Please don't bring back this event ever again
One of the worst events that we had. The only incentive to play was the rift rewards (if you care about them), but other than that, it's just been awful. Poor BPs, no rewarding powers, extremely one sided void. The main game mode was more fun than this.

It's been rough, yeah. I've played it for the Quest cosmetics but if they had been for characters I don't use I don't think I would have bothered.

I would of been happy with just halloween decorations instead of this event.

I will have to agree on this. It has been awful for the survivor side, and it hasn't really been great for killer either.
You'd either had to bang out the gens, or have pretty much zero chances if you interacted with anything void-related as survivor, or risk losing a lot of valuable time as killer if you went in there to grab the haunts.
I agree that the BP awards has been abysmal, much due to the fact that the event offerings are personal, and not stackable, and that the event BP doesn't factor in other offerings, like BPS and anniversary cakes, like it used to in the past. The only fun thing I have had with the event is playing Scratched Mirror Myers. The haunts makes it a lot more fun, and you have a sort of natural slowdown with that playstyle, since the survivors will likely be on edge.

EVERY evt that is not Anniversary is bad.
ALL of them introduce minimal changes to gameplay and the specific offering is ALWAYS far inferior to a cake.
Also even the Anniversary is not the same anymore. p100 got screwed with bloodwebs basically not generating anything related to the evt. For this anniversary they did something, but for this Halloween sometimes the bloodweb only has the useless offering and the Mysterious Box can also sometimes give you this crappy offering.
Surely the Winter evt and all of them from now on will screw p100 characters.
Oh, forgot to say that also starting this anniversary the evt nodes are taking the spot of iridescent ones, so even less incentive to play and farm BP.3 -
I only went to make Huants for the Quests and I did it on matches where there were two survivors left and 4 gens to do, so guaranteed wins when I had time to kill. It sucks the Quest unlockables (and convenience) are the only incentives to actually interact with the event elements. Otherwise, I smash pumpkins while I wait for the last survivor on the hook to die.

Yea I completely ignored it. The only thing I liked was the animated banner and they locked that away as the last reward and I have to do 18 quests for it. Easy pass.
Hopefully next year, they actually have something new designed and/or put in some effort. This was very lazy.

I really dislike how much people sweat in event queue too when people are generally just trying to get the challenges done.
And then there is the other people who bring Sadako, so survivors have a really awkward time going into the void too coz the tapes stop you from entering until you get rid of it.3 -
True! This event is terrible!
But I guess it will return, because it's easier for the devs to recycle old stuff than creating something new. Also, they have no idea why people play their game (as can be seen by the upcomming killer bonuses for the socalled unique hooks).
It bothers me that no one is participating in the event stuff even when they use the event offerings. In the end they get nothing out of it (so why not bring other offerings or just play the normal mode?). I just had a game with 1 hook 1 kicked gen, 3 destroyed pallets (bad). Also I kicked almost every pumpkin on the map, opend 3 voids, filled the well 2 times and in the end got more BP than the survivors, because nobody from their team cared about anything then gens. What does that mean? This event is so detached from the actual gameplay that if you participate in it and play it as its intended you will eventually lose the game… Sad!

I feel like the only enjoyable things from the event for me where the new outfits and the points you got from the offerings. They allowed me to unlock perks for many other characters and made me start to feel fun from the standard gameplay (The irony in it). I now play DBD much more, before it was very casual because it just wasn't enjoyable with the current perk unlocking system.

The issue for me is that it doesn't even feel like an event. The crystals don't feel impactful enough so I ignore the Void entirely unless I'm forced to interact with it for a challenge. Aside from that, we just have spooky pumpkins.
It would be nice to feel like there's something special about this queue.

you'd think the Halloween event would be the most hyped and the best event cause it fits the game super well but nah it isn't.
never has been and always been mid, this year it was actually bad I barely played it at all.
these event changes like anniversary cakes getting nerfed (and even defended by BHVR) and now event items are more expensive like who's actually behind these changes? who asked for this? how could this even happen like seriously whoever is making those choices need to reconsider or not be in charge of that anymore.

No arguments there. 😭

- The only reason I played this event was FOMO. After I got the skins, I ran into the normal queue... yeah, I didn't like it. I hope they come up with a better/funnier idea next year.

I liked the first iteration of Lights Out, but not the second. At least we won't have to worry about Legion in this upcoming 2v8. Though I'm not sure how I'll deal with Executioner, since I have a rough time with him even in the normal game... And Dracula has a similar attack, so I'm gonna be screwed...

I hate 2v8 but playing Dracula has me a little hyped ngl

The main issue from a survivor perspective was that the best way to do stuff was basically:
- kick pumpkins
- stay away from the void, it has too low value to even consider going there
- kick pumpkins
- do gens
- kick pumpkins
- die because killers find you first and no one unhooks you because they kick pumpkins
- kick pumpkins (even if others die on hook)
And that unfortunately tells the story of this event.

I might swoon over a Dracula/Wesker duo, but that's about it, lol…

Frustrating part for me has been the haunts, i swear I'm cursed. I'll hit a survivor in front of me dead on and they'll just scream. I even let the last survivor in one of my games open the exit gate, since she'd be standing stationary and a guaranteed hit/injury, and she still just screamed 🤣 i was so embarrassed

Yeah, I have to agree with this one. I think this is the worst event this year. I can't force myself to play it at all. Feels like there's no point with how empty and poor rewarding the void is. The halloween event offerings needs some serious bp boost for everyone

Last 2v8, camping/tunneling/slugging was horrible. I had less than half the escape rate I do in the regular queue. No Legion is nice, but the addition of Dracula and PH's powers as compensation? No thank you.
I'm genuinely glad you'll have a good time though. 😎 Please just pray to BHVR for me that it's all Sable and Mikaela cosmetics so I don't have to play. 🤣
2 -
I'll have a good time playing killer, yeah, but that play while you wait willl be all pain. I also had an abysmal escape last time. But I also barely touched the mode. It's probably my most hated event.
I feel the same way you do for this event. I saw the Felix cosmetic and was like, "Can I please just buy it??" I'm enjoying my tail though, even though the aura on it makes me super targetable.

I don't care about playing the event necessarily but they need to stop forcing people to play the other role. I'm primarily a killer player, I don't want to play solo queue survivor. It's boring at best and sucks at worst. Literally every other match has someone who quits first hook or makes the most mindnumbingly dumb play that gets the whole team snowballed.
Like who thought this was a good idea? Get rid of this garbage FFS.

It's a shame too because I loved 2v8 at first. It had its issues sure but the game felt like it was 50/50 again. Then the RE chapter had to go and ruin it.
Same. But now that I have the outfit, the hair (like always) makes me feel like I have a drag wig on or something. 😭 Can we please leave the Bump Its in 2008 where they belong? However… paired with the Side Quiff? Now that's a look.
1 -
Omg haha it absolutely does have drag energy. I can't unthink that now. Idk why they chose that bright yellow color either. His regular hair, or maybe a short ponytail, would have been fine.
Even a 2v8-sized map could barely contain all that arrogance.

It makes me miss the modding scene. 😭

I don't like 2v8 either, but it's better than Haunted by Daylight because everyone is still on the same map and everyone has the same goal. I have nothing against the idea of having two maps in one match, but then the transition has to make sense, for example by moving some generators into the Void.

Imagine Dracula with Wesker voicelines.
Downing someone with the fire pillars and going "Poor performance indeed"2 -
For me 2v8 is best game mode from all it brings the chaos part and its not that sweaty or super busted (unless duo on coms plays legion with oni and they treat it like comp match which is pain to deal with).
Worst event for me was the bloodmoon with blood gens it was so easy as survivor, all you had to do was just one normal gen and than 4 blood gens that could be done with 3 full blood cans, killers perks even powers didnt worked with blood gens so bye bye pig and teaming on blood gens didnt have any penalty for progress plus blood pumps could dpawn super close to blood gens which could be done in 20-30 seconds (depends how close the blood pump was and how many survivors did it) not to mention blood pumps messed the hooks spawn locations so me hooks couldnt be used like the ones on rpd top floor because you couldnt hook there the hook was so close to wall or there was less hooks or they were further from each other.0 -
You're right!!! That one was really really bad!!!
Luckily, I've completely forgotten about that event because it traumatized me.
At least the trauma therapy worked!
1 -
For me bloodmoon was worst with those gens especialy for majority of killers, chaos shuffle isnt bad idea but many people cant play without their meta and bring op addons with items and play it sweaty as hell, lights out wasnt survivor friendly but it had best horror atmosphear from all modes or parts of DBD even the old one. There isnt better mode than 2v8 in my opinion (if we dont count 1v4 but thats just players preference) especialy now you dont wait as killer for game like 25+ minutes but can play survivor or the minutes you have to wait are valid and the game wont kick you out of findibg match about 15 minutes in because server lost conection or other annoying bs that happen before in 2v8.

I say this as someone that really looks forward to events, this Halloween has been a huge let down.
I really enjoyed the void last year but the design time around has been a big downgrade. But even if it had been better designed, I've come to the conclusion that the void itself is a failed concept. Expecting players to prioritize interaction with the fun event mechanics over winning the game is apparently far too optimistic of the devs. BHVR would be better off sticking all the event stuff on the main map so that players needn't go to any bother to interact with event mechanics. Most players I've encountered just treat the event queue like they're playing an average 1V4 match. At least the anniversary event forced you to interact whether you wanted to or not with the bag of Tryks mechanic.
2V8 is a total washout with Legion being left out this time, so the next thing for me to look forward to will be the Winter event. I think it might be time for a DBD break.

Killers shouldn't get notified you're in the void unless you linger there or keep going in/out.
If the killer isn't in chase you've entered the free hit zone. If the killer is in chase you just sacrificed half a generator for a crystal that repairs 1/4th a gen.

Best thing in this evt is p100 being screwed over with Bloodwebs that only have the useless offering guarantee and 10% of them can still come without a mistery box/only the offering and this trash can also be found in the boxes.
Aside from that is another bad evt with minimal changes to gameplay where the offering is FAR inferior than cakes like any other besides anniversary.1 -
This was the worst Halloween event they've ever done. By far.

As someone who loved the previous haunted by daylight events, I have to say that it was really lackluster. Nothing new, they actually removed content and as survivor there is no reason to go into the void ever. Going in the void was mostly a death sentence for survivors sadly.
6 -
they really need to start from scratch and make a brand new halloween event next year. Haunted by Daylight/The Void has ran its course.

i definetly found the aniversary event to be the best . They way it naturally gives you different powerups without requiring you to leave into the void. I also didn't mind trix talking.

My last few days of killler matches in the event have seen almost no one going into the void at all. Everyone is playing like normal mode. Maybe you smash a pumpkin here and there but thats it. What's the point?
1 -
Mode is a failure when the majority of sweat players just ignore the event mechanics altogether, it's basically just normal mode but with a Halloween theme. I love waiting 10mins to get in to a survivor match only to get hard tunnelled multiple times without even managing to complete a single event gen for the challenges… I'd take Chaos Shuffle over this mode, least that gives you a different match experience every time.
