It's never been more over

It's gonna be back once the Halloween game is gonna flop. Most of the people are tired of Illfonic and gun media, especially since they stopped supporting TCM and throw it into corner like nothing
31 -
i’m so upset but a lot of that anger is softened because now we don’t have to tell new/intermediate players to spend $5 on laurie anymore for them to get DS. DS becoming a general perk is gonna be huge for the longevity of the game.
14 -
There will be a Halloween game at some point next year, so most likely the license holders did not want to renew the contract or they wanted so much money that it is not really profitable anymore to keep the license.
(Dont want to say the new game will be bad, but if it fails (it is done by the same people who did Texas Chainsaw Massacre after all…) we might see a Comeback of Myers, lol)
10 -
not surprised with that new game coming out. Doesn’t want Micheal in two games.
0 -
Pulling a license from the most popular asymm to force people to come to one place if they want to play as Myers is just such a terrible idea.
Way to spoil the press for your game that was gonna be dead in a year anyway.
14 -
I had to pinch my arm to confirm that I was not stuck in a bad dream.
WHAT?!
They are taking out the savior chapter of DBD?5 -
Its official. 2025 is the worst year of Dbd so far.
Halloween is their og license. It put Dbd on the map. This is so sad.
16 -
I had to do a quadruple take on it too 😭
I thought I was being pranked, but no, it's real.
5 -
I'm sure it's not related at all, but it's kind of funny how this comes shortly after the Myers rework.
7 -
6
-
Oh that's gonna backfire on them very quickly
3 -
Michael saved DBD.
To hear he's leaving does not reflect well.
17 -
I think it's related, but not due to the causation you'd think.
They probably wanted to do the major rework before they lost the license. So the license being removed caused the rework, not the other way around.
3 -
Wild but at least DS will be free.
2 -
No more haddonfield 🥳🥳🥳🥳
-4 -
While we make it free can we remove the Skill check? So it is an Anti tunnel perk and not a "Let´s see if you newby can hit this skill check to confirm you deserve this perk"
3 -
Tbf, I'm gonna miss Haddonfield for the sole reason because I loved playing lore accurate Michael.
But this is kinda sad really.
5 -
BHVR is a multi million dollar company, we’ll be just fine without it. Besides that new halloween game is probably gonna flop anyway.
3 -
BHVR hasn't really had a successful game outside of DBD and one the main factors to DBD even being successful was the introduction of the Halloween chapter early in the game's life.
While I'm sure BHVR/DBD will be fine in the short term, there is a reason to be concerned about the long term of the game. This year has still been a mess for DBD.
3 -
Well this is terrible news.
I've been expecting them to lose a license or two for some time now (simply due to how many there are in game these days — it's inevitable that some will come and go) but I didn't expect it to be Halloween.
6 -
I never understand license holders selling rights. You won't make more money by making exclusive deals. You make more money by diversifying your license so having multiple games having the character makes it more likely to you to get more money as some people from one game will not buy the other game anyway.
Also character being in another game will not hurt a game that is made of the franchise itself. In the end it most likely would be wiser to use the other games license deal to entice people to buy the new game. Like new cosmetics that link to the new game. When you do these kind of things you just leave bad taste for the other games players so they are even less likely to buy the new game.
It just proves that license holders don't even know how to make money from licence they hold.
8 -
Why would they waste time and energy reworking Myers and Haddonfield if they were going to be pulled soon anyways. Something tells me even BHVR didn't expect to lose the license
9 -
I bet that Gun had the license pulled from here to not have any competition. Jokes on them, they will destroy the game without any outside interference.
9 -
As surprised as I am that Meyers is no longer going to be purchasable, I'm more astonished Haddonfield is no longer going to exist. I know conceptually that's been a possibility since that's what happened with Stranger Things and Hawkins but it just feels weird that Haddonfield is not going to be a thing anymore.
Maybe we could get a generic suburb slasher map.
2 -
I was all hyped for the new Halloween game, even with the less than reputable people behind it, I am a sucker for new Mikey content.
But now I hope the game bombs and the license holders have to go crawling back to Bhvr.
6 -
it’ll come back just like Strangers things did. It’ll probably make them more money too.
1 -
Depends how long the game is going to be around and how long they have exclusive rights.
Stranger Things was just Netflix wanting to make their own games but they also did not get that DBD's license did not prevent them from doing that.

BHVR is a multi-million-dollar company with approximately one successful game. They got lucky once.
Halloween leaving is terrible for optics, and for players.
11 -
Terrible news!
1 -
The only positive is I dont need to deal with Haddonfield anymore, but I'll miss the aesthetic.
I hope we get it back one day, I guess that final rework has some context that no one asked for.2 -
I'm not gonna lie, I'm hoping it's not going to be a huge deal long term. DBD has already been enshrined as the quintessential horror asymm and I don't think Halloween leaving will end that.
We'll probably have a year without Michael, then GUN will abandon the Halloween project like they did with TCM, and then it'll come back like Stranger Things.
Can't deny it's been a pretty bad year for DBD all round though. I really hope it isn't a sign of worse to come.
7 -
Losing an icon.
3 -
I have already seen people who said that they will not buy the Halloween-game. Overall I am very sure that this move is not a complete win for the new game, because many fans of Asym Horror Games have played or are playing DBD and will be upset about the loss of the license.
8 -
This is awful. Two killers now fully inaccessible, Myers now one of them? I really hope these contracts get renewed after the Hellraiser and Halloween game sell. I hate that this is all so Gun can cash in on another franchise release they'll soon abandon. At least the new Hellraiser looks good.
2 -
I know some have said that Halloween will come back. But it does feel like an end of an era.
2 -
Marketing ploy.
0 -
If it doesn't come back in the future that will be sad for new players but I'm sure it will
0 -
Wild that they spent all those resources reworking Myers so recently. That license did indeed save DBD.
2 -
Speculation:
They HAD to rework myers in order to get him to an acceptable 'end-of-life' state before the expiry since after that, while they can still make changes - nobody can purchase the content anymore so from a business standpoint it makes 0 sense to do so
I think characters who are removed from the store still get 'support' like minor bug fixes & balance changes but now it makes complete sense why a Myers Rework was seemingly rushed I mean look at how bad the first iteration of it was.
3 -
This move just did the same for me the Hellraiser one did. Dropped my interest of their game coming out to zero. I don't like this kind of thing and thinking you get people play your game by barring the character from another game.
Its time to get the Jason's rights so we get him to take Michael's spot
3 -
its not looking good for dbd tbh…losing 2 key licences in 1 year, hellraiser and halloween.
The game gets worse every year, repeated failed ptb, QoL updates postponed or failed, 2 iconic licences that helped put the game on the map are gone, cheaters worse than ever, 2 of the most hated killers get released (ghoul and krasue). Not looking good at all based on the past year.
4 -
Mikey was a huge part of dbd; that's most unfortunate
5 -
You know, I just realised something. When the perks go universal, one of the most iconic perk names in the game, Decisive Strike, is gonna be changed.
End of an era for sure. Here's hoping it really was just because of the upcoming game so we can get the siblings back where they belong after it hits a lull.
2 -
Not for those who own the DLC.
1 -
True!
Still, man, what a thing to see.

Can see the renamed perks here:

Will To Live isn't a bad replacement name tbh, could be a lot worse
1 -
Tbh is even krasue that hated when no one plays her and I met her like only 3 to 5 times since her release and more mayers than even, even more of them than in 2017 which is funny kinda.

either dbd keeps living or shutting down is up the team, the game lasted for a long time anyway, either way people would be fine, they will either move to different games if the game shut down, or they will stay if it doesnt, no matter what happen everyone will be fine,(beside some streamers that only have dbd salt content).
0 -
Damn… This is a tragedy for the game. I'm not a fan of his recent rework into the freakin' Shape Guy and I don't really enjoy playing as Mikey anymore, but this is still a very sad turn of events.
Myers and Leather Face were two of the biggest reasons why I started playing this game in the first place. It might not be a huge financial loss for BHVR, since a lot of the newer content has probably brought in an influx of players who consider Springtrap to be a bigger deal than one of the OG slasher icons, but it's still bad news. A lot of the younger players might not even know who he is.
Still, I'm going to miss my Halloween tradition of bringing a Haddonfield offering on October 31st and playing at least one Myers game on his home turf :(
