How Does Everyone Feel About The Ormond-Mine Map-Showcase?
DBD introduced map-specific queues for Fazbear's and now for Ormond (first Cabin and now the Mine). How does everyone feel about this different queue? It's nice to go to a specific map to learn and practice on them. Killers like Ghostie can utilize learning maps to get good stalking locations, for example. Survivors can learn pathing from pallets, window, ect. (I recently found a new pathing from the stairs in main to the window up that I hadn't put two and two together on, something that would have taken me ages if not for repeatedly playing on the one map).
What would it be like to have a Week Long Map Showcase for 1 out of the 40 maps every week? Could it have unique aspects, like maybe seeing more of certain types of killers or perks in play? Is there benefit for having Map-Specific queues with rotating maps every week for a short while?
What have other people experienced on the Ormond-Mine Map Showcase?

I like it because it garantees a balanced map for both sides.

I actually agree. The map seems fairly balanced with the weakest part being near the tower to the left of main. I quite like the map itself as well, small but in a good way.

That's really interesting. I'm curious to know if you've seen more Killer variety in this queue than in normal queue? I've seen a Bubba, Skull Merchant, Plague, Oni, Nemesis, and Knight. I rarely see some of these characters in normal queue.
And none of my teammates DCed in like 8 different matches.

Never really thought about the map to much but now the more I play on it the more I like it.
It's actually a decent map.. for once.

I wouldn't mind if BHVR extended the Ormond Lake Mine queue for the entire duration of Bone Chill.
I genuinely can't get enough of the map, it might be my new favorite. 🤗🏔️🪝

I don’t like it when something like that splits the queue and subsequently makes queue times worse. It’s okay for like a few days but it wears out its welcome pretty fast.

I'm against splitting the queues for no good reason. It's been proven to me time and time again that DBD doesn't really have the player base to support more than one queue.
I don't understand why BHVR don't just up the chances of getting an Ormond map for the duration of the Winter event if they want more players to experience it. There's no need for a separate queue. And if the point is to give Survivors an opportunity to explore different maps, then give us a Trapper bot for every realm and let us practice in custom games without the pressures of a real trial instead.

I appreciate that there's feedback on both sides of the topic in here. I just wanted to pop in to confirm that I'm passing along your thoughts to the team.

I think the Map Showcase is fine. I like the Ormond Lake Mine Map, it is one of the best Maps in the game. However, I dont really play the Map Showcase, simply because I like the randomness of DBD and therefore dont really like if I have a guaranteed map I will play on. (Which is why I also almost never used Map Offerings outside of Challenges or very specific Builds)
However, I like Map Showcases more than increased rates of getting the Maps in the random queue. A few month ago they randomly increased the likelyhood of getting certain Maps (RPD, Badham, Haddonfield, Lerys, The Game, Dead Dawg I think). And this was not really great.
However, if they want to do this in a separate queue, I would be all up for that. Then people who actually like those maps can play them. E.g. they can do a week of all the Maps which were released in 2019 and then you would have a separate queue which will only feature those Maps. And people who enjoy those can play this and get their favorite maps.

I don't see the point of a map showcase and likely won't ever bother with it. Im fine with playing on random maps as u get quickly bored of anything if in play the same thing for even just a few hours.
HOWEVER, if it's a map that has an achievement tied to it such as The Walking Dead map or any other map that requires to repair a specific gen and escape or RPD since it's map achievement it the worst in the game to get then I works definitely see myself and lot more others playing the map show case to get that achievement.

I hadn’t even thought about map-specific achievements but that’s so true.

I shared my thoughts on this elsewhere, but I would like to give them again here as well.
While the concerns for a split queue are valid, the actual performance on either side doesn't seem nearly as bad as when the 2v8 stuff was going on. Things seem decently fast in regular and map showcase for this one at least to my own personal experience.
If they had a survey for each map at the end of the week, they could get some player thoughts on each map and get some data on what the general map balance may be like and what would need improved. Aside from that, it really does allow me to better practice in these maps and try out loadouts that are more dependent on what I go into. When playing survivor, I was going against much more varied killers.
And there is the aspect of the achievements being easier to target during these times. Much more opportunities to give an attempt at repairing those key gens as someone mentioned before. Much better than relying on map offerings that drain my pocket of BP.
Ormond Lake Mine was a really strong one. Just not as looking forward to swamp maps if they ever become a showcase…

It was awful and it discouraged me from playing because it was the more popular queue. But i don't believe thats because it what the people wanted i think it's more because the average person will see orange banner, limited time thing, "i should do this". Same with survivor 2v8 i think people were more willing to play because of the bloodpoint bonus not because it's actually a better mode

I enjoyed the Lake Mine showcase. It's DbD's best map in at least a couple years, in my opinion, but for some reason the odds of playing on it normally seem unusually low. Thanks to the showcase, I could actually play on it more than once every 200 matches or so.

For the first time ever I was actually interested in a map queue because Lake Mine is a great map. It's by far the best map we have gotten in a really long time, the visuals are outstanding and it's well-balanced for both sides

I support it only because one day surely Toba will be on the rotation. killing map offerings killed my 24/7 toba

With the nerfing of maps a while back, I enjoy having a guaranteed map and being able to practice and study with it
