the pallet density update killed m1 killers
All these windows of opportunity survivors chaining pallets to pallets are getting on my nerves. Does bhvr really wants me to play S tier killers or what???

Yeah, it's absolutely nuts. Granted, some maps needed the extra pallets, but the blanket change was not it fam…
I have a few pallet shredding builds on my most-played killers, but it has become incredibly tedious.

They could've at the very LEAST gone with a Proximity spawning logic. e.g. if no pallet is within 24m of another pallet or vault location, spawn 1 small-mid pallet tile (not full jungle gyms, more like the throw away ones, or the long wall + short wall ones). At least that way, the map would get it's dead zones taken care of without being too cluttered up. The way they have it now, you can find 4 pallets easily within a single 24m radius, some even within 8m of each other or on the same tile!
Simply setting a proximity distance logic would've filled the gaps without overwhelming the maps with too many, and setting it at a distance like the 24m example, it would give the slower M1 killers a chance to still catch the survivor between tiles, but not guarantee it. I just don't understand how they thought their "Shotgun Spread" style Pallet RNG wouldn't pose major issues for the standard-low tier M1 killers, and force players to use only the killers with high mobility or anti-loop/anti-pallet abilities in order to compensate… I mean, I know it's been said many times, but "Do these devs even play their game?"

Lammpkin Lane needed pallets like no tomorrow, its so easy to burn through resources on that map it's not even funny… The Asylum map though? Yeah…as I said, a blanket change was not it.

Lammpkin lane was honestly not terrible if you knew the span logic of the pallets and knew which way the vault in main spawned early. Problem is randoms threw the pallets like they were candy and even in a swf i've seen people throw pallets when they did not need to. Sure i think the map needed to spawn maybe 3/4 more at all times. The amount now is beyond ridiculous though. I think last time i counted the map more than doubled them. I used to be able to tell you the exact locations before the change of pallet spawns since almost none of them changed minus a few back yard loops and the random indoor pallet changing spot.

I mean that is ultimately the problem when you have people throwing pallets all willy-nilly as though they just respawn. Which was proposed "fix" for depleting resources I saw in a thread a few years ago, then we got "party pallets" not long after I saw that suggestion so take that as you will.
But yeah, when I said it's easy to burn through pallets on Lampkin, I was referring to people who comp/pre drop the pallets, only for the killer to break it before it can be used in a chase.

So youre ignoring the other nerfs to crotus that went with this update (map size shrunk, jungle gym tiles nerfed, main buildings nerfed) and only focusing on pallets. So if we're reverting the pallet change we should revert all the other nerfs to the maps right?
0 -
Wasn't Crotus still considered a pretty good Survivor map even after the map size and tile adjustments due to the pallets it already had?
2 -
It was already shrunk previously and notoriously spawned awful 3 gens with 2 spawning in main and a 3rd right outside of main BEFORE they shrunk it again. And the garden area was always a near complete deadzone. There was nothing about it that needs multiple nerfs if the pallet changes are reversed.

Honestly, the pallet update has been driving me crazy while playing. I agree something needed to be done about the ridiculous number of dead zones on certain maps, but they went way overboard. Most survivors I face just drop every pallet they see and run straight to the next one because there are so many. I really hope they address this soon, because it’s making me want to stop playing.
5 -
There are also, notably, still deadzones.
5 -
Bhvr probably:understandable adds more to actually fill the deadzones but doesnt remove the ones they added before so every map becomes Gideon lol
2 -
I haven’t noticed this myself, probably because I don’t play as much as I used to. Either way, when they adjust the pallet density, I just hope they don’t end up making it worse than before or simply reverting it. I just want it to be somewhat balanced for both sides.
2 -
I think we've seen enough from BHVR to know that they are just gonna revert it and make maps have even fewer pallets than before.
11 -
the only answer is 100% hand crafted maps. maybe that's boring but you can't trust to get balance from rng

Yeah hope the changes from feedback come next patch or I'm considering a basekit brutal strength to help alleviate this mess

I see, I was mostly asking for myself because I couldn't remember it's general placement on the killer/survivor sided debates, I just remember people saying the map had PLENTY of pallets before the changes.
As far as those 3 gens go, that's definitely a gen spawn issue more so than a pallet issue. Really, gen locations on a few maps need looking at, I can think of a few 3 gen scenarios on other maps that even as killer make me think 'No, that's ridiculous'2 -
I think Mandy said they are due next patch at the soonest, which is good news.

so why am i watching people stream the game 4king with pig ?
-3 -
Its funny how I see this on twitch while commentating on this forum post but its very bad on borgo lol. I think its the closest ive seen outside of like the double pallets that can spawn on crotus.
3 -
depends on the streamer but most of them you'd be watching live off this game, obviously they're good this is their entire life. As someone who has a career where I'm required to touch grass, I'd rather play a walking simulator than a pallet breaking one.
2 -
That wouldn't surprise me at all.
2 -
I'm willing to bet we'll see a Dissolution nerf before they consider properly tuning pallet counts on maps.
1 -
Because there are a lot of really bad survivors.

I'd love to see what BHVR considers balanced. Could be quite funny.
-2 -
I get this argument from the M1 side, but what do we do about the pallet shredders or those that disregard pallets. There has to be a balance in this game and it's hard to do since not all killers have equal power. If they could increase density for some killers and reduce it for others, that could work?

This situation makes me grateful that map offerings aren't a thing anymore. I am hardly playing killer right now but thinking that 90% of my matches would in Crotus Pren would me make to never ever touch killer again.
Poor bait
If they revert pallet vaccum we would be playing a boosted version of 2018 DBD 🤣🤣

Shattered Square is a tough one because it used to spawn with about 1/3 of the map a deadzone. IMO it was because of the edge map tiles taking up the allocated pallet spawns. Comparatively, I watched Hens play on it before the pallet density update and he managed to get the massive deadzone spawn. I don't go on YouTube so not sure if he ever clipped it, but that map definitely needed a pallet overhaul. The devs just have a tendency to swing from one extreme to the next.
3 -
Why not do pallets based on the killer. If it's a strong killer, then add more pallets like how it is now. If it's an m1 killer - revert it back to how it was before.

I'm curious to know BHVR's kill/survival rate data since the change was made.
3 -
Exactly this. Give it a few more patches and it'll either be marginally better or worse than it was before the update.

I decided to play a killer game as the Houndmaster after about a month. Got RPD, found a survivor who was able to run from pallet to pallet and gain so much distance. There was a period of time where I was behind her and wasn't even entering chase for bloodlust. Eventually I downed her and it cost me 4 generators.
Now I could just be bad at the game. I'm certainly not great at it, but shouldn't SBMM take care of that and not match me with pc survivors who are that much better than me?
2 -
Unfortunately that just sounds like the average RPD experience. A LOT of safe pallets that you can just chain.
1 -
Ah yeah… if we go with that logic I will try to explain it.
Why does a professional Chess player win vs children? Mhhh maybe if we let him play without the queen.
Damn he still wins… lets take his rooks aswell…
S*** he still wins vs the first timers… so he is only allowed to play with the King.
Finally we balanced this player who plays all day out so others which play for the first time can win.
Now he goes to the grand final of the Chess World Champion Chip with his handicap and… lol he lost in 4 moves. How could this happen?
With your logic applied here… I saw survivors on stream escape Ghoul. Better we buff him cause I saw it in one game.
Yeah next…
-1 -
I don't believe RPD was part of the pallet density update
5 -
so there it is… people want buffs to m1 killers because they arent as good as they want to be, because they dont have as much time in the game as people who stream. its almost as if to be good you have to put the work in. you cant just say "oh i dont play as much so i think i should be handed unnecessarily strong killers because i dont have enough time to get good"
