pallets they added to the maps. It was just a suggestion on how to make them better because they are all left out in the current state of the game.

Say what you will, but you don't NEED to chase every survivor who takes you to 5 pallet loops, take a few out and go check your gens, I'm not saying the update isnt an issue, but I am saying there is things you can do. For M1 killers who don't have great chase, thats what brutal is for, and gen regression perks. if you have good game sense and know the m1 macro gameplay style well, you take out a few pallets per chase, injure a few people, get a few downs, and slowly work your way into a more advantageous map position. Yes it sounds tedious but its how you win with M1 killers now more than ever.
I do it all the time, even as Trapper, Freddy, Ghostface.6 -
this is them indirectly saying for you to never play trapper or ghostace ever again .
but yeah these changes are awfull for the bottom half specially3 -
This is a great point. I really feel like this impacted the dredge the most. He was a little weak but still balanced but with this new pallet update it just kills his ability to zone with his remnant ability. Once they see you hold the power they can just W key to the next pallet and ignore it.

Yup, this. If the loop is too strong, I leave. I catch up with that survivor later elsewhere. Even before this update that was my approach.

As a Wraith main, I concur, it's just more fibre for my already high-intensity fibre diet. But unfortunately, for other killers, it's just too rich for them.

FR. Absolutely done with Killer for now. Pallet stun - flashlight. Pallet stun - flashlight. Pallet Stun - Flashlight. Gen pop, gen pop gen pop. Hit. Yeah, I'll stick with survivor thanks.

A lot of maps did not need extra pallets, obvious examples to me from memory are Ormond, Blood Lodge, Gas Heaven, Groaning Storehouse but I would estimate 70% of the maps affected did not need it. Haddonfield did need it though.
The only reason you haven't heard more complaints is because a lot of the indoor maps which were unaffected (Lery's, Midwich, Gideon etc) had high spawn chance in the past few weeks, so people didn't notice how bad it was. It's only been since I think 48 hours ago when the map weights changed and people are going to Mac/Auto etc more I've been realising just how bad it is.
PS: The new confused short/long wall gym on Autohaven also needs to be deleted, example below. It's the one with the ginormous L (the left is one continuous wall with one window) and there's a pallet to the right. And this is made worse because survivors can just see you over the wall because it's Autohaven.

We're still completely ignoring the other changes to maps in this update huh. Like all the main building tiles that got nerfed, maps shrunk (again), and new trash tiles where jungle gyms used to spawn? A few more filler pallets that usually end up in a hit for the killer anyways aren't worth the other changes.
-2 -
They could make it based on who the killer is. They coded the basekit pop bonus differently for high tier killers so make the same for maps pallet count.

I don't know if it's just because I've taken a break or not, but a trial yesterday put all of the gens so close together that a 3 gen was inevitable. It's still baffling that scenarios entirely dependent on matchmaking and luck are so prominent in spite of the direction they seem to want to take the game.

I'd recommend you start putting 1 chase perk on like either Dissolution, Hex: Blood Favor, or even Brutal Strength into your build to handle pallets. Happy to give some build ideas to beef up your m1 chase experience.
