New Game Mode
Dead by Daylight has changed so much just from the 4 years I have played alone. I feel like the game has lost its horror identity, where it's nothing more than just another multiplayer game filled with goofy cosmetics and trolling. And not that I have a problem with that, I just think there should be a game mode where the game is stripped completely to its core. Maybe it's not as scary anymore for someone like me because I played it so much, and I know better. But just imagine Dead by Daylight in its rawest form, becoming more than just competitive gameplay; it's an experience.
Survival Mode: No perks (both sides), no add-ons, no crazy items (just somthing basic like a medkit), pallets and windows can still be used, and just a rework on some maps or even new ones where you feel like you are playing Outlast or Silent Hill. Also, I think it should only have M1 killers and/or original DBD characters.
What are your thoughts about this?

We had a rotating game mode like this called Lights Out.
No perks, add-ons etc. And everything was pitch black outside of a 16 meter radius.
There was no HUD even, so you went in completely in the dark.12 -
I wish they'd bring this mode back. I miss it.

They would have it did well. Unfortunately it didn't so we'll likely not see the mode for a long time unless there's mass demand for it which of course there isn't

As I remember right…
Most people hated Lights out because you could have been forgotten on hook. Or worse slugged and no one was coming for you.

Think about it like this: you go to a haunted house attraction at a carnival. The characters are scary, the atmosphere is creepy and you’re genuinely spooked. But if you keep going back, you’re never going to be as immersed as you were the first time. Sure, the costumes and the furniture and the ambient music might change around, and you might go with different people, but the house itself and the rules of the ride are fundamentally the same, and you’ll start to recognise the actors under the makeup, or the sound of the machinery underneath the floorboards. And sometimes one of the monsters faints from heat exhaustion, or one of the people you went in with starts a fight or has a panic attack and everyone has to break character. After 4 years, you won’t be scared in the slightest, and it’d be understandable if you got bored or stopped going.
If you only see DBD as a horror game, and not a pvp game with horror flavour, it’s never going to have the same longevity for you that others have found in it.

Yeah it is kinda like Phasmophobia.
It was scary at the start for me. But it lost all his horror the moment I died. Because I got the "Well that happens".

The thing about horror games is that they're really only "horror" for the first playthrough, or in this case, the first 5-10 hours of playing. After you know what to expect, the horror is gone.

Feel dissapointed I missed Lights Out. Know it was problematic in few aspects, but I don’t mind game turning to some survivoval mode.
I remember how one day I played some custom with close concept. It was like extreme Hide and SeekYou have to choose stealth killer on Midwich, survivor also choose stealth builds. Aura read is forbidden except addons, but there are a really an important condition — survivors must to play on the low gamma. Basically it was some kind of build up horror when you crouch around map and hiding in corners, while some Dredge with Lavalier Microphone looking for you.
There are no point in doing gens. Only one hook stage. Tho I really dislike when killer role more pushed to PvE and it forced to entertain others, in this case I didn't mind. Everyone tried their best to scare other, and we had some really funny “blind loops”.Some short hide and seek event wouldn't harm this game. Just create system that prevents making this matches too long. It's not really bad to give some piece of extra stealth for casual mode, as turn out making game around some 1 vs 1 vs 1 vs 1.

I just wish for them to bring Prop Hunt to the main game now that DBD Mobile is long gone.

I wish they'd add the cosmetics from mobile too. They'd make a mint on those cat maid/butler outfits.

I've had a hide and seek mode idea in mind for a while, here it is:
• Salvage the old Lights Out, with the darkness, the fog, the lack of information, ect. Make it into a pure hide and seek gamemode, without gens. All survivors can be moried after a single down.
• There is a timer slowly ticking down. Survivors can progress it by searching chests for Candelabras/Lanterns and bringing them to dedicated spots on the map, shortening the timer at the cost of revealing themselves.

The primary problem with lights out is people abused things like camping so noone could see where u were, so last time they made the anticamp range wider, didnt do much because the next thing that was abused was just auto downing people with chainsaw killers where you cant see or hear them until you are locked in slapping range with an unavoidable instant down. The premise of it being scarier was fun but the gameplay of it made it not fun. Then there was also dredges darkness coupling with the alredy pitch black game mode lol.
A base game mode where everything is disabled and no m2 killers would be interesting for a bit. Then i think people would either miss their perks or miss their main killers and would want to go back to the main game. But it would be enjoyable like playing world of warcraft classic before they added half the expansions again.

same. I just hope next time bhvr stands up and puts their foot down by telling doc and Legion players to enjoy the handicap or play someone else. their powers by design should not function in that mode.

Yeah it needs more limitations on available killers and their abilities, like reverse 2v8, and some adjustments to help with stuff like saving. It's absolutely a salvageable idea, it just needs a little work.

even when you know what to expect, it doesnt take away the horror element. i know what to expect when v myers or pig but the jump scares and tense feeling on the gen are still there even after about 3k hours. in door maps are the best for this. The horror and fear element has been taken away by speedy killers like blight and the scooby doo loops around a pallet like a comedy sketch

I wouldn't count jump scares and stealth killers as "horror". You don't know where they are but that's about it, there isn't anything actually "scary" about that. The same way I don't think turning a corner around a wall or building in real life, and getting momentarily spooked by walking into someone else that was also turning that corner, isn't horror or scary. It was just a moment of unexpected interaction

Tbh that mode favored killer way more but what was nice was the fact that most of strongest killers were bad to play as there like blight, nurse and now I would say even ghoul then killers with tracking were great like dracula as wolf, legion, doctor and stealth to like ghostface or wraith but fact is that mode was uniqe and I would like to experience it again.
There were other mods like 2v8 or chaos shuffle that are popular but even more limitedlike my little oni or what it was called where survivors vere small and killer was titan size oni, then there are events but most of them doesnt change the core of gameplay from 1v4 with gens or mostly doesnt bring anything new thats huge. For me last was blood moon 2025 and that event with blood gens was heaven for survivors and true hell for pig plus it broke all hooks leaving them angled till these days.

im curious what you would consider "horror" and "scary"… if its not jump scares and the unknown of where the killer is then what would be considered horror?
