Should Killers Get The Time Penalty?
So I was wondering.
Why do we get punished for leaving games as killers?
If I get chain flashlighted in the first few minutes then sabo hooks, body block and all of that because all 4 of them are running around you instead of doing gens, I do not want to play that game.
Even if you just afk they'll take 45 minutes just to click and tbag (I've tried).
When the killer leaves, the bully squad "wins" so they get their ego fix and you don't have to endure. So why exactly do we get punished?
When a survivor leaves, I get it, it throws the whole team off. But this?

I could be wrong as I haven't played in a long time but I thought after 10 minutes, if gens haven't been worked on, the killer could abandon the match? It counts as a loss if I remember or it may have only been in a ptb for all I know.

If a killer decides fo DC it ends the whole match ends and everyone is sent back to the lobby to que back up, so yes they should get a penalty.
You could same same for surviour side tho
"If i get downed in the first few minutes then tunneled, proxy camped and all of that, i do not want to play the game"

yeah if a gen doesn't get done in 10 minutes you can dc not just worked on.

Because if killers were allowed to leave a match for free, they would leave any time one little thing doesn’t go their way and survivors would literally never be able to complete a match unless the killer was stomping them to a 4K.
There are plenty of ways to counter “bully squads”. I’ve done it plenty of time myself. And honestly, there types of teams are so rare in my experience it’s not really an issue.4 -
Oh ok ty. That's good to know that it has to be completed and not just touched.

Killers used to be made of sterner stuff...
Survivors too in fact...
Personally I feel like facing bully squads is a right of passage. Playing multiple Pig games fighting a full sabo/flashlight squads, if you're still being able to accept a Snoot Boop after that... you've officially made it in my book. ^🐽<

You can't just leave because you don't like what your opponents are doing. If you're somehow having this problem regularly, bring Lightborn. Learn to read people's perks. If they're playing aggressive with Boil Over or Breakdown than slug them. Unbreakable only works once. Totems can be snuffed. Learning to manage these situations is very satisfying.

Just keep in mind IIRC gen regression events reset that timer, so kicks or popping pain res or anything like that would extend those situations.
All of this applies to survivor gameplay as well, yet we're at the point where getting picked up 3 times allows you to leave. That isn't to say you're wrong, and its very good advice.
This is why concepts like abandoning are so hard to manage for the killer role. It's load bearing for the entire match, while survivors are elimination based. Killer centric approaches to alleviating these problems need to work within the game itself more than around prematurely ending it.

I'll tell you what I see aspiring killer main...

I would say that's fine. If those things are happening then people are either working on gens for the killer to kick or the killer is getting downs and hooks.
I was just talking about this movie to someone at work a few days ago. Been long time since I've watched it lol.

I mostly mention it because if you get bored and flex your "agency" by kicking a gen, you reset the timer. Its important to note in case you ever find yourself in a situation where it applies, since I don't believe there is any in game indication for the timer. Would hate to see someone waiting 9 minutes only to throw another 10 on top by mistake. Or maybe they would to waste the survivors time and we'll have a mini version of the hatch standoff back. Either way, how it was implemented isn't particularly intuitive, so anyone in that situation should stick strictly to breaking pallets and doorways if no gens have finished/regressed in a while unless they want to prolong the game.

I play other competitive games where you can basically forfeit any time you want (after a certain amount of time has elapsed) and people don't just DC constantly, ruining matches, even when it's a blowout. I think killers should be able to "Abandon" for free in the EGC, for example.
Should we punish the killer for going AFK, too? That's allowed, and it's LITERALLY no different from letting them DC, except that the killer player gets annoyed. What do you gain from annoying someone?
And what survivor is getting salty from a free win??? And why should we cater to those people anyway?

Just let killers be able to abandon when the last gen pops
