Holding her tape prevents going into the void. She needs to be KS for the event as it circumvents the entire event.

People already do not enter the void regardless of the killer, so this is not a problem.

So don't pick up a tape. If you wanna go to the void, you're not accumulating codemned anyway. Just transport your tapes as a team and go to the void, simple as that

Do other killer items do the same thing? Like EMPs, Nemesis syringes, or Wesker's med sprays? Odd if it was just Sadako's video tapes.

It's required to pickup a tape when playing against her and being locked out of going into the void until the tape is put into a tv across the map is circumventing the entire event. Everything else can be put down by Survs, her tapes cannot be, this is very simple logic.
Doesn't matter, everything you just listed can be put down while her tapes cannot be.

You're not "locked out" of the void, you're locked out of obtaining a void crystal. Again, you need to be transporting tapes or just not interacting with her power if you want to get one. Same can be said about someone like Singularity, you need to play normally before you use the event specific items

All I'm asking is if anyone noticed them doing the same thing. I was curious if it was tied to the mechanics of all killer items or just Sadako's. Not sure where the instant dismissiveness comes from.

yeah it doesn't let you in, I've test it myself even opening a portal you can trick her, coz it doesn't let you in but it opens it.

Then it’s a bug that devs never bothered to address because this was also true of Sadako and her tapes during last year’s Haunted by Daylight.
