Plague in 2v8: Actually strong?
So... I've been thinking about killers being added to 2v8, and my initial gut feeling, as I first thought about Plague, much like I'm sure everyone did, that she would be very strong in 2v8.
However we've played 6 versions of 2v8, and we've seen what works, and what doesn't... as looking at what Plague has, and how she works... I'm not entirely convinced Plague would be as strong as many people would initially think...
So to give it a real ponder, I'm going to list a number of reasons why I don't think Plague would struggle in 2v8 more than people might think.
- She's 4.6, and the maps in 2v8 are a lot bigger. Unlike her fellow injury counterpart Legion, Plague cannot get across the map fast, she will not be able to keep injuring multiple Survivors back to back with anywhere near the same efficiency. She can spit on gens... but that is ALOT of gens... and I think trying to do this would waste more time than it would gain her.
- Her injury is not instantaneous, it takes time to build up, and more than that, is jukable/preventable from LoS blocks... it's not as free to apply to Survivors as Legion's is in 2v8. Plague has to keep vomiting on Survivors or leave them a while to become infected. This is a time slowdown not really afforded to killers in 2v8, neither she or her teammate can afford to walk around waiting for the injury. Note: a survivor not fully infected when downed will not infect another Survivor when unhooked.
- Until she gets her Corrupt Purge, unlike Legion who can forgo m1s and just focus on bouncing from Survivor to Survivor... Plague meanwhile is actually stuck as an m1 killer, in a mode where the pallet density is high, can be rebuilt by Survivors, and there are many pocket Sprint Bursts to stop her getting momentum.
- Survivors get teleported across the map when hooked, Plague normally excels by injuring everyone then picking people off as they rotate for the unhooks... in 2v8 she can't do this.
- Survivors teleporting across the map also makes Survivors go far away from Plague, meaning her fountains will likely not be defendable by her at all and allow for easy uncontested Purges, and similarly having to walk across the map to get her Corrupt Purge is a slowdown she often eont be able to afford.
- Even if she gets her Corrupt Purge, while the ability definitely is strong, she is still 4.6, and the CP is limited range... She is not like Oni where she can reach all the places she needs to exert pressure and go on a massive down sprees whenever she wants… Survivors can flee to the edge of the map and still waste a lot of her time.
- While in Corrupt Purge, Plague also has to be extremely fearful of any stuns, as she immediately loses her Corrupt Purge. With the pallet density how it is, getting caught on a pallet drop/having to check for nearby pallet savers will be a constant problem for her.
That's not to say I think she'll be bad, I think shell be pretty good in 2v8... but I don't see her being anywhere near the wrecking machine Legion was, and my new gut feeling, is I think she'll be kinda mid, at best.

She'll be too strong in 2v8 if left how she is in 1v4, information when people touch a gen etc, fountains competing with other killers who need props. Again like legion it probably won't even be because of her being strong, it'll be her utility paired with another killer
Like don't get me wrong I think your reasons are valid but she isn't the only killer, it's the same reason legion is annoying, she'd not even need vile purge to be effective, just go around puking on everything and everyone not even putting them into broken coz it'll do it itself like a DoT.
if people keep going for fountains then she basically knows where the survivors are as they cleanse too.0 -
If Legion was removed due to their ability to injure people too quickly (and subsequent synergies with certain killers), then Plague wouldn't fare well, as she has an even easier time of keeping people injured.

While she would be slow, she WOULD be deadly and hated.
With 8 people who all want to stay healthy, you have people feeding you your power constantly.
So she would get much more value out of Corrupt Purge.
So while she may not end up excelling at keeping everyone injured, she would get a splendid supply of Corrupt Purge and people would likely complain.

I understand your points ladies an gents, and that was my gut feeling as well... in theory she looks busted, but when it'll come to practice, after seeing so many iterations of 2v8, I remain unconvinced...
I feel like her infection will struggle to spread far enough or fast enough to really put the Plague hammer down, unlike Legion her power doesn't really scale up (and Legion's power really scales up well). I have feeling the game will be running away from Killers before Plague really gets going, unless her teammate uber carries.
- Remember there are 13 gens, on a very big map, Plague is just gonna walk around infecting everything? What information is she gonna get really? Something vaguely behind her got touched?
- Things only remain infected for 40s donbear in mind, before she has done even half of it, infection will be wearing off. Walking around spitting on everything won't be as effective as we think.
- Also remember these gens only have 70 charges. If you're infected and haven't become sickened yet, you accumulate 2% infection per second repairing gens. That's 50s... the gen is almost down by the time you get infected. If 2 of you do it, you'll actually finish the gen before you get infected...
Now about Corrupt Purge:
- The ability is pretty scary, but if Plague is grabbing her purge, she isn't infecting things... and that means she needs to be cutting through swathes of Survivors... but she can't use it to guard hooks, to interrupt heals, she can't 3 gen, she can't tunnel, and in this mode she can't really slug either... all things that made Corrupt Purge really strong in 1v4.
- She's still 4.6, and she simply cant be everywhere... simply running apart is gonna mean she can't get the Plague train going... I don't see this ability putting the hammer down more than a triple Wesker, Nurse, Dracula, cracked Billy or cracked Oni.
As I said I don't think she'll be bad... (and survivors will obvioualy hate it because Lolstompz), but her power doesn't really scale up, the Survivors aren't limited to 5/7 gens, they need 8/13 gens so her infection reach is bad.
- If you're infected you accumulate 1% charge of sickness every second, that's 100s to become fully infected in chase... chases aren't anywhere near that long in 2v8, so her teammates game isn't really gonna benefit from all these mass injured Survivors like you would think.
Maybe during the the last couple of gens in a toght cluster she might start to shine and make a comeback, maybe if she hard focuses a central group of gens she might be good if Survivors don't try to break it... but even that with gens able to pop in just 30s is a big ask.
I think her startup is just too slow for Plague to be the powerhouse people think she will be in 2v8. Though I would stress, the same way I feel about Oni... I don't think Plague needs any buffs for the mode, at least not until we see how she really plays out...
But I think she is an interesting thought case.

I don’t even care about her strength. Just sounds… I will barely able to tolerate her, Dredge or Doc.
8 survivors constantly making annoying sounds? God please no….

See you say that about Oni but in a good team he always has power like 90 percent of the match, which is really oppressive, I have hundreds of hours in 2v8 at this point, I really don't think she'd be healthy for it.

True, I mean you're entitled to your opinion friend, I'm not trying to prove you wrong, cause until we see it, we cant know for sure... but as I say... there is a bit of a difference between Plague Corrupt Purge and Oni Demon Dash...
- Blood left all over the place in droves, as well as being inst granted after 2 m1s (easy to do in the cahos of 2v8), which blood can be supplemented by your teammate directly VS. having to walk all across the map to collect your fountain, and only a power only related to Plague, not supported by her teammate.
- 7.82m/s vs. 4.6m/s.
- Instadown off a relatively easy to hit, near unmindgamabale dash in 2v8 vs. a single injury spit blocked by line of sight that is still vulnerable to prethrowing pallets.
I mean this mobility factor I think can't be understated in 2v8, because look at the best killers in this mode vs. the worst ones.
Best: - Wesker Blight Hillbilly Oni Legion Wraith Nurse Dracula
Worst: Trapper Ghost Face Nemesis Pyramid Head Huntress Deathslinger
What's the common divide? It's mobility, slow killers can't get there to stop gens afar popping.... gens are super fast, you can't take the time to walk across map... so if you're slow, like Plague, you need a difference maker... and I'm not convinced her infection makes up enough of a difference between her time to infect/time to injure, and how she flings Survivors cross map to her furthest fountains.
I'm also not convinced her Corrupt Purge does either, because yes it's devastating in the 1v1... but she still has to walk across the map, she still has to contend with LOS blockers and limited range, and she still has to contend with 2 hits and all the escapists running around and prethrowing/respawning pallets.
She ain't gonna be bad, but I just can't see her outperforming Wraith, Wesker, Oni, Blight or Hillbilly. Not without some sizable 2v8 buffs to her infection at least.
