Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

EU servers are ruined by high ping killers

EU servers are ruined by high ping killers from outside of EU… Majority of killers I get each game are 60, 80, 100+ ping and it just feels unfair? Anything over 60 always gets a free hit through a pallet or window. Why do killers with high ping always get priority on hits when I have 20-30 ping? Should pallet stuns not stop the killer from injuring me? Someones bad ping should not be my problem.

I wouldn't complain about someone having 50-60 ping. Not everyone lives near uk servers or german servers.

I also have south african friends i play with sometimes and they sadly have to play on EU servers since they don't have their own servers. I think that is the case with many south africans.

I think the problematic pings are all above 80+ thats when you start seeing the weird hits happen.

Yeah I don't understand the reason for that, given its close proximity to Dublin but I'm sure there's a good reason.

Not just EU servers lol. I think it's unforgivable that the game allows pings above 180-200. And it's even worse that the game forces you to play against killers with 300-500-800 ping. Why would you play a match against a killer like that? It makes no sense. If the game detects that a player has more than 200 ping (whether killer or survivor), the match should be automatically canceled.

*To clarify, I don't live near a server, BUT I do live in the area where there are servers, which means my ping is between 100-120, and I play against people whose ping is 80-100. Unfortunately, we play against people from China (they don't have servers there, and theoretically, they shouldn't be playing DBD either because I understand violent games are banned), but they're using VPNs and have pings of 200-300, even up to 800... it doesn't make sense.

This is not correct, they do have their servers now (in Hong Kong). So it's not like they don't have a choice, but they use vpn on purpose to take the bad ping advantage. To me, this is another way of cheating.

to clear this. no player is favored over the other on hit registration. it's a server thing. happened in server, happens for both players. good or bad.

now… I think 60-80 ping is a perfectly fine range to have. not amazing but very playable.

Also why I was always in favour of seeing ping in lobby. So you can get out before the game starts if someone has a bad connection.

High ping killers basically can become immune to pallet saves, flash saves, pallet stuns, getting blinded on pallets and depending on killer some of their powers become almost impossible to counter reliably. Also normal loops can become unwinnable with laggy movement. That is a lot of aspects removed from the game and make you play the game in a completely different way, which isn't fun.

100+ ping Wesker brings another layer of "fun" - an RNG.
Why it's always Wesker though or is it just me?

that's not true, so many legendaries have like a huge list of bugs as do normal cosmetics, and they keep piling more broken ones to the list.

I don't understand at all why killers would willingly use a VPN to play with bad ping.

I've done this twice now to go from my region of NA to EU but I did it solely for the purpose of seeing for myself just how good EU survivors are compared to NA since everyone loves to gloat how amazing and better they are.

That being said, I play the Wraith, and playing him with 100+ Ping is like playing him powerless, its endlessly frustrating, I can win a lot of games this way but so what.

I never have fun playing with ping that high and the "advantage" of a free hit is never worth it. When I get hit with that ping, yea so once per game I get a free hit, but what survivors don't see is the other 9 out of 10 times I swing at someone through a pallet cause that's my bread and butter strategy and the game fake hits them where I see and hear the hit animation but they don't get injured.

For me, at least as Wraith, I feel SO MUCH more punished using high ping than the survivors are being, and even if I wasn't its so boring and frustrating I would never willingly do it.

Because Dead by Daylight is the only game where having a high ping is an advantage :D

Reason why there is high ping killers on european servers is the war in ukraine. It has caused several operators to prevent direct connections to european servers from Russia so most russians have to use VPN to go around the restrictions causing them to gain ping because their connection still needs go through way more servers than it would if it would not have those restrictions.

Also blaming streamers of promoting VPN usage is not for any other reason than the fact that hackers can track anyone by their ip in this game. So cheaters use that to join streamers lobbies if you use VPN they can't do that. So in short the streamers use VPN to protect themselves from the cheaters who just want to ruin their matches.
