Make PTB a separate "game" on steam instead of it being a different branch
I love PTB. PTB is awesome. But due to how its set up its a PITA to have both PTB and normal version on the disk on steam.
Due to the way Steam manages branches (including beta → PTB) its impossible to have them both side by side without redownloading the beta/base game.
Making PTB a separate product on steam that is only internally available when PTB launches would be a much better solution. It requires some planning, sure but the benefit in my opinion is worth it.
That way you can play either PTB or Base game without having to redownload anything. And you would just update PTB if necessary which would also reduce the bandwith.

Make it a separate "game" and also make it free. I don't have DBD on Steam, and I would love to participate in the PTB, but I'm not buying a whole separate copy of the game.
Also, I think companies should have to pay for their own QA testing rather than exploiting their customer-base for it

That doesn't sound like a bad idea, although I have no idea if it's plausible (not a programmer)

Making it free wouldn't be a good idea. Without the exploiting you couldnt test the new changes and have your opinion about them.
Its absolutely plausible. It just requires time to migrate from the branch into a separate game. Its not hard, just time consuming

I guess we'll all have to take your word on that

True, and lots of bugs still get past them, the list of cosmetic bugs is just getting longer and longer and its sad.

Sorry, you misunderstood me. What I meant is you obviously dont pay for access for PTB, but the game checks if you have the full game bought. If not, it kicks you out. Or something like that.

That's a really good idea! Hope the devs take notice!

I mean they can do that already by checking your BHVR account linked to the steam one, so I guess it wouldn't be too hard to do.
