Dear Mandy
In todays stream, you mentioned in the survey that just over a little of 70% of people wanted 2v8 extended.
Can I ask why this metric is at all used to consider when extending a mode when;
1) It's an Asym, survivors make up 80% of a lobby. Using this as a metric, completely ignores killer players. Who were the most vocal about it NOT being extended.
2) Do you consider the affect the 2v8 events have on killer content creators, especially those in your content creator program. 3 weeks is a long time to have content stifled due to queue times, especially with no accurate time to resume content creation as a killer player.
3) Do you even consider less populated region servers that suffer the most with queue times being 5-15 minutes for base game mode as killer and 30 minute for 2v8, and how 3 weeks is a long time to have queue times that long?
4) Is the received number of responses on the survey a good sample size to be representative of the actual player base considering different regions are affected by queue times differently / have different experiences with Dead by Daylight 2v8?
5) Can also be botted by people who want 2v8 to stay
6) At the bare minimum can you please stop extending and provide an accurate date of it ACTUALLY ending or again at the bare minimum, not decide to extend it 3 hours before the event ending, again something that affects killer content creators.
7) On the flip side, why has events such as Bloodmoon, or the Anniversary event never been extended which I guarantee would be more popular than 2v8 across the board, or why do you not do more blood hunt events, or even extend those consistently? If your metric for extension is if the player base wants it? Why has Chaos Shuffle only been extended once when it's just as popular and doesn't affect queue times?
While I understand the mode is fun for survivors 'cause the game is a baby casual mode, any killer only player full on DREADS this event coming back because it's usually, without fail, a 2 week event with a hidden 1 week extension, most take a complete break from the game during this time, or the brave ones, will sit through 30minute queues to enjoy the mode.
Killer Only players may only be minority to you, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't consider the impact it has on their experience within Dead by Daylight.
Thank you.

I mean sorry, but when it comes to the "metrics" killer queues are slow anyways, why would stopping 2v8 have anything to do with that.

Whether you frequent forum members like it or not, the majority usually rules all.

Killer queues are not usually slow when the mode isn't here, even with two 1v4 modes, the queue times aren't super effected. When 2v8 is here it's a 500%-3000% increase in queue times.
It makes killer queue times go from <1min to 5-15 minutes depending on region and how long the mode has been out for, that is for 1v4. Makes killer content creation very hard in terms of retaining viewers, as you are just sat in a queue creating a lot of dead air moments gameplay wise.
Queue times in 2v8 are 30 minutes, making the mode damn near unplayable if you have a life and can't sit at your desk for 2 hours to have a few games of DBD.
I 100% understand its a popular mode, and love that survivors get to enjoy it, but I think also understanding how it affects killer players should be considered and at least keep the 2v8 event to a consistent 2 week event ( I would prefer shorter, but I get its popular) with no extensions.2 -
Shouldn't be the way decisions are made in a ASYMETRICAL game when said decisions adversely affect the minority role in a community of us vs thems. Even so, this clearly isn't the case when other popular event modes have never been extended.

It's the way decisions are made all around the world. Rigged or otherwise. Everyone is different. Acceptance comes much later for some than others, but it always comes.

Like I just edited, they don't consistently use 'majority rules' so that point is completely invalid in this discussion.
2 -
Oh no, not the content creators 😢

Don't have to consistently do it. Majority isn't consistent either. That's why i used the word "usually" in my original post. I mean your the one that has to come to terms with it. Not me. Enjoy that journey.

I've uninstalled so I don't actually care, and unless your name was Mandy, wasn't asking for a response or your input anyway. So enjoy the journey coming to terms with that.

That's nice, the queues are always longer than survivors as I said even when 2v8 isn't on more often than not. I used to play when killer queue times were short pre 6.1.0 and Survivor queue times were longer. We are not at 1-5min+ survivor queues atm, nor will we ever be in the current climate of DBD lol
it's usually absoloute peak hour when it does shift to more respectable killer queues at the weekends, coz people are playing with their friends, as that's when I usually play killer as I prefer the shorter queues.
Killer is just the lesser in demand role, that's how it is recently. Also to add killer barely ever gets bonus either lol if at all1 -
it is no big secret now that the casual players are the ones who spend more money too, especially how 70% want an extention, not hard to assume that is the casual players. the "dedicated try hards" dont spend money always boasting how bad the game is and no longer supporting so on so on.

Ya'll seem to think this is some hate on 2v8 when I'm asking question surrounded their decisions to extend this vs not on others. Casuals spend money and dictate events being extending, sure lets roll with that thesis.
So why was the blood hunt we just had not extended, why is blood moon event not extended, why was the ani event not extended, etc…
If you're going to use a metric to justify extensions, at least be consistent.0 -
again doesnt matter about x2 x3 bp when its 1v4. when killers are ruining their experience. casual players choose 2v8 for a reason and its fun especially for killer when we sitting on a 5-15minute queue

If you've uninstalled and don't care why are you complaining about a temporary event that's having no affect on you?
Enjoy the journey of learning that forums aren't for you setting up personal soapboxes. It's crazy, I know, but people are able to respond.

Asking for clarity on how decisions are made, and if the metric they used is accurate and if any consideration is made on how it affects killer players, is not complaining. Holy F.
I'm glad the 2v8 exists and people get to enjoy it.
And yes I have actually uninstalled, but I'm also curious, and wanted an actual constructive answer that gives insight to my questions, which anyone of you have yet to provide. My bad thinking the forums would actually have a discussion and provide intelligent and valuable feedback to my curiosity. Instead of 'cope, L OP'-1 -
If this is the case, from a business standpoint.
1) Why isn't it permanent or 2) Why is it not the base mode and remove 1v40 -
Blood hunt events can be active during 2v8, so that point is also invalid, why was that not throughout the whole event, furthermore why was the last one not X2 or X3 to keep people playing. Even if people hate 1v4 over 2v8, I guarantee nobody is voting no to a Blood Hunt extension. I just don't understand the inconsistency of extensions I guess, when using a popularity metric that isn't be applied across the board in the same way.

My bad thinking the forums would actually have a discussion and provide intelligent and valuable feedback to my curiosity. This doesn't square with your earlier statement of:
I've uninstalled so I don't actually care, and unless your name was Mandy, wasn't asking for a response or your input anyway.2 -
Don't worry I'll be here watching. Name includes the word depressed? Hmmm.

Okay, here: you tinting this whole line of questioning by implying survivors get to dictate the direction of things because they're the majority is soaked in bias. In my observations, despite killer-only players being extremely loud, they're also very rare. Most people play the whole game. So it isn't survivors vs killers as much as you want it to be. Many killer-players also like 2v8 because it's the only time they can play killer with a friend. "But content creators" isn't a reason to stop something. I don't like 2v8 or what it does to the 1v4 matchmaking, but it's here because many regular, normal, average, casual players enjoy it and they absolutely should trump the desires of killer-onlys and content creators.

Still doesn't answer anything I'm asking, but appreciate the more in depth input.

I don't really play DBD at all when 2v8 is on, purely because it affects my 1v4 queue times. But it's only, what, 3 weeks now? I've just been catching up on other games instead. I don't think it's that big a deal.
1 -
Because queues in general are worse because this gamemode exists at the same time as 1v4. And since it's gotten extended, people who want to play killer in either modes have to wait ages to find a match now. Not saying one should exist at a time, but it causes issues for people who want to play 1v4 killer and even survivor too, since MMR is very inaccurate when so many usuals who'd be in your lobby are playing 2v8 instead.
