Hag and her underdevelouped lore
Out of every killer in the game, I think the playerbase can collectively agree that the most underdevelouped and poorly handled killer is Hag. Simplistic and vague backstory has never been fleshed out upon ever beyond a very VERY bad tome story. What glimpses of intrigue due exist can be confusing or very unclear, and not in a good way like The Unknown or something.
As a Hag main and someone who cares a lot about the lore this always bugs the hell out of me. It is a very odd specific instance of a character seemingly tossed to the wayside with no proper develoupment.
Any thoughts on this? Am I the only one who is bothered by this?

Hag's lore isn't great but I don't think she's the most poorly handled. I'd give that award to Artist's lore.

Let me guess, you haven't read the additional tome lores of the character and are solely judging her lore purely based on her base lore alone.

I've read all of the Tomes bar the stuff they released over the past couple of weeks, thank you. No need to come in swinging.

I agree. Her Tome should get a do-over.

I really don't think that is a realistic possibility. It would be better make a new tome story.
That said, I think the good way of going about it would be telling a story that takes place in her past building similar to Trapper or Wraith. Something building up to what they became, generally reinforcing ideas, or establishing new themes that build upon the character.
Trapper's story is about a bright and supportive young man who values those close to him changing into someone who enjoys dominating, controlling, and applying pain to other people. It expands upon his backstory in a way that makes him a lot more interesting and even ties into his playstyle. all the while leaving the mysterious backstory from his bio still mysterious. Wraith's a story of a young child living under oppression and fear during a real life historical conflict, of which (in the context of the story) resulted in everyone the boy ever knew being slaughtered out of racism and nationalism as he underground beneath them and him taking out his suffering through gruesome murder of who wronged him. Gruesome murder by burning the soldiers alive in their sleep. Expands upon his theme of people oppressed by others and a situation of his control leading to a growing darkness and hatred. Also tying into his in-game ability of killing survivors while they are unaware of his presence, and fleshing out the history of the sort of life he came from beyond the immediate backstory from his bio. Hag would probably benefit from something similar.
Tell a story from her village. Perhaps expand upon her character with themes of paranoia, mystery, and suspicion inside a quiet little village. Add on to the theme of fear and desperation from her bio. Build upon the mysteriousness of the cannibals are treated with in the flavor text in her addons and some of her cosmetics, and/or upon the very consistent theme from her cosmetic flavor text of the loss of what her life could have been had it not been taken from her. Perhaps she was a bright and promising young girl in a quiet village with a hidden and mysterious evil lurking within it waiting to take it all away. Just throwing out ideas here.0 -
One of the advantages of the new system, I think, is that they can deliver Tomes that AREN'T necessarily connected to the Rift. Trapper, for instance, didn't have a cosmetics or banners in this Rift, but he got a story about how Evan came to the Fog and ultimately chose to embrace being the Trapper after symbolically killing his abusive father.
So if we want a new Hag story, I think we just need to put some pressure on BHVR.
