Do you still 99% doors or just open and try to get everyone out
had a match where someone got upset because i opened the door when someone was on hook.
someone was on hook, opened the door so we can unhook an don't get caught at door and rather we could just get out and bodyblock as we run out as needed but they would rather 99% doors with the chance to get bottlenecked at it and someone goes down and we all get chased out?
I don't see a point in 99% the doors unless someone is in active chase still but curious on others opinions.

99%ing Exit Gates kills way more Survivors than it saves. There's a couple of situations where its appropriate (like if the Killer is currently carrying someone you should wait until they're hooked to avoid Bloodwarden), but for the most part 99%ing is a mistake.

I 90% the gates for a laugh.

you just love the chaos!

If someone is on hook, and I KNOW the other two are going for save, Ill 99 but stay at the gate to open. If I dont have that knowledge, its safer to just open and go for save. Closed gate kills me more than EGC

I open the gates before i move away from the door at all. Don't wanna risk a closed door causing a chased survivor to not be able to leave.

Depends how close a hook is to a gate.

It's entirely down to the situation, if I know someone is in chase I'll usually just 99% and stay around gate, there's nothing worse than the killer holding you in a corner of the map only for your teammates to activate EGC and then the killer refuses to actually try and chase you down, instead just opting to prevent you from reaching the gate

In majority of situations, hopefully when whos hooked or downed is near the gate, you open the gate after they are hooked to avoid Blood Warden. Then, you try to make your position as obvious as possible for your teammates who are also going to bombrush hook.

I usually open them. Assuming a person is on hook or downed, you have 4 mins to do what you need to do, which is plenty of time imo, and I find myself dying more often needing to open the gates than not.

I 99% in about 80% of the time as there is no point to put you and the team on a timer if you aren't in a situation where it does not matter. In the end its situational but there is no good argument to do either option 100% of the time.

You are EVIL 😭

kinda true, but the egc isn't exactly a short amount of time. I usually just open if I leave the gate or 99 if im gonna stay there.

I have had matches where one dies because the timer does not let other heal themselves to go do the save again because time runs out. Four minutes go by fast when you have to do several saves in the end game when things don't go right or killer is good enough to manage to get another downed even if you managed to save the first guy. This happens quite often when the door is totally the opposite side of a huge map. Not to mention the people who open the door way before the killer has caught the one they were chasing so they already waste 30-60 seconds of the egc because of that.

Me being injured running from the killer to the gate only to see it hasn't even been worked on or at 90% with the healthy rando just waiting there
Please open that dam gate, please.

Don't stress it. It's 2025- most of us know 99ng an exit gate is not the move anymore. For the few that don't, just educate them and tell them to google it or come to the forums. Hell, now you can even link them to your/this thread.
FOR ANYONE READING THIS AFTER YOU GOT MAD AT @random1543 for not 99ng the exit gates, just know 2020 called: they want you and that old ass strategy back.
