If we are signed up, but haven't received the Halloween charm email what do we do?
I have yet to receive a code for the promotional Halloween charm. I've checked my spam and everything. Nothing is there. Tried searching it all. Nothing. I check my account. I'm still signed up. What gives?

If you are signed up to the BHVR Account and have both boxes ticked to allow us to contact you with personalised content etc, you should most definitely have received the charm. If you have not received it despite those things being done, please contact our Player Support team who can check the accounts etc, I believe its those that were signed up prior to the 14th October.

So you guys aren't going to recirculate the E-Mail?
It's exclusive to people who, somehow, knew to tick two boxes before the 14th?
It's exclusive to people who signed up for the same newsletter twice, unprompted.
Have you not seen the avalanche of people saying they're not getting their E-Mail?
I don't think shoveling all of those people onto the player support team is a good idea.

I do appreciate the feedback, there will always be personalised marketing that goes out to those who are signed up for it - and this particular newsletter was part of that. There was a resend of the email for those that were caught in a tech issue, but it did not change the initial criteria of being signed up by the 14th October.
There is unfortunately, no other option but to direct players to Player Support, if they are signed up by the date in question with the boxes ticked, and Player Support can check that information.

And all of the people who were already signed up for the newsletter before the tick boxes existed?
They just don't matter?
That doesn't seem fair considering the large amount of people who are clearly already signed up without having been properly notified about needing to sign up again.

the tick boxes have always been there, they are a legal requirement in order for us to send information via the BHVR Account.

I’ll let you know that prior to October 14th I was in fact signed up, both boxes were checked. After contacting your player support twice regarding this issue, there was still ZERO help. Telling people well if you contact tech support there’s hope is such a let down and giving out false hope that something will be done, especially given the amount of those (including me) who have been signed up and still haven’t received any accommodation regarding this issue. Something needs to happen, cause the vast majority of us who didn’t receive it, despite being signed up, deserve compensation.

Would you like to give me your ticket number so that I can look into that, as they do check that you were signed up and the boxes were checked to see if there's further issues (its' how we found the tech issue)?

I had them check, they in fact looked at my account and said unfortunately they couldn’t help me with my issue considering it was a personalized code and they can’t grant it to my account or resend the email. Both ticket numbers are #2007485 & #1999355. If anything can be done, please let me know. I appreciate you wanting to help.

found your newsletter and our information shows that you didn't sign up for the marketing consent initially and only changed this on the 26th October, so you would not have been eligible for the newsletter or charm, hence it didn't get granted to you by our Player Support.

Unchecking & rechecking the boxes is what I did, in hopes it would’ve showed up. Prior to that; I was in fact signed up and checked the existing boxes that were there. But that’s completely fine.

The E-Mail didn't reach it's target audience because of a technicality.
Any reasonable person would see the obvious solution to that problem & just do it without having to do damage control.
- "Hello everyone, please reconnect your BHVR accounts".
- Wait a couple days.
- Re-send the E-Mail.
but we're here instead.

The tech issue was on our side, nothing to do with having to reconnect accounts, and it was resolved and the emails resent. I'm very sorry that you did not have the marketing consent boxes ticked in order to received these email, but unfortunately there is nothing I can do.

We were receiving the newsletter Emails no problem until someone decided to make the consent boxes mandatory.
So, our accounts were connected, but they needed to be reviewed & updated by the users or else the accounts stops receiving the newsletters.
That is, unambiguously, reconnecting the accounts.
Something that nobody was told to do until now.

The personalised marketing boxes have been there for a long long time now, since the BHVR account was launched, that's why I said there was nothing to do with reconnecting accounts. The tech issues was sending the emails from our side.

Regardless of their age, the marketing check boxes weren't always mandatory.
When that was changed, nobody was informed of it.
I can tell nobody was properly warned by the slew of people confused as to why they're being excluded despite their accounts already being connected.

Exactly! Why is it so difficult for them to even understand this? The problem is in fact in their end, lack of advising their audience and players is resulting in this outrage. Admitting it’s a tech issue on their end but still not holding themselves accountable is honestly mind blowing .

that's the deadbydaylight.com email. The charm etc was sent to those signed up via the BHVR Account - it's a very different thing.

Oh, I see! So it wasn't a matter of reconnecting your account. All of this happened because there are two different newsletters to subscribe to.
That makes the whole situation much less complicated.
A completely different subscription nobody was informed of.
What a very normal thing to do.
What's even the point of making a second one when you guys were already handing out personalized codes on the first one?

The deadbydaylight.com one is specifically for Dead by Daylight advertising. Anyone can sign up for it on the site, even if they don't own the game. A BHVR account encompasses their entire library (so not just Dead by Daylight) and allows you to connect your games and platforms, get cross game rewards, Twitch drops, etc. So it's more personal, hence why they'd be sending freebies, like the charm, to those with BHVR accounts.
If you log into your BHVR account, click the lines in the upper right corner, and go down to Communication Preferences, that's where the boxes need to be checked so you get the emails. I think that's the distinction (for future reference) between the two newsletters.

It's disappointing that this is the first actual explanation I've seen regarding this bizarre Email situation.
Now all that needs to be done is telegraph this information to all of the people who are still in the dark as to why they haven't received their Emails.
Hopefully a certain community management team can drum up some pinned posts, tweets, & in-game mail elaborating on the need to hit those check boxes for your Halloween mail.
& then, y'know, re-send the Email so people can actually get it.

This explains it well. I actually had no idea I was signed up for this. I saw the thing about the charm here, went to sign up, and then found the email already in my inbox. I guess because I signed up for the stats and didn't even notice I'd subscribed.

Funny thing is, I signed up too (been signed up), but again, never received any email regarding this newsletter. There’s clear confusion on where you need to be signed up, what you need to be signed up to and how to do it properly since they updated the terms.
Moral of the story, notify everyone through the in game mail to update your behaviour account & have them relaunch the newsletter that the vast majority didn’t receive. Problem solved.2
