Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

For SoloQ do you prefer...

Kindred or Bond? I like both of them but don't feel comfortable using both together. I feel like I'm wasting one slot.

I prefer kindred because I feel like unhooks are a challenging situation for soloq so giving the team as much info as possible is probably a good thing. Also I like how it can show me what direction the killer is going so I can tell how at risk I am or which way to rotate in for the save. Overall, kindred comp.

Bond is more reliable, and you don't usually need to see teammates on the other side of the map. But both should be basekit for soloQ survivors for years already, too bad content creators don't bring this up often enough for BHVR to do anything.

i think kindred is overall better because it shows you where the killer is going after a hook which is a huge benefit, tells you what to do basically, and if you chase near the hooked survivor, especially in an indoor map or with open handed together, you can have wallhacks on the killer in chase

+ other teammates can benefit from this perk too.

No it does not really do that since the Bubble blocks it.

    @Topic:

I think Bond is the better Perk. Kindred gives information to the other Survivors, but they need to process them… Does not help if you show everyone where everyone is, just for Baby Meg to stand up from her Gen full map away, even if she should see that someone is already going for the rescue.

Bond on the other hand gives you overall more information and the range is still good enough to know if someone is going for the Unhook for example (because at some point you will see them when you go yourself, plus you have the HUD anyway). But Bond is always active, which is the big plus, so you can avoid running into people on Gens or now where others might be.

The only negative aspect of Bond is that sometimes you dont want to know what your team is doing (or not doing…).

Bubble was never a big problem for me using kindred

And if you have a baby meg neither bond nor kindred will save you, clairvoyance is better in that situation

Honest answer, Lucky Star is better than both perks in my opinion. Such a slept on perk. Seeing the nearest gen and what your team is up to every 30 seconds is so helpful in Solo Q. You can get a good idea of what the current game state is and make better decisions thanks to the info it provides.

Also has a bonus stealth feature to hide your blood pools and injured sound which has saved my bacon so many times. But it's not a free perk, so perhaps not fair to compare to Kindred/Bond.

Of the free perks, I prefer Bond. But that's mostly because I don't like to see my team on the other side of the map doing absolutely nothing yet still not bothering to come and rescue me off hook.

I'd probaby pick Kindred but solo or not, Empathy is my default teammate info perk. I get crazy value out of it and i never take it off. I know where the killer is when if an injured person is in chase, I can see if the chase is coming way, I can easily find a chase and take a hit for someone in dire straits, I can make my way to someone to heal them, and I know if and where an injured person is ratting.

Bond. It was more like a multi tool for me. I can see if some pallets are dropped close to me by teammates, I can see if chase close, I can see if people working on important gen, and 24 m range helps with hook saves and time saving, and I can find person and ask for heal. Really loved it

Kindred and bond are quite nice together when paired up with Open Handed. But that is 3 perks. Having kindred or bond with open handed is still amazing.

In solo'Q, I'd take Kindred. But only with open handed, as the hook bubble still hides the killer aura, so base kindred is too weak imo.

i’m pretty sure in one of the recent updates (9.2 iirc) it wasn’t mentioned in the patch notes but the black bubble doesn’t block the aura reading from kindred anymore. i’m not 100% sure it still exists to this day but if it does then that’s a huge qol/indirect buff to kindred.

edit: just tested out if it still works and it indeed still does.

Yeah - Empathy, Bond, and Kindred are good. I like Empathic Connection as well. 😊

But of the three, I do prefer Empathy the best (aura reading wise) as it gives me direct information on where the killer is and allows me to reset other survivors when necessary - I pair it with Botany Knowledge on my Claudette for nice speedy heals.

If I use Kindred, I typically either need it with Open-Handed or Reassurance - those are the only builds I use with Kindred. I don't use Bond as much, however. Bond is good, I just don't use it as much as the other two.

Thanks for this! Good to know this was fixed. Very very annoying lol.

Either is good. Kindred provides great value, and pair that up with Open Handed for long-range wallhacks on the killer. Easy to see if they are proxying or not.

Bond when you are chase, makes it easier to avoid gens where teammates are.

I actually use both. But if I had to choose one it would be Bond. Dwight's finest.

Kindred is more useful for the team. Personally I perfer aftercare though, shows me the auras of the team mates that are being helpful, I don't need to see the rest lol

Yup, Empathy was always a staple in my builds. It's the superior option.

Id say it depends on what you encounter most, being left on hook /being camped to death or people bringing the killer to your generator or you to their generator. Bond also has the benefits of empathy just not from the other end of the map.

I know its out of topic but for soloq I prefer teammates with solid game sence (meaning players that know when its good time for doing gen or go for save etc.).

For majority I think kindread is better because it covers survivors coordination with saving and doing gens which is huge problem with uncoordinated soloq, bond is more good for saves or groping gens or for finding someone for heal but kindread covers this to and more globaly.

Empathy is great for healing others or knowing killers position when someone injured is in chase, kinda slept on perk.

If I need to see my teammates I generally just run a key and it keeps my perk slots free.

I generally prefer Kindred over Bond though.

Ping system would be the best thing for soloq.

Kindred is a great perk to rely on instead of the hud. So many times it's shown me who isn't going for the save. It also helps the team by giving information about where the Killer is heading or hiding, so everyone can position themselves ahead of time.

Definitely kindred. I've always felt like Bond gives too much irrelevant info, that is sometimes relevant but my brain just tunes it out.

Kindred helps show the team if the killers camping and also helps coordinate the team on who should go for the save

    I wish it became basekit

    Both.

Kindred for when you’re hooked, and bond for every other time.

If I’m in solo queue and expecting bad teammates, it’s kindred + bond.

If I don’t run kindred, my teammates either won’t unhook me or will all go for it, even with the UI. Also helps prevent them running a chase into the guy going for save.

If I don’t run bond, then any chase I take has a chance of running to a teammate who is going to go down instantly. Also helps me know when a teammate is taking the killer directly to me so I can leave quicker.

my current build that I've been running in Solo q lately is Bond, Kindred, Still Sight, and Open Handed. Actually kinda fun and has helped out a lot.

  • Reinami
    Reinami Member Posts: 6,611

    Both,

My main solo queue build is:

Kindred + Bond + Deja Vu + Open Handed.

You'd be surprised how powerful bond can be especially with open handed making it have a 48 meter range, which lets it cover a solid half of a map if you aren't in the corner (maps are usually 100x100 squarish shape).

Kindred is an obvious choice as well so your teammates know what is going on when you are hooked (although with the recent change to the camp bar being shown, it might be less useful and i may consider swapping it)

Deja vu is solid for making sure you don't 3 gen yourselves, just make sure you always work a gen in red and preferably the middle gen.

And lastly open handed benefits the whole team, lots of people for example run WOO, so it'll buff those types of perks for them.

If we are talking a full solo queue team I fear both together are kinda a necessity to work somewhat efficient. Kindred is kind of self explaining since it provides a lot of information to the entire group (if somebody is going for an unhook, killer patrolling, proxy camping or whatever) and bond can be somewhat of a crisis averter, preventing dragging the killer into somebody else on accident or taking the killer off somebody else who could be on death hook etc.

I get what you mean with the slot wasting but this is how this game has been functioning for a LONG time. Unfortunately for most of the game's life span they preferred to fix game design "issues" like this with (paid) bandaid perks. Borrowed Time was basically introduced to fight camping and also pretty much mandatory in any loadout pre basekit changes. And not even BT was enough since they had to introduce a second perk, Reassurance, to fight basically bad game design. Just to give you a different example of wasted perk slots.

I still kind of wonder why at least Kindred was never made basekit. Some people might say it would make 4 stack SWF even stronger but let's be real, I have never in my life seen a SWF group running Kindred. They usually sit in discord calls and talk about what's happening anyways so for them it would be rather obsolete. But for solo queue I think it would help quite a lot and even the odds a bit more.

    ~edit for typos

    Kindred for sure…
That gives value even to my teammates. It makes soloQ games so much better.

bond; it allowance me to detect sandbagging and throwers, and be able to throw off rats.

you can't trust other survivors in solo q in 2v1. it's not always, but it's not impossible for thr survivor to tame the killer out and work together. I am a creature of spite so I enjoy wasting their time. I do my part by attempting to tap generators out of good will for the spirit of the game but slugging the survivor to find me forces me to play for the server closing

I've tried Kindred + Bond + Open Handed in 4-5 matches and it's really rewarding. I replaced Deja Vu by Lithe.

I'm gonna try this build for a few more games, but I'm really enjoying it. I can always see where my teammates are, who is in chase, make easy unhooks, my teammates can easily see me when I'm on the hook, etc.

My build for solo queue games contain exhaustion of choice, kindred, deja vu and bond most of the time ;p
