Recently, we released a quality-of-life update that adjusted how pallets were laid out across certain Realms. We'd love to dig into the specifics of what you like and don't like to help inform future adjustments.

In this thread, let's focus on the Yamaoka Estate Realm. How do you feel about the quantity of pallets here? Are there specific areas you feel have too many or not enough pallets? Share your feedback here - the more specific and detailed you can be, the better! Bonus points if you can share screenshots!

And as for this poll, overall, how do you feel about the current state of pallets in the Yamaoka Estate Realm?

so many god pallets and tiles that connect to each other far too safely now.

Yamaoka was the one realm that got worse than the rest. The map was fine before the update. Now it has too many good filler pallets, some being impossible to mindgame.

Idk why this was changed. Yamaoka was fine.

Yamaoka didn't need the additional pallets. Double vault Pagoda into 3 nearby fillers is a nightmare for half the roster and that's a common thing now. The maps are also massive meaning that low mobility killers already waste a chunk of time crossing them so pallet density changes only encourage giving up part of the map to survivors even more (and it's always been the play to give up a few gens on sanctum of wrath even without being further punished for not playing terrritorially.)

Why mess with a perfect realm? Revert it completely. These maps had ZERO problems, and yet this gets changed while eyrie, badham, and garden of joy have no nerfs this update. Meanwhile, crotus prenn, one of the more survivor sided realms, gets pallets added. At least more pallets were added to haddonfield, ruins, and some of the farm maps that needed it, but seriously, this is why we complain about poor listening. Do polls like this BEFORE screwing everything up. AND TALK TO YOUR COMMUNITY ADVISORS MORE!!!!!

I honestly fine with it. Yamaoka was kinda balanced realm before, but I don't feel like it was buffed to some stupid degree like other maps, just better consistency, like it should be with other maps.

You were crazy adding that amount of pallets. What were you even thinking of?

What are you talking about, Yamaoka was fine before the update? One of the variations had 8-10 pallets on the map, and 4 of them are fillers and 1 is shack. ☠️☠️☠️ it needed help on the survivor side.

I haven’t played since July since I haven’t liked the direction this game has gone in for a verrrrrryyyyy long time, so I have no idea how the maps perform now, but Yamaoka needed a revisit.

    • I like the new pallets that spawn around the Sanctum in-between the statues. They're weak, but a nice bouncing-off point for Lithe or Smash Hit or something if you manage to play them right. But I don't think the rest of the map needed any more pallets. Shack side of the map already could spawn some very strong set ups that were only balanced out by the shape of the map making it easy to defend generators.
    • Family Residence has too many fillers now. I thought it was an okayish map before the changes, but now I really don't enjoy playing on it as Killer.

For each of my ratings I'm going to break them down into two parts with info/map specific info afterwards.

    Tile Type:⭐⭐⭐❌❌

    Pallet Density:⭐❌❌❌❌

Map Specific: Holy Moly Family Residence has so many fillers

Overall: I've always felt Yamaoka was close to balanced, even if I wish there were less rock tiles, since I play Wesker. If I could have my dream change it'd be to keep the old DENSITY, but change many of the safe rock tiles to be actual structures, so non S tiers can actually use their power at them. You've managed to make the Pagodas pretty miserable and removed the ability to cut someone off that uses them poorly, since they insta tie into multiple pallets or windows. However some of the tweaks to certain tiles make them feel so much better to play.

Bottom line, old versions much better than new, even if I wish the previous versions were tweaked.

Sanctum should stay as is since it always felt like one you drop one pallet, an entire quarter of the map was a dead zone, but Yamaoka should probably lose a few of the small filler pallets.

Felt balanced before, so I'm not sure why it was changed.

For some reason though I have not gotten this realm a whole lot after the changes even though I play a lot. As such its hard for me to say with confidence my thoughts on the changes for this realm. My limited experience though does make me think it was unnecessary however.

WAY TOO SAFE. Tiles shouldn't connect into each other this often this well. These maps felt balanced before the change.

Yamaoka really was one of the most balanced realms in the game before this update, so I'm a little lost on why the decision was made to add pallets to this one. Would y'all at all be interested in sharing the internal decision process for where to add new dead zone tiles? I feel like Yamaoka traditionally always has loop resources at the corners of the map, and as survivor (though I'm admittedly like mostly a killer main) i've never felt a painful lack of loops or anything.

I wish there had been more emphasis on actual pallet distribution instead of just lumping on more pallets if that was the issue the team was trying to address.

    This realm should be reverted.

Amount of pallets doesn't seem to have increased, but the quality of loops has.

I should not be seeing rock filler into long-wall into jungle gym into Shack into rock filler.

Would you be able to describe which god pallets you're referring to or - even better - share some screenshots with us? That's be a huge help!

Would you be able to provide some examples of these Family Residence fillers?

If you could, I would really appreciate some specific examples of tiles that you feel connect together in a way that's not vibing with you.

Previously, there were so many dead zones especially on sanctum of wrath. It's been wonderful to play on that map in particular and feel like there's more of a chance for survivor!

Family Residence was fine before and it has been weakened now with quite weak pallets. It would be great to at least diversify them a bit more.

This is another example of a realm that was mostly completely fine and needed no changes at all. Honestly I'd just revert the pallet density changes here. And again, if you think there were deadzones, okay fine, add VERY unsafe pallets to those deadzones. Unsafe pallets like the coldwind farm ones with the hay cone and the crates. Nothing safer than that should be added to these maps.

    Sanctum of Wrath:

The changes made around the fillers near Sanctum of Wrath are excellent.

The small, incredibly weak filler pallets make it possible for Survivors to cross from one side of the map to the other, and it feels very nice.

Before the update, crossing across Sanctum of Wrath's main building to get from one side of the H-shaped map to the other felt like crossing a No Man's Land where you were practically guaranteed to take a hit. These are good pallets, they're not too strong, and I'd love to see them stay. This has solved many of my issues with the map before the update:

    image.png

Generally, I think all of the changes made to Sanctum of Wrath are good changes. This map has less tendency for either of the wide-sides of the "H"-shaped map to run out of pallets before the other - before this was a major issue because crossing from side of the map to the other in the aforementioned "No Man's Land" that is main building was so incredibly dangerous that Survivors would often just stay on one side of the map, using all of the pallets on that one side and depleting them early.

Survivors seem to be feeling much free-er to attempt to cross the map, and the pallets don't deplete too quickly on one side over the other anymore.

Overall, I think Sanctum of Wrath's general changes were perfect.

    Yamaoka Residence

This map generally already felt pretty Survivor-sided due to how long it is, in my opinion, but historically I have dreaded this map as Survivor as I've always been running into dead zones when trying to traverse the map. I don't think it needed many changes, but to be honest I haven't noticed much difference since the update.

    Yamaoka Estate Realm General

Generally, I will concede that while I do think the changes attempted to be addressed were in good faith, I do think some of the filler tiles added to the rest of Yamaoka were too strong. Specifically, many of the boulder loops are very strong, and to see more of these with no way to outplay them beyond eating the pallets is very frustrating. Were they needed? Yes. Were the added fillers too strong? Also yes, I think.

Sanctum of Wrath felt fine honestly, it did have some deadzones before and they are mostly gone now, most of the fillers don't feel too safe. I like the new fillers with the statues around the building.

This was not a good update for Family Residence though and I think that map should be reverted. Too many fillers and instances of fillers connecting into jungle gyms, especially like this for example is pretty common now:

These maps were pretty balanced before, Family Residence could be made a little smaller but other then that these maps were fine. Now there’s way too filler pallets on Family Residence. Sanctum can keep the very weak pallets around main, but other then that any other pallets that were added need to go.

This area was originally well-balanced. There was no need to change it.

The Yamaoka maps felt ok before, but they could use some minor tweaks and they mostly got that. Maybe a bit much, but I've not felt powerless as killer on either Sanctum of Wrath or Family Residence. Overall, I think pretty good changes.

Lots of great feedback in here! If anyone has any screenshot examples of problematic god pallets, please don't hesitate to share them here so I can flag them to the team.

This realm was already well balanced with it's pallet quantity.
Now it's another one where you can mindlessly drop pallets and connect weaker loops with another week one, then a strong one…
A 50/50 is not a 50/50 if it connects to other loops.

Also the double pallets are the worst thing you guys could've cooked since Greenville Square was added and now it feels like a plague that's bleeding to the other realms. A lot of killers powers, like Wesker's, is completely useless on them.
