So, Pig is being nerfed again btw (via Anti Tunnel)

⚠️ Sound the alarm! Pig Nerf!!! ⚠️

Fun fact, Pig's Jigsaw boxes do not count as a Conspicuous Action, meaning OTR and Decisive Strike stay active while doing a box.

This also applies for Borrowed Time ofc, but obviously this is usually too short to matter. However with the new anti-tunnel changes coming in, Survivors coming off hook with an RBT on their head, even at base speeds can take a quick heal, and still have time to hot foot it over to a Pig Box with their 10% extra haste and get quite a headstart on their headtrap timer.

Now because it isnt a conspicuous action, this buff won't disable, so if they have Resurgence, We'll Make It, or something similar, there is a good chance they can complete a box and then carry the 10% Haste for a short time onto the next one as well...

Needless to say, whether you're a believer head pops should be a realistic outcome, or if you believe that head traps are purely just for slowdown... either way, Pig's headtrap pressure is inevitably hurt by these anti tunnel changes, and hey presto, we've got a nerf to Pig... even if she isn't tunneling. -🐽-

Compensation pl0x?

Given that her timings are pretty dependent on numerous factors, such as map size, box spawns, survivor speed, etc, etc... all of which have gotten progressively worse for her over time.... her 150s base time with no changes isnt gonna cut it. Just cranking down the number seems a bit of a problem (and definitely supporting a headpop playstyle)... so what to do?

Personally I vote for Ruleset Number 2 basekit to compensate. Would make a number of her add-ons better passively (such as Jigsaws Sketch/Annotated Plan, the Gears Add-ons and Amanda's Secret), and actually mean Pig has a much better time tracking her headtraps in your average game to work out her pattern and play around it accordingly. ^🐽^

If needed they could tweak the base-time by a couple of seconds or so, but ruleset No.2 being base-kit, probably not.

It creates a disconnect for survivor player actions when trying to understand the power: The Jigsaw boxes are not highlighted, insinuating you cannot use them until they become highlighted (EG: cannot use them until they are activated, like the trap), which is not the case.

And further muddies balancing as you said: by increasing the power of other addons passively, not flatly increasing her base power.

This is not something that will hurt Pig. Tunneling people with traps is time waste and power waste. I feel like Pig needs a bit more.

    → 14 searches per traps (was 12)

    → 2.5s dash (was 2.3s)

    → 2.5m/s charge movespeed (was 0m/s)

With that, she would feel way more smooth.

Btw, I don't know if you catch it, but the antitunnel system says:

"If you are healed to full, haste, endurance and elusive deactivate".

they shouldn’t be considered a conspicuous action. Also i think rbt’s need to be treated like wesker and krasues infection, where in if you hook someone with an active trap the timer resets.

Great thread and suggestions, as usual, Undedd. The conspicuous action should be counted when searching a box, as not being counted as such just further reduces the value of RBTs which are a core and iconic tool used throughout the SAW series.

So, nothings changed and you're claiming that existing mechanics are a nerf to Pig?

Seems a bit of a flippant response...

So if I were to respond in kind I would patronisingly point out how distance = speed × time, but the maths shows that isnt a big issue at all really, so it would be a fake point to make.

You don't strike me as a Pig main… if you are I apologise, but if you aren't, and for anyone who also isn't a Pig main, let me explain my thought processes.

The raw speed isn't really the issue in of itself, it's the fact there is no need to fear the Pig as you make your way to a Pig Box off hook...

To breakdown some Pig thoughts and strategy, Pig doesn't typically get to go very far from hook before an unhook is made, if she doesn't find someone fast after hooking, her weak mobility tends to mean she is better heading back to hook.

Now Pig is unique in that her built in mechanics don't necessarily benefit her to tunnel off hook, the timer pauses if she starts chase with that Survivor, so she is not gaining value from her RBTs while doing so, she has a non tunnel incentive built in to her kit. What she wants is that Survivor not to be healed and off doing their boxes. This gives her chances to see which way the Survivor goes and look to intercept that Survivor later if she finds herself in roughly the right area of map. So returning to hook to chase the unhooker is a good move a lot of the time for Pig.

The thing is, by doing this, you are also putting the threat you might tunnel there as well, especially if a Survivor makes it easy for you... you are Pig, you want any advantage you can get. So in the event the unhooked Survivor doesn't make it free, they do have to fear you and try to evade you. This means they will path/hide suboptimally, and waste crucial time on their RBT that assists in mounting her pressure. The more time this wastes, the more pressure the Survivor is under to do their boxes, preventing them from assisting in key moments, such as going for hook saves and alike.

With the anti-tunnel changes however, the Survivor has no grunts of pain, no scratch marks, no pools of blood, can see the Pig's aura, has 10% Haste, they can far more easily slip away from the hook unseen by the Pig, or even if they are seen, with little she is worth doing about it... they reach the box at a much higher pace than normal, effectively remaining more or less completely unhindered no matter what threats the Pig might pose...

This is what is what greatly hinders her box pressure, there is effective no reason not to beeline straight for the box, you're completely safe doing so.

Exactly, and that's not even taking into account items like syringe and how they are now doubling the distance, which completely imbalances the formula's balance. If distance = speed x time and now survs not only have these carry over longer, but can effectively bring in items to double that distance then the RBT's lethality and effectiveness are being severely impacted by these changes. Simple as. Heads up post as usual, @UndeddJester.
