Adjusted Tiles Post 9.3.0

They just listen to those who complain most and obey every pathetic braindead demand they make.
We need old BHVR back, the BHVR that did what they saw as best without sifting through the swamp of biased people and attempting to appease everyone.
I really appreciate that BHVR is trying to listen, but I think they listen way too much.

we need a mix of current and old bhvr. some changes they try to implement absolutely need the feedback addressed but other times they need to just man up and keep their original work. fog vials, 9.3 pallet density, 9.3 ptb anti slug, post 8.3 skull merchant etc. are all examples of bhvr listening to too much negative feedback and implementing changes based solely off that negative feedback.

The pallet density remains high, but the loop's safety has changed significantly. You should focus more than ever on either extending the distance per lap by utilizing connections between pallets and windows, or skillfully directing pallets to hit the Killer directly.
Previously, some maps allowed for a 5gen chase just by mindlessly touring the pallets, but such easy games are no longer possible going forward.
PS. Is Disturbed Ward's main building bugged? I encountered instances where 6 pallets spawned and others where only 2 spawned.

lol .. what the hell ? DEVS only trying to please killer mains and they're making this game unplayable now for survivors
sad to see this game die .. please change the current devs team and replace them with team that care about both sides .. because if u dont .. no body will play this game anymore14 -
After seeing the pallet density for myself in game after work and all these screen shots this is horrible. Devs can't ever find a middle ground with anything it's always blown out of proportion one way. The last 2 months had way too many pallets making M1 killer useless and now it's either way too few or they're too unsafe making the M1 killers better and the strongest killers becomes far more oppressive. Even though i prefer to play killer i have to agree with survivors this is over kill.
Since it's flipped now i'll stick to the weaker M1 killers like SM since she's just got an update and avoid the stronger killers i usually play or play survivor for the BP bonus.

"Pallet density remains high"

skillfully directing pallets to hit the Killer directly.
And what skill shall the killer be focusing on?
Previously, some maps allowed for a 5gen chase just by mindlessly touring the pallets
If you let yourself be lead arund like this that's on you. Learn when to drop chase.

Yeah this is some bull.
The pallet density changes were needed on some maps, but they gave it to every map. Now we are left with some of the most unsafe loops I have ever seen.
As killer this doesn't even look fun. I enjoy the whole 'mind game' part at pallets and loops, but I don't see any place where I need to do so.

You are spot on with your post here. I wish BHVR would listen way less than they currently do, because they seem to listen, but not really process what they are listening to. Back then people complained that BHVR would not listen and back then they already listend, they just did not blindly follow the biggest complainers.
If we just look at what happened in the past months, it is honestly a Joke:
They tried to implement meaningful Anti-Tunnel and Anti-Slugging changes TWICE. They pulled it back both times because people complained massively and brainlessly. The right solution would have been to push the initial changes to Live with punishments for tunneling and benefits (not just BPs, but actual gameplay-benefits) for not tunneling. And then work from there, like reducing the punishments if needed and/or increasing the benefits - but this only works if people can actually play under those changes and adapt to them. And basically all what was left from all of this was a Nerf to OTR (a Perk which did not need a Nerf in the first place, even tho this is a minor issue since 40 seconds is still long, but still a Nerf) and 5 seconds of extra Haste after Unhook.
They implemented Fog Vials as a new Item and instead of just letting people play with them for a bit and see if they are actually problematic or Killers would just need to get used to them and new-toy syndrom wearing off, they butchered the new Survivor Item basically immediatly and now nobody is using Fog Vials at all. And since they also managed to nerf Keys and Maps in the same Patch (imagine making the worst Items on the Survivor Side even worse), this resulted in:
- Chests now even being less viable to open so that even more Survivors will just stick to Gens, since you get more garbage in Chests now
- A fun and balanced Perk like Dramaturgy being worse because you can now get more garbage
- And the Bloodweb cluttered with even more Junk than before, while the Survivor Bloodweb actually NEEDS an overhaul because there is so much useless stuff in it on top of the sheer amount of different Bloodweb Items (that they also nerfed Syringes recently on top of that… Some people call it a Buff, but it is obviously a Nerf since healing over time is stronger than getting rid of Exhaustion, the only difference is that with the latter you actually see it happening as Killer, while healing over time was not something you would usually notice)
And last but not least the Pallet Density Update - SOME Maps had Deadzones and those Deadzones NEEDED to be addressed. But other maps which were completely fine also got changed - they added a load of Pallets but also nerfed the Tiles themselves making them weaker or removed some Windows from Main Buildings or some Breakable Walls. But instead of just reverting it to the previous state (which BHVR btw. NEVER does, whenever they messed up, they try to make it better just to make it worse… In German we have a word for it "verschlimmbessern") for most maps and only keeping it for the Maps where it was actually needed (e.g. Haddonfield, some Coldwind Maps), they did a complete 180 and further nerfed the Tiles AND removed Pallets again so that in the end it is worse than before.
And obviously they did listen here again - if you look at their Polls, aside from Haddonfield it was said on all of them that the Maps would benefit Survivors, so they listened and made it completely killer-sided.
The worst part - you will not even see more M1-Killers which people claimed were weakened by it, because why would anyone want to play a M1-Killer like Trapper if they have access to so many far stronger Killers which are also easy to play? But now those strong Killers dont even need to bother with that many Pallets anymore, since most can be easily mindgamed and are not 50/50 but rather 75/25 or so at this point.
I am honestly sick and tired of BHVRs kneejerk reactions all the time. Those three things I mentioned were done in WEEKS after introduction or announcement of a feature because people complained massively. But instead of just bringing it to Live and see from there, they listened to the loud complainers and immediatly took action. It must be so frustrating to work at BHVR to create something, just for the person in charge to come back to you in two weeks to change it completely what you have been worked on before.
And the "best" part about all of that is that DBD is now in a worse state than last year at this time - when they asked us to vote for labor of love (LOL is fitting here…) and AFTER they "Operation Health"-campaign AND with actual content updates delayed because of all of that.
Sorry for using your post for my rant, but you were 100% right with this post and it was just fitting to put it here. Usually in Surveys (except the last one) they ask how likely it is to recommend DBD to a friend and if they would have put the question in a Survey, I would have hit a big 0 on that one.

Pretty much spot on with how I'm seeing this so far.
Who asked for this? If I recall most of us wanted a pallet reduction, not a pallet extinction. And why wasn't this tested in the PTB that's, you know, for testing?5 -
100% agree

i dont consider myself a survivor main, but yes ive already pretty much quit. if i do get on its for 2-3 games tops and then i remember the game is miserable no matter which side im trying to play. when there were too many pallets, killer was unplayable, but even switching to survivor sucked because the huge disparity of teammates you get is laughable. how do i get one teammate with 4-8k and another with 100-500 hours??? ive been on ONCE since this recent update, saw absolutely nothing worth wasting my time and got back off. im a person who is easy to please as well, like just give me new cosmetics for any of the characters i play (which is alot of them) and ill endure whatever misery. but the cosmetic drought has been brutal these past couple of months too. I wll be spending my money elsewhere. why do our newest characters still not have anything new??? why even make new characters if youre not gonna show them any kind of love in the cosmetic department (orela, taurie, vee, krasue). why do they encourage us vs them arguments that the majority of us are absolutely sick and TIRED of seeing. why do they even make changes based on this forum's doom posters when they're literally less than 1% of their total player base??? why are all of their changes always such a dramatic swap from one extreme to another??? i could go on, the questions never get answered. anyway, thats my one comment of the season, gonna go back to my hole until the next blue moon i guess.

It looks like they reverted to the wrong map version on many of these. A lot of these tiles look like bug regressions, and they've historically struggled with version control. Now, as to how they failed to catch it before going live... I don't know.

Excellent post, I wanted to focus on one thing:
They pulled it back both times because people complained massively and brainlessly.I think the brainlessly is spot on. It's also normal, but in the past BHVR was able to push back.
We had lots of 'survivors will exploit the AFC…somehow', but my favorite was the 3-gen mechanic. We had people posting 'what if I kick a gen with eruption, I have surge, then I down three survivors in a row, I only have three kicks left!' type posts. But you've won, what does it matter?
Actually, here are two posts, and in general good threads, were BHVR was willing to actually push back on the more out there takes (also good reminders of some of the doomsaying that existed around the 3 gen mechanic that never came to be and BHVR should have kept in mind when looking at anti-tunnel 'feedback')
I really think they need to get back to this. Take feedback, sure, but if the feedback is 'brainless', if the fears players are stating don't make any sense, then ignore them and improve the game.

Can we PLEASE stop this trend of putting in a horribly overbearing change and then going too far the other way in an attempt to balance it?
2 -
Over-buffing/over-nerfing really has to stop.
Smaller changes could work so much better. Incremental, not huge chunks at a time.I had a feeling that the changed syringes would become problematic, especially for players who knows how to use and abuse Sprint Burst to its maximum potential. It was a certain buff to high MMR or comp survivors, but a nerf for the average or solo queue player (who might not use Exhaustion at all). I warned about this exact thing when the changes were still being tested on the PTB, and here we are.
Same for pallets. I somehow knew that they would nerf the loop tiles instead of reducing the number of pallet spawns.
Now, you have a ton of unsafe fillers, and so many edge tiles that you will end up in a lose/lose scenario, no matter how well you play them.
A decent middleground would have been to keep the stronger tiles, but reduced the amount of pallets on the most offensive maps, such as the case with Mother's Dwelling, the Asylum, Ormond and the MacMillan maps, and also tweaked the spawn logic to better spread out the pallet tiles, so that deadzones were non-existent at the beginning of the match.3 -
Peanits was good at pushing back. I miss his forum presence.

Not every loop or pallet is going to be safe. It should be a mix of good and bad and knowing which ones are which. I sure someone can go around a picture every strong loop as a counter to this.
Ideally the quantity of good and bad loops need to be taken as a whole not individual screenshots painting a one sided story.
-10 -
Why they had to create chaos changing many maps that didn't need to change to create an even bigger chaos with the "fix" to those changes? WHY?
I had my best matches on Mac Millan maps, specially on Coal Tower. Why they are just throwing years of their work for nothing? "Fixing" what didn't need a fix and now we have a gigantic problem.

pallet breaking build with corrupt with a low timer. i don't believe these screenshots
-8 -
Are you calling me a liar?
7 -
yes
-10 -
And the others? Them as well?
6 -
hyena's is honest and i believe them and for your original 2 screenshots you don't have zanshin
-8 -
As I said, they arent mine.
5 -
Just spawned in with Billy. No perks except for Zanshin and bump addons. Haven't even used the saw yet, as you can see. No pallets broken, no chases started.
11 -
i believe you
-3 -
No problem.
These sledgehammer solutions are really infuriating for most of us.
2 -
I saw this goofy thing for myself. Killer couldn't believe it either.
7 -
From my POV, it looks rather silly. BHVR, please fix :)
Thankfully, the Bubba was just as baffled as we were, and he was being cool with us.3 -
I think the developers believe they did an excellent job and don't want to post on the forum to apologize or anything for releasing one of the worst patches in their history.
5 -
My summary of the patches.
9.1.0 - The Walking Dead. Introduced a slew of bugs, including everyone's favorite; Jim the Beam. Introduced Fog Vials, and the rapid nerf into oblivion. Broke Streetwise to the point where you could get unlimited item charges by swapping in chests.
9.2.0 - Sinister Grace. Supposed to be the anti-tunnel/anti-slug patch. Came out with the most overpowered killer release ever instead, after enormous backlash from content creators surrounding the anti-tunnel PTB. And of course, the massive increase to pallet density, that created ultra-strong loops on certain maps.
9.3.0 - Mid Chapter - Where are the pallets? - Also massively reduced after backlash from content creators, saying that the original idea would "kill" the killer role.Pretty much every patch from the Walking Dead patch has been divisive and not very healthy overall.
Some good things has happened though, like the customizable scratch marks colors. But none of these patches has actually done anything to help either side in a balanced way. It has gone from one extreme to another, like the pallet density patch, to the "gut all loops" patch.
Also, Deathslinger still has broken animations.10 -
I ws excited to play some killer when 9.3.0 dropped, but I'm too damn hanged on FFVII Rebirth to stop.
I really would still take a couple hours on Tuesday to play, but after seeing the new QoL pallet update IN REVERSE I gave up.
I don't want a easy win, so I'm not wasting my time until (probably) 9.4.0 mainly because that's when this crap will probably be fixed.0
