Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

The primary reason most are miserable playing dbd

There are many things in this game that can attribute to the game not being fun on either side, weather it be tunneling, camping, t bagging, taunting, griefing, slugging, bullying etc.

But what do all of those have in common? There is a player on the other end, choosing to make another person miserable either as their entertainment, or simply for their benefit. We are miserable playing dbd, because we make eachother miserable. We have lost all respect for one another while playing this game, yet blame the devs for the way the game was made. WE Invented tunneling, WE invented camping, slugging, bming, griefing and everything that causes the rounds to not be fun. And if they try to fix any of those things, side A gets mad that side B will take advantage of the fix.

When a killer isnt tunneling, they are going out of their way to play "honorably" because they understand what the person on the other end feels like when it happens to them. Yet you will still get the full team of people at the gate t bagging the killer with 0 respect or honor towards them. So likewise survivors avoid bringing items or atleast flashlights out of respect towards the killer player, trying to make it less stressful for them, and in turn the killer turbo tunnels them and griefs them on the hook anyway. This is what the community has turned this game into and why most are miserable playing the game, because the toxicity has spread so far that nobody cares about eachother anymore, or about playing honorably, or having any respect for eachother. Players who do are quite rare now.

When you start a round as survivor, and you see the killer turns out to be something like Kaneki, doctor, plague, legion, nurse, blight, krasue etc, the very first thing that pops into your head is you don't like that player for choosing that killer. Not because of the way that killer kills people, but because that player is aware that its an annoying playstyle and chose to play them anyway. But why should it matter which killer shows up? Its the same goal every round, just a different way to play around it. It matters because those killers also tend to not care about respecting the survivors either and you've gotten so used to it most of the time, that you attribute them immediately as a tunneler etc before theyve even left the first hook, which is why u see some people dc right on the first hook even.

The whole point of this is, that the game might be developed by bhvr, but at the end of the day WE make the game good or bad, and so far most just make it bad. If only there was some way to get everyone to agree to play honorably somehow. But enforcing it doesnt seem to work either as the whole community set their calendars for doomsday last time the anti tunnel changes were set in motion, because side B was laughing and ready to abuse their end of the fix, so now nothing gets fixed. There doesnt really seem to be a way to enforce both sides at the same time either.

Ive played this game since its earlier years and have managed to get all the achievements / challenges, got almost 7 p100s, every character to atleast p3 or p6, but now i just play for the 4 dailies, and log off. If you have fun playing a game you would sit there playing it all day (if you have time) regardless of bonus bp or or collectable offerings.

Truer words have never been spoken. But that's just how humans are, not just in DBD, but in other games, and even real life, too. I don't think there's any fix for that, at least not by any human ability.

While I agree with several of your points, I do believe BHVR bears responsibility for how many Killers choose to play. In any game—whether it’s DBD, Call of Duty, Fortnite, or something else—if there’s a mechanic that can be exploited, players will inevitably take advantage of it. You could argue that Killers “invented” tunneling and slugging, but if those behaviors weren’t properly accounted for during development, it’s only natural they’d become common strategies. BHVR provided the tools, and players are simply using them as they see fit.

That said, you’re absolutely right about toxic players who go out of their way to ruin the experience for others. Many of us just want to enjoy the game. Still, unless BHVR addresses these underlying design issues, players will continue to exploit whatever systems are available to them.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Well-written and a well thought-out post @ShanoaLegendaryPlz
Now, I might be one of the few that you describe as an honorable killer. I set my goal each round to hook everyone at least once before I go for the second stage. That way, the survivors gets rotated around enough for everyone to be able to interact with other things than gens all the time. For the most part, I also give the last survivor a fighting chance in the end, whether it is the hatch, or the doors, and I also respect good survivors, and sometimes letting them go, as a courtesy for doing a good job.

It's really unfortunate and you can't fix it. It's people. These are mostly grown adults—many middle-aged—and if they don't have empathy in something as unimportant as a video game by now, they've unlikely to suddenly develop it.

I am that honorable killler who gets tbagged, and I'm also that non-toxic, no-flashlight survivor getting hit on hook. Much like I'm these two things, I assume the hook hitting killers are often the same people as the tbagging survivors. The attitudes will show up in both roles if you're that sort of person.

But I encounter plenty of other chill players. I love friendly interactions at the exit gates, when both sides are mature enough to accept outcomes and be cool. Those sorts of interactions do a good job of reminding me that plenty of people are cool and understand their opponenets are human.

Bingo. I see this a lot in SoloQ, the Killer will make the match absolutely miserable for us because their tilted from their miserable matches against SWF. Then the Survs in turn start making it miserable for each other because that's the only form of control they can exert during the match. When it comes to the last two Survs in SoloQ, they usually always will rat on each other or tea bag each other on the ground just for the Killer to then 4k instead of letting anyone have the hatch lol

The community bickers against each other about their "side" instead of blaming BHVR for awful balancing and lackluster band aid fixes for issues.

This is at least for the me the best point. Killers I believe as I once did, start the game/matches honorably and don't set out from the start to be toxic. But as we all know, the matchmaking system is abysmal and you often get thrown in with the toxic swf teams that do all the bad things mentioned, no matter how non-toxic a killer is or was. Then, after time if that player didn't outright quit the game, they become tilted and go out of their way now that they know how to play the game to be as bitter as they can towards survivors of any team design. You get sick of it, and well, only one way to get back or let it out it is to be toxic back.
